Excellent review! During the application please reconsider dampening the foam applicator pad slightly. There is an instructional video by Soft 99 recommending it being damp. This might help with ease of application and possibly durability.
I think Soft 99 got caught up in the whole eco-mental thing. The 2 significant complaints about Fusso were the chemical smell and the difficulty of removal if over applied. It's also primarily an Asia and Australia product and looking to expand further into Europe and the U.S. The trend in the west is more eco-mental restrictions on consumer chemicals. It seems diluted and less effective. I think it is a bad move, they get more positive reactions from the durability and effectiveness than they get negative attention from the smell and chemical composition. Besides, there's much bigger, more dangerous pollutants than the ingredients in one brand of Japanese auto wax.
Yea it's definitely a little disappointing. I was wondering if it was an eco thing. The solvent smell was strong on the old product, but man did it work well. People should just use it in ventilation. Most people don't even wax indoors due to room/lighting. Even then this is still a really good wax, but not as good as the original. Especially with the price going up. I still think it is at least partially to be in-line price and performance wise with other products. Wonder if they hit a trifecta of more eco, cheaper to make, and charging more for it?
Its actually for eu environmental restrictions. Soft99 wont be selling old fusso in europe anymore but will still make the old fusso for other countries outside europe
That probably is a lifetime supply for most folks! Keep the cans in a moderately cool dry place to maximize lifetime. I bet given the composition it can last decades if stored out of extreme heat/cold/humidity.
Many thanks for the video. It was a nice comparison. I bought the old fusso in line with your review. Apparently both more affordable and a good product compared to the new one.
I'm going to be topping my old fuso that much more to make the can last, don't hate the new stuff, I just feel it's a step down in quality given less chemical resistance. I know we spoke about this last video (the original) but if you ever feel up too it, or bored wanting to make a video go side by side and hit them with chemicals. Neither holds up well to AP but there is a noticeable gap between the two, for a product, it's not bad, but as a successor to a sealant known for longevity it's a flop in my book at least comparing the two side by side. Still happy too see the video and thank you :)
Thanks for watching! I pretty much 100% agree with you. I think its a great wax all said and done. However, price and durability is a let down if you've tried the old one. If I never knew about the old one, I'd be very excited about the new one. I am working to add some new testing, so I may do other chem resistance testing. Right now I'm focused on working out heat and UV.
Collinite makes a good product. Ultimately many of us use what we're used to and like :). I'm not necessarily convincing anyone to switch, but many new people are getting into detailing every day! Thanks for watching!
I like Soft99 products and always wondered why they are not promoted more in the U.S. They have some unique offerings. Someone in Asia commented, in a forum, that Soft99 prefers to concentrate its business in Asia. Too bad, because they would do well, if promoted correctly.
They seem to have made a US site, but haven't really gone to market. Hopefully soon! I do want to try more stuff, but importing is expensive vs. products already in my market.

I keep hearing they may keep selling the old formula in asia and oceania so maybe it won’t go away soon? Three or four cans of this stuff may be a lifetime supply unless you have a ton of cars.
Dmitry's Garage I don’t seem to have trouble getting the old formula cans currently, I just bought another only $30 AUD, harder to buy the new formula to be honest and that is nearly twice the price.
I bought one can of OLD FUSSO on eBay for 28 Dolars on 21 January 2021. Hope old stays available. I'm in France. Please can somebody tell me how many month durability has been lost with new formula ?? Thanks!!
I used this fusso 12 month's head to head with turtle Ceramic + Graphene Paste Wax anniversary version . the truth is fusso 99 kicked turtle ceramic 75yr anniversary version in the ass 100 % made my silver color car look like a color chrome car it was gleaming so bright i had to put on my sun glasses just to look at it NO LIE . I love love this stuff OOOHHH and i also have the old original formula .
On Carzilla.ca in the description it says this. So by that it sounds like the new weaker formula is only for the EU? PLEASE NOTE THAT THE REFORMULATED “NEW” FUSSO IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR EU MARKET, SOFT99 IS NOT PLANNING TO DISCONTINUE THE ORIGINAL FUSSO COAT, THE REFORMULATION (AT REDUCED DURABILITY) IS ONLY THERE TO COMPLY WITH CERTAIN EU LAWS.
It doesn't seem to be sold in the US anyway. I had to order both new and old from overseas. EU and US tend to be pretty harsh on laws around these chemicals, so if they come to the US I'd assume we'd get the new formula. Hopefully they keep the old formula going! Soft99's facebook posts seemed to indicate the new formula was the formula going forward, they touted it as an upgrade which IMO it's not.
Hi. Love your review. I am big fan of Collinite 476s Super Double Coat. Can you try Collinite 476s Super Double Coat vs Soft99 Fusso Coat Original Dark Color? Thanks
I can tell you that the Fusso out performed after using both over the harsh winters here in the Midwest USA. The 476s started to dwindle down toward the end of winter (4-5 months after application) but the Fusso is still going strong after 7 months.
