    Proverbs 31:25-30
    25 She is clothed with strength and dignity,
    and she laughs without fear of the future.
    26 When she speaks, her words are wise,
    and she gives instructions with kindness.
    27 She carefully watches everything in her household
    and suffers nothing from laziness.
    28 Her children stand and bless her.
    Her husband praises her:
    29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
    but you surpass them all!”
    30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
    but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

    My pastor says if you TELL someone what to change: clothes, style, jewelry, hair, makeup... they will take it off to please you/religion but they will fall harder into their old lifestyle and put that same stuff back on. If you let the HOLY SPIRIT change and convict a person about what they wear, then they will never look back and those desires of the past will go away!! And not because of religion but because of RELATIONSHIP.

      It depends, God's in the midst of our situations, he used ppl to convict me, and I pretty much got my act together real quick. If someone is sold out to God, they shouldn't be offended if God uses some one to bring conviction. Most of the body of Christ is in a religious state, so they may out of rebellion not submit to authority, or they may put something aside to please a person. I think if your open to pleasing God, it won't offend you to be corrected, God does say to correct a brethren, we can be accountable to each other as well as to Authority, Jesus being our highest Authority. I hope this makes sense, it's all about submission to Christ and if your a true follower you will learn quickly what God expects etc...

      @@thewriter2634 That was before sin entered into man's nature by the choices of Adam & Eve. Who provided clothing to man and woman? God himself provided Adam and Eve with clothing. "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them." Genesis 3:21.
      In a pure world, sure we might not have to think about clothing. With sin entering the world, God himself provided men and women with clothing so that they would not be ashamed. Why? Because with sin in man's nature it has become part of our knowledge. Additionally, who ever looks upon a man or woman in lust has committed adultery, before sin that was not an issue. After sin, such things are more of an issue. Society was not what caused this... it was from Adam & Eve's actions before we even multiplied.
      1 Timothy Chapter 2 also talks about clothing with modesty. Be blessed and hope this helps

Then, somehow, the devil must have snuck in and slowly drained the zeal out, and before you know it, you've lost your first love.

Like wearing mascara and lipgloss, jewelry, PANTS!, mixed fabrics, and much much more. I'm still in school and it's not like I can just go to school with a dress and a skirt everyday, especially when the winter time rolls around. I'm trying to obey God the best I can but this is too overwhelming for me. I don't know if I am overthinking or what not. But all I am trying to do is live right with God. Doesn't God look at our hearts and our intentions? Isn't our intention more important than our appearance?? Alot of people whom I have messaged regarding my concerns have said that as long as you don't idolize something and do it with good intentions that you are good. But there have been people also saying that if I do it period, that I will go to hell. Which doesn't make me feel any better nor does it calm my overthinking down.

      @The bible approves Abortion Here are some Biblical references to know why Christians tend to favor life when it comes to the subject of abortion:
      "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." (Jeremiah 1 : 5 KJV)
      "For You formed my innermost parts;
      You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well...Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." (Psalm 139 : 13-14 AMP; 16 KJV)
      "These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and *hands that shed innocent blood,* An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6 : 16-19 KJV)
      By the way, in case you're thinking, "does this fool know the difference between a baby and a fetus," please hear me out: There's obviously a difference in our worldviews. You see things from a secular point of view, whereas I see things from a Biblical point of view. Given this difference in our perspectives, we'll naturally come to incompatible conclusions on what abortion is.
      Because of your view, you might argue that abortion is merely the termination of an unwanted pregnancy. And to an extent, you would be right. However, where we differ is in the intrinsic value of the preborn, whether or not it has just as much humanity as a birthed human, and thereby, the right to life. I believe it does have intrinsic value, sufficient humanity, and thus deserving of the right to life just like you and I.
      Both, the Bible and biological science testify to the humanity of the preborn. The confusion comes when we disregard the standards God, and rely solely on our own reasoning and our finite, ever-changing knowledge to understand truth. We then take a more sinister approach by employing euphemisms and altering definitions (e.g., calling it "abortion" instead of infanticide, "demise" instead of death, "fetus" or "a clump of cells" instead of a preborn infant, etc.) in order to justify the practice, not to mention the specious arguments used when addressing the preborn's size, development, and level of dependency. This is all meant to dehumanize the fetus, and in doing so, there's less guilt or outrage involved with having/performing an abortion. By the way, _fetus_ is just a fancy word adopted from Latin, which literally means "little one" or "small child." (Bearing that in mind, it makes sense why the medical team would discourage or prevent the mother from seeing the live sonogram during an ultrasound-guided abortion.)
      Therefore, abortion is _not_ just the termination of an unwanted pregnancy; it is also the killing of a very young child. And based on the verses aforementioned, God despises the killing of innocent human life, even in such infancy.

