I'm not in game dev but software and I can tell you there is a limited budget for each project even on 10 year old systems that mostly can just up and lift with minor adjustments.
If the track was 10,000km and the car only went 600km per hour, it would take roughly 18 hours to get around it once. Come on, you can math better than this.
Because it depends on the environment. Driving 100 km/h on a highway feels like you are getting no where, while driving 100 km/h on a town road feels like you are about to crash. Race tracks are meant for driving at high speeds, so they design the tracks in such a way that driving at high speeds still feels slow enough for you to make decisions. But, it also depends on the racetrack. When I drove the SRT Tomahawk on the Daytona track, it felt as if everything was fast-forwarded going at 560 km/h. If an accident happened 300 meters away, I simply had no chance of avoiding it. As it only took my car 2 seconds to get there. When I drove my McLaren F1 on the 0.5 mile American circuit in GT7, the view from the cockpit was so fast I had to resist blinking sometimes in order to not crash into the wall. Then driving the SRT Tomahawk on this track... it was physically impossible to drive.
I didnt realize it went that fast. 600kmh wow. Its faster than F-zero and F-zero Maximum Velocity. They go 418 kmh normal and 600 boost and that is antigravity rocket cars. Imagine cars drive past those. Also faster than a lot of Wipeout lower classes.
Honestly the 1st feeling of speed in games for me was Mulsanne Straight on Circuit De La Sarthe “Le Man” in GT4….. on PS2 with component cables (480p) progressive scan tv. It had camera shake, and the cars reacted to the bumps at 265mph. Still a top 5 game for sound/visuals. On another note- is the person driving in this video using the damn d-pad or something? Car looks terrible in the corners!
Well, the 2020 SSC Tuatara hypercar reached 508 km/h top speed, currently the fastest road speed achieved. Vision GT cars are meant to showcase future technologies and concepts, which are not that far from reality once we develop better materials.

I never noticed the sound when you're behind a car when you're drafting and then when you pull out along the side the car the wind noise pretty cool never noticed it while playing the game
I know that this car is an engineering marvel, and that the real-time, functional aerodynamics provide optimum performance.. However, something about seeing the flaps open and close is a bit unsettling to me. Like, my brain isn't used to seeing a car do that. lol