@@Grizzleback07 Nice feedback! As a 476 user who also lives in the midwest (Twin Cities, MN), I'm very interested in durable products that can survive 4-6 months of winter conditions as I don't have the ability to really do any detailing on my car over the winter (besides a few touchless washes at a car wash). Soft99 Fusso has been on my radar for a while now, but just never picked up a can to try. I may just have to give it a go before winter.
The new formulation is for the eu market due to environmental restrictions. The old one will still be sold by soft99 outside europe. Nice video as always keep it up bro.
Hopefully thats the case. I was lurking on their facebook and they were making it seem like theyre replacing it with this new one. I hope they keep both!
Hey Dmitry, I think I messed up. I found some old stock of the Soft99's and ended up buying 3 tins. I don't think I will finish a single tin throughout my lifetime. Do you know if Fusso Coat ever expires or goes bad? How many years can I keep them or do they last indefinitely? Also do you know if I can stack multiple layers on? I'm thinking of layering a new fusso coat on after every monthly car wash. Is that a good idea or is it pointless since it supposedly lasts 12 months?
I would keep the unopened cans indoors somewhere with stable temperature. Being that it is not an organic wax it should last sealed for a long time. Synthetic products in general store well. I have a 7 year old bottle of wolfgang deep gloss that works just as good as a new one when tested. I would say fusso is probably going to last indefinitely in the right environment in a sealed can. There are also plenty of non-automotive uses of waxes around the house if you get creative. For layering, you can, but avoid real thick layers because optical quality may be affected.
Amazing review. Would there be any visual improvements if this would be applied in 3 layers. I mean 1 layer reduces the gloss..... Did you use the new one or the old one? I hear the new one doesn't stink... the payout on the old one is worth the stinkness to me, 1 wash per week and it lasts the whole year till I remove it and add it again. I live in quebec where we have massive road salt and constant -30°c weather in the winter and summers are constant +30°c. The a/c in your house is around 18 when you are half naked which -18 in your winter gear feels the same. Lol, sorry went off topic
I think it’s worth noting that soft99 will keep making the original formula. This new formula is just for some eu countries that has different regulations.
That is what i heard once i did some more digging. Hopefully this is the case but I know it took my friend a long time to get some here. Hopefully it will remain accessible!
Which is the Original Dark?? 1) The whole can including Instruction in Japanese and the color is White Cream; Not much odor smell.. 2) Outer can has Japanese Characters and Instruction is in English; Color is Light Green; Odor is sweet smelling. Which is the ORIGINAL FORMULA?? #1 or #2
I'm not, it's a Greenworks unit from the local hardware store. Personally I think pressure washers are an example of where Adam's is "boiling the ocean" by trying to be the single supplier for every possible niche. It's going to catch them flack. As far as I can tell they only have a 1 year warranty on their units. I'd rather just go to Lowes and get a unit with a 3 year whole item warranty and 10 year motor warranty for $350. Lowes, at least here, is very liberal with exchanges and returns. I don't get why you'd order this from a detailing company TBH. The only real downside to getting one from a store is that you'll have to buy a snub nose wand/gun to make washing cars easier (don't shoot yourself though, they are more dangerous to use.)
I agree about Adams. I purchased their 2.0 pressure washer back in July. I needed a new one for my mobile business. And I’m currently on my second unit because the first one was defective. But I’m convinced that Adam’s needs to stick to chemicals. I’m not impressed with their foam cannon either! I have review footage for the pressure washer, just have to get it up on UA-cam.
I'm not sure if you came up with a way to test slickness yet but I was thinking why can you do a test with say a microfiber on top of the hood with let's a 10lb weight on it and pull it with a meter that can measure pull strength and then u can test how slick it maybe
Thanks for the suggestion. That is along the lines of what I’m trying. I initially tried to do an incline test but it was too hard to tell the difference, there was too much variance between tests of the same surface. I will give a heavier weight and scale method like you described a shot, maybe it will yield more consistent results.
Alright ! I have applied 2 layer of old Fuso 12 with 24 hours interval. Then applied Cchemical Guys XXX paste wax 47% carnuba as layer 3. Last layer ruined the entire look of my car. It now looks very much mat. With 2 coats of old Fuso 12 it was blinking like glass :( I guess now I can not remover layer 3 only :( Thunder Gray colour. P.S. Looks like sealants only for bright colours is the only true rule of thumb
That's too bad! Layering is definitely a potential risk especially since the solvent in the new layer can interact with the layers below. Sorry to say, but yea you'll probably need to decon wash and re-apply your choice of wax.