    • @jnorvil
      @jnorvil 3 роки тому +9

      @The bible approves Abortion Interesting point you made about the killing of the Canaanite clans, which indeed included infants. However, to condemn the death of those babies without taking into account the totality of God's nature would be unwise for anyone to do as there is a significant distinction between God and man. Context matters.
      Man is a finite creature with free moral agency. He has the capability to do good as well as evil. And, due to sin, he has fallen short of the glory of God, and became subject to the curse of sin. As a result, he needs to be guided in learning and doing right. (And what better teacher to have other than the Divine?) Otherwise, he is left only to his given faculties to experience & make sense of the world and his place in it. God, on the other hand, is defined by totally different circumstances. He is the uncreated Creator (self-existent, eternal). He is the source of all things, seen and unseen; without Him, absolutely nothing would exist. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is the Giver of life and the Taker thereof. He is the King of all creation, the Father of all the righteous, and the Judge of all the wicked. Most of all, God is good. Here's a better way of saying that: God *_is_* goodness (not just the adjective, but also the noun), and, as the law of contrast demands, the opposite of Him is evil/wickedness.
      Thus, since, by definition, God is good, His commandments and judgements are true and righteous altogether, even when we humans cannot fathom or reconcile them with our 21st-century moral sensibilities. Now, make no mistake about it: God is in no wise capricious or arbitrary. He stands by His Word, which Christians believe to be the Bible (and for good reason). It's the most consistent means by which we can know the nature of God, outside of a personal revelation. Taking a balanced view of the whole Bible into consideration and becoming more like Jesus can help us to better understand the rationale behind God's decisions, including those such as the destruction of the infants in the Promised Land.
      I won't pretend to fully grasp the reason why God commanded the Israelites to kill the children, but because of who He is according to His Word and the goodness He has faithfully shown to myself and many, I can rest confident in the hope of one day understanding why.
      As for the verses I appealed to, you're right that none of them speak about abortion-not specifically, at least. Collectively, they were meant to give a description that depicts God's view of and involvement with the preborn and the unjust killing of innocent people, all of which affirm the sanctity of human life-consequently, addressing the issue of abortion _in principle._ The account you mentioned about the slaughter of the children, together with the adults, in the land of Canaan does not specifically mention the killing of unborn children. Remember, abortion is the termination of an unwanted pregnancy or, more generally, the killing of a child in the womb. The passages you referred to are not precise about children dying in the womb of their mothers via bloodshed. Yet, to be fair, given the possibility that there would have been pregnant women among the slain, abortions in that sense were likely carried out. Nonetheless, it brings me back to my point from earlier, context matters. The clarity of the words we use and how we use them are imperative to gaining a mutual understanding of controversial subjects like abortion.
      P.S. I don't know your heart, but from the looks of things, it seems like you have a God complex-at least from a Christian perspective, you do. If so, I doubt a highly intellectual discourse about God or abortion will be of any avail to you. The issue is likely deeper, probably due to some pain or traumatic experience you've endured, which can give way to pride. I've seen it with family and friends. I would humbly advise you to search out the real cause behind your situation (why you feel the way you do), acknowledge it, and seek healing if there's any hurt. That way, if ever you debate on a similar subject again, you'll do so from a place of humility and honest disagreement. Besides, who knows if that won't lead you onto a journey where you truly find God for yourself (not mere religion or a baseless spirituality) and foster a healthy relationship with Him...and we end up referring to one another as "brothers in Christ" (assuming you're a guy 🙂)?
      Life has an interesting way of including the miraculous.
      I will be praying for you. Take care.

