I don't think people realize the amount of guts it takes to ride terrain like this, alone, thousands of miles from home. Bravo Landon. You have my respect my friend. You are an inspiration for me. I'm a few weeks away from having the money saved up to make my trip. Just amazing footage man.
@@veiledallegory I agree, however, good thing was that he was probably less than 20 miles from "help" and seemed prepared enough (i.e. food and camping supplies) to hike out if needed, even more so considering there was a water source nearby. It sure takes a lot of restraint not to pass that "point of no return" and most of us have been in similar situations at least once before as dirt bikers. Getting his bike out could have been a different story. Regardless, glad everything worked out and hopefully he doesn't put himself in that position again...a learning experience for sure.
My friend with the limited knowledge you have on the area. Please with humble curiosity I ask how do you know with such surety that it was "Poor judgement! Period" ??? Period insinuating what? That you have 100% surety in your opinion? Im not trying to be confrontational either, Im gently curious what information you have to make speak like that?
Dirt Bike trails I appreciate your wisdom here. Im gonna wait for Veiledallegory to respond and then I will release more information on why I dont believe it was poor judgment. But to answer yourself yes I felt prepared to take on the challenge. However no I do not regret going there or how the day turned out. It's exactly the type of adventure I want to be on and I don't feel like carless amounts of risk were taken.
Thanks my friend! Yeah the stresses and pressure when you are alone are 10 fold versus when you have someone with you. I never felt like this road provided any more inherent risk to my life than other trails ive been on other than dropping the bike and not being able to get it out. So it was very adrenaline packed, while in my opinion not too life threatening.
WOW! The BEST video yet so far! Was starting to get worried when I didn't see your Sunday/Wednesday video. Now I know why. Thanks Landon for the footage!

Man this is some of the gnarliest riding I’ve ever seen you do! Was for sure the right decision to call it and get some rest, stupid/dangerous mistakes happen when riding exhausted.
It was for sure the hardest route I’ve done on this trip! You’re totally right! You get tired and you start making mistakes you normally wouldn’t. Then it’s just a vicious cycle downward till you or the bike get’s messed up.
Dang Landon do you have a mini Sat phone or Garmin InReach? You get injured out there ain't no one going to find you for weeks or months! If you're going to keep doing stuff like this I would recommend caring a Garmin mini InReach like Itchy Boots. Stay safe!

Yeah thats the risk with anytime you get kinda far out and then add a level of technical riding to it and it can get in trouble. But I have a Garmin inreach so thats what I use to help in the case of anything catastrophic like a broken leg

Hahaha just watching you are exhausted! That is right my friend! This day took it out of me! haha Yeah the point of no return is a interesting topic and I want to study it a bit more and solidify my feelings there, the most important thing I believe is you just have to realize you are passing it. As long as you realize you are about to pass it, then in that moment you make an assessment and say is it better to return or continue forward. Here I deciding to go forward since the distance to water and people wasn't too far maybe 8 miles. Not like a town or anything, but little ranches. Breastfeeding babies😂😂 Sinewan is a legend! But yeah he's on a massive bike that can only take him so deep.
Wow - it's so great to see your videos - they are truly inspiring! I've been watching most from the beginning and really enjoy seeing your travels. Your videography skills capture and portray the moments really well. I dream of one day riding through the Americas and expanding my adventures beyond Baja California and the US Southwest. This year has been a tough one for me for a variety of reasons and is the first in a long time I haven't been able to ride consistently, but your videos help keep the dream alive! Keep up the great work and great to see you living your dreams!
Thanks brother! I appreciate all the kind words! This area was incredible! While super difficult and hard, it was such an adventure. I loved it! I hope you can get out there soon my friend! Im glad the videos are motivating and hope this finds you well
This is why I've been subscribed to this channel from the start of your adventure since crossing the US border. You're the real deal when it comes to true adventure riding!! Loved this video--I'm assuming that you slid your way down the rest of the mountain safely?? We'll find out soon.
