This little mini-series with Matthew was fantastic! He's a nice man and very knowledgeable as we all should be of our towns and cities. We are sold on England!
I really enjoyed this one, david was a great guide, really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Those peal boards were interesting, did he say the last one was in 1984, fascinating all the ones through the years. Probably not much room for more. The clock mechanism was wonderful too, and how wonderful Gillett & Johnson still services it, things in them days was built to last. Thanks Richard and Mathew for a great walk around the tower
David Gilmore was a fantastic guide. I love when people are passionate about what they do!!!😃 What spectacular views you & Matthew got from up on top the bell tower. Such a beautiful blue sky & the scenery around were all just breathtaking (but especially the windmill).
Until I was eleven, I lived about ½ kilometre from St Mary’s, in Rushworth Road. I have happy memories of hearing those bells, plus those of both the market place in the town centre and the Priory.
As far as I know a "newel" is a supporting post or column on a staircase but most stone spiral staircases have the centre post "newel" built into each stair so the stairs support each other with one sitting on top of the next and so on. Disclaimer: I am often misinformed though :)
What stunning views over Reigate from the top of the bell tower! I was born in Reigate and am familiar with the area including the Victorian houses where my ancestors lived in North Albert Rd. Thank you to Matthew and David for their interesting talks
Whew! That was a dizzying climb up the tower, but worth it for the views. Thanks Richard and Matthew.
@Zaire Terry You’re right, I don’t give two shits.

@@RichardVobes there are ten bells in the tower before then there were 8 bells
Didnt realise that the guitarist with Pink Floyd was also a bell ringer!
A fascinating insight into bell towers.
Sid Bonkers - part of me hoped we were going to get the Comfortably Numb solo from the top of the church tower!
Really enjoying these church tour videos. Thank you.
Thanks so watching!