      Hi Jordyn, don’t overthink it just ask for the Holy spirit’s guidance above all else. My thing with modesty is you can dress in proper way but still have a lustful heart. The word of God must change you from the inside out. God did it with me ! so I no longer desire to dress lustfully for attention. Also you can wear pants . It confuses me as well when people say that like what lol ?! Makeup and jewelry can be worn but our contentment or worth should not come from that nor should it be overdone. Modesty by definition is legalistic, and the Bible does talk about it. Even at some point in the video she describes that she got here attire from other Christians, so it's a fallacy to say that you don't want people to give you examples of how to dress, then turn around and proceed to get your attire from people at the church??? We're living during spiritually dangerous times, in a society that encourages women to dress as objects rather than women created and glorified by the lord. It's not hard, look at how western society practiced modesty in the early 1900's, our society used to practice modesty that accentuated Male Masculinity and Female Femininity. The Bible also says to not cross dress, and apparently today cross dressing has been completely normalized, women dress like men and males don't dress like men/ As people of Christ we're called to dress apart from the world, not a part of it, and the attire sold in stores today promotes everything but that of a biblical life.

      @@jordyn_shortsHey! I am on a journey to strengthen my faith with the Lord. I just wanted to say, if you’re still struggling, I understand. However, it’s not okay for people to tell you “You’re going to Hell for the things you wear!” Listen to your heart and what God is telling you, and honestly, sometimes His voice can get washed out by worldly things. Something I have been practicing is giving all my anxieties, fears, and worries to God. You can think of it in a manner of a big inhale and exhale. You’re inhaling and taking in all the things causing you stress and exhaling would be putting in His hands. You might do it a thousand times a day and that’s a-okay.
      I cannot say what to dress like, because I’m still figuring this out myself, but a question to ask yourself is “What is my intention dressing like this? Would I wear this if I knew I was seeing Christ today?” Or in a more formal aspect, “Would I wear this if I was visiting the throne room of God?” People would argue that God has seen me and you naked, so just show up naked, but we’re applying this to clothing for the time being. If you were asked to be dressed to visit the throne room, or were going somewhere casual with Christ, would you wear it?
      God knows your intentions. If you’re not trying to dress provocatively and are dressing based off of the weather and what’s most comfortable, and are not ill-intentioned- you could be fine. What’s making you question your clothing? Is it the words of judgement or shame from those around you? Or is it God telling you that you need to change? Ask yourself these questions.
      Good luck to you!

The reason Adam and Eve immediately hated themselves after they sinned and covered themselves is because they, in sinning, turned away from God and therefore turned away from themselves since their bodies reflected God. God didn't give them clothes because He chose to and He was "covering us in His glory"; that entire context was telling us about how we fell out of His glory. Clothing only came into play when shame, brokenness, evil, and sin did meaning that it's a symbol of these things and the broken bond between God and man. Being ashamed of your image is being ashamed of God's and He didn't create us to be ashamed of His masterpiece and bury it down to where nobody can see it, He created us to display our art in a museum and be happy when someone gazes upon our beauty. That's why people like David, Esther and Isaiah all got elevated when they did this but Vashti, Micah and Isaiah's critics, who bashed them for it, got kicked to the curve. That's also why people today, who flaunt their bodies, make it big while those who bash them fade into nothing.*

My heart grieves as a Christian man that there are many sisters who actually dress imodestly in church and we are called to exhort one another on these matters and you did a wonderful job to help many sisters to consider what you stated so wonderfully to "dress for God" and for the Love of the brothers in the body of Christ and Yes! brothers should exemplify self-control. I will definitely continue to pray for you and thank you for being a light to so many women who are caught up in the world and social media. We would promote the naked body and being sexual and basically idolize those things, and do it under the guise of self love, empowerment, body positivity, etc. But really, if we are being honest with ourselves, it all comes from a vein place, a lustful place, and a place of wanting and needing to be idolized. It is completely self serving. This is why I realized I have to let it go as well. I no longer want to serve me, I want to serve the Lord and I no longer want to attract anything or anyone that doesn't serve the Lord. So I have to change how I move about in this world. Christ commanded both and I thank Him for giving you the grace to do it. This was a lesson for me. So refreshing to see a young, beautiful woman understand modesty. It gives me hope for the younger generation of Christians. To paraphrase C.S. Lewis from "The Four Loves" - Love says "What can I do for you?" and Lust says "What can you do for me?" A lot of young girls leave nothing to the imagination and a guy's imagination is one of the biggest things you can have going for you. I like the fact that you brought out that we need to help out the guys. Even at church, I see young women wearing shorts that look more like denim underwear and when I see someone on tv dressed immodestly singing a Christian song, I can't help but wonder if they are competing with God for the attention. Same way with a news anchor that has on the short, low cut dress. They will be reporting on a serious situation but their attire is so distracting it makes you wonder why they wanted to go into a high profile job.