Thanks brother! Thats kind of you to say. Yeah without ruining the surprise too much, I did make it down the mountain. You'll see what happens on Wednesday
Was wondering why it took so long for this video, glad to see you’re safe. I’ve been hooked on your actual reality adventures but man, oh man, be safe brother biker, be safe and God be with you on this treacherous leg of your journey. ❤ Keep the rubber side down.
Hahah Abigail you got the first comment! yeah took a bit longer I apologize! Thats awesome hear you are enjoying the videos that much! I makes making them so much more fun knowing people enjoy them. Same to you be safe out there 👍
Some of the hardest riding I've seen. So much work just to keep the bike up and getting up those hills with the slickness is crazy. Don't know how your muscles can even handle picking that bike up after all that.
Wow! That was a very intense ride! Rough and breathtaking ( literally).so glad you made it. I was concerned, wondering what happened since you didn't post a video.with a sigh of relief I'm so happy for you! Beautiful scenery, very rugged trail! Take care .. As always cool (hot) ride!😊
yeah sorry about making you guys wait and for worrying about me. I am safe and everything is okay right now. This trail was hard, but man was it fun and special to be out there
This is some gnarly shit. Haven't been able to keep up while I'm on my own adventure, but saw your instagram post describing this and had to come watch. Bravo, gonna watch part 2 tomorrow. Keep it up, you are doing shit most that most people, myself included, would have turned around long ago.
I ride this kinda stuff all the time in the Alberta Rocky mountains, but I do it on a quad, those who do it on dirt bikes either work way too hard or can't make it through nasty terrain. You did a great job!
Thats awesome brother. Alberta is incredible and the riding is world class. Yeah it was a struggle bus forsure. Also I would pay a lot of money to see someone attempt this on a quad.
@LandonBishoff when you decide to come to Alberta hit me up and I'll show you some stuff! I'll get you a ride so you can have fun instead of working your butt off (Although I know you are enjoying yourself and the adventure)! To be fair, some days my tires are in the air more than on the ground. Lol We've got good insurance, and winches! 🤣
Hahha good insurance is nice peace of mind when your riding like that haha. Yeah I love Alberta and got lots of friends in southern Alberta. What part are you in?
@LandonBishoff in Sylvan Lake, about 1 hour from the mountains. Going to be heading out there again in a couple weeks, then I will stay out there until the snow flies! My husband takes me out and drops me off somewhere with my dog, gun, rv, quad, and sxs. Then he shows up when he can. Friends also come out wherever I'm camping when they can and we get some riding in and enjoy the mountains! I've always got extra room for a guest, open invitation!
The lady was right , she didn't recommend it ! Can u imagine if night catches you and with rain ! I"m glad u all right !! Dangerous journey video !! Thanks for sharing !
WOW. Makes me wonder if when you asked those guys if it was passable and they were oh yea… wonder if they took bets and laughed like maniacs about whether you could make it. I’m soo worried about you Landon. Especially about the water. Do you have one of those straw type things that makes it possible to drink any water? Those drop offs were really scary. I’m praying for you. Please don’t make us wait until next Sunday. Let us know if you’re ok. Stay safe and God Bless. Obviously you’re ok or we wouldn’t be seeing this video but did you make it unscathed??
Yeah I don't think they were malicious in any way, I just don't think they knew I wanted to go all the way across per say. They also just mainly acknowledged that their was a trail. Yeah I mean the straws only work if there's water in the first place. I have pot to boil water clean it that way and tablets to purify as well. It turned out fine, but yes I ran out of water and it was a rough night of camping. Yeah the next video will be out on Wednesday.
hay amigo! exactly trails like this are the reason why I travel with a 450 as well! in October I´ll ship my bike to Chile and discover America Latina. maybe we get the chance to meet in the middle haha. enjoy ur riding. you are doing nice videos. me gusta mucho hermano. espero hasta la proxima.