@@DmitrysGarage no way to wash off fuso. Only last wax probably since it is 46%carnuba ..... Polishing of is the only option I think. What a heartbreak
Hello antidote ! So please can you tell me if you recommand 2 coats of old FUSSO with 24 hours of interval ? Is it the best for durability and gloss ? :)
Thanks for watching! The prices were broken down per pint, to compare products like for like. For example a product that costs $15 but comes in a 6oz bottle is more expensive than a $18 dollar product that comes in a 24oz bottle. Also keep in mind this video is 2 years old, it's likely prices changed. I had to import these from out of the country at the time.
It does provide UV protection, but as a general rule I would never recommend putting paste or liquid waxes on plastics, porous surfaces, head lights, rubber trim, etc... You can try it on a small spot to see how it works, but I would generally avoid as these products have a high risk of whitening rubbers/plastics or clouding clear plastics. The best thing for plastics/rubbers are spray waxes especially ceramic ones. For instance I've used Gyeon Cure on headlights and even porous plastic around my truck's bed. Thanks for watching!
@@joeris8121 Yea exactly. My general rule is if it's not clear, it doesn't go on plastic/rubber/porous surfaces. Even clear stuff you gotta really read the label and unless it explicitly says it's safe (many do say so) I would still test on a spot that no one can see first. For any non-clear products even if they say it's safe on headlights or plastics, I would always test first too.
Yes there are some that have scored positively, but it's a minority of them since the panel is already very glossy (similar score to my test hood). It all depends on the base gloss you start from. I've seen some tests done on very dull panels with base scores in the 80s, which makes it a lot easier to boost gloss than a shiny panel. If your car paint is new or has been well maintained it should be 90+.
You probably could, but I'm not sure you should without testing first. Sometimes wax on the windshield makes the wipers skip if the wax doesn't work well with the glass. I have not tried this one yet on glass.
If you see these honeycomb graphics on the tin, it’s the newer one. If you see big Japanese font, it’s the old one. Old one also has a golden shield that says “12 month…” in the center.
What you are doing is god sent. I look to you when I wanna know if a product is good or not. The durability test is the only important thing to me.
Thanks Mark, appreciate you watching and commenting! Glad you like my durability testing.

@@DmitrysGarage I mean it is not completely mat now, but matter than with Fuso alone
Hello antidote ! So please can you tell me if you recommand 2 coats of old FUSSO with 24 hours of interval ? Is it the best for durability and gloss ? :)
@@diaboleux if you have bright color car then yes go ahead
!
Sory i live in foreign country. İ dont understand very well. Which one is beter old or New? My english a Little sory bro.
The old formula is better in my testing.
Are those prices in USD?
That's insane pricing.
I can get it right now for $34 USD free shipping
Thanks for watching! The prices were broken down per pint, to compare products like for like. For example a product that costs $15 but comes in a 6oz bottle is more expensive than a $18 dollar product that comes in a 24oz bottle. Also keep in mind this video is 2 years old, it's likely prices changed. I had to import these from out of the country at the time.
@@DmitrysGarage ahhhh. Makes sense
Good test, now try Naviwax please
Thanks! Ill add it to my list.
Can you put this on your headlights and does it give uv protection?
It does provide UV protection, but as a general rule I would never recommend putting paste or liquid waxes on plastics, porous surfaces, head lights, rubber trim, etc... You can try it on a small spot to see how it works, but I would generally avoid as these products have a high risk of whitening rubbers/plastics or clouding clear plastics. The best thing for plastics/rubbers are spray waxes especially ceramic ones. For instance I've used Gyeon Cure on headlights and even porous plastic around my truck's bed. Thanks for watching!
@@DmitrysGarage thanks for replying.
@@DmitrysGarage So this also applies to the Wolfgang deep gloss sealant right?
@@joeris8121 Yea exactly. My general rule is if it's not clear, it doesn't go on plastic/rubber/porous surfaces. Even clear stuff you gotta really read the label and unless it explicitly says it's safe (many do say so) I would still test on a spot that no one can see first. For any non-clear products even if they say it's safe on headlights or plastics, I would always test first too.
has there been any products that had a positive on the gloss test?
Yes there are some that have scored positively, but it's a minority of them since the panel is already very glossy (similar score to my test hood). It all depends on the base gloss you start from. I've seen some tests done on very dull panels with base scores in the 80s, which makes it a lot easier to boost gloss than a shiny panel. If your car paint is new or has been well maintained it should be 90+.
Can you try Turtle Wax ceramic wax coating, and Turtle wax ice seal and shine.
Definitely add those to my list. Thanks for watching!
Can you put it on your car Windows?
You probably could, but I'm not sure you should without testing first. Sometimes wax on the windshield makes the wipers skip if the wax doesn't work well with the glass. I have not tried this one yet on glass.
Doesn't work great on glass. Do not put it on plastic it will stain for sure.
I just got some to try... How will i know if i have the old or new version.... I bought it thru soft99usa
What does the can look like? I have videos for both old and new. You should be able to compare.
If you see these honeycomb graphics on the tin, it’s the newer one. If you see big Japanese font, it’s the old one. Old one also has a golden shield that says “12 month…” in the center.