Thats awesome my friend! yeah I just don't see how physically it would have been possible for a big bike to make it though this. Throw the best riders on a bike that weighs 500 pounds and this is just not happening. The weight of the bike and the mud would have just funneled you into the massive wash outs and holes. Some parts the holes went up to my chest and above my head. Drop 500 pounds of bike in that and its over. Even with the light bike you drop it in there and its gonna be a mission to get it out
@@LandonBishoff yeah I saw it how ruff it was haha. props for that. I love it to ride around with a light bike. you are never getting in troubles like with a big bike ;)
That was intense bro, glad you didn’t get hurt, dirt roads here are no joke and this is not dry season! is the opposite! be safe specially when camping near rivers or those ruts a tiny stream can turn into a huge flood in just an hour or 2. I did a two track route the other way, from venao up, pretty hard but nothing like this one, it’s on wikiloc
Yeah your totally right! The time this was filmed was in the dry season though. The videos are a bit behind. Do you live in Venao? I really liked it there.
damn dude that was some rough terrain. and I know video does not give an accurate account of how steep. good job on your riding skills. I think your expert now ready for some hard endures. lol.
Hahah thanks brother! Yeah this was the toughest riding on the trip so far easily. Doubt I’m expert, but having a light bike can definitely make me look better than I am haha
Hey Andy! Yeah to be honest I actually don't use a mic. I have the go pro media mount and then I select to only use the rear Mic on that. But no inside mic. However I don't think this is always the best set up. In the future I would like to find a mic for inside my helmet.
I've come across roads like this twice in my motorcycle riding life. You get past the point of no return and start thinking about your life choices. Btw, I did them on a Husqvarna 701. Get a life straw, water is life brother.
Yeah I think the biggest lesson is like you are saying. You gotta always be thinking can I go back can I return. That hill I went down can I make it up.. To the point where you have to be able to make aware of the point of no return before you pass it. Once you see it then you evaluate if it's better to press on or return. In this case I was closer to people/help to go forward then to go backwards so I went forward. Also I new water was closer forward in the river. I got lucky with the rain caught some in the tarp and so I didn't make the walk down for it that night and chose to deal with it in the morning. Also the life straw only works if there's water in the first place. So the life straw isn't the issue, I can boil water, and I have purification tablets to clean water. The lesson learned is pack more water and be able to to carry more water with me.
@LandonBishoff Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've been a fan of yours since the start of your channel. I thoroughly enjoy your content. I wasn't trying to pick you apart. Each person knows their kit and hopefully can realize the ways that they failed in their planning. Live and learn, brother man. Keep up the great work, and stay safe.
Thanks brother! yeah no I didn't feel like you were attacking or anything. I appreciate all the comments and especially one from someone like yourself that has been watching from the beginning and has an interest in looking out for me. Thanks again! And yeah I always respond to the comments on here. So feel free to ask, or say anything you'd like one here👍
yes brother you are 100% right! water over food! To be honest I just thought id make it to the river sooner. To be clear It was never out of the option to walk down to the river and get a drink. I also have a Garmin in reach if I got hurt.
That's certainly hanging it out there. Surprised you don't have more subscribers yet. I much prefer your real adventure to the fluffed up commercial "adventurers" And cleaning the line is completely acceptable when you're riding for survival, not recreation. Stay safe.
Yeah haha normally up in Idaho or anywhere I guess, I was always taught you never move or adjust the trail to accommodate your skill level. If an obstacle presents itself as too challenging you go around, you go back, you get your buddy to do it for you, or you place a temporary aid to help you that you then go back and remove. Then after that you consider going back to easier trails and practicing the skills you lack. But yes I agree in this case, on an abandoned trail in the no issues altering the road to help you. Its just an eye opener to where you're at, and current skill level. Thanks Brother
33:30 why no engine braking on first gear? I am born near mountains and we do that in every vehicle besides new hybrids that have electric braking special mode 36:17 holy moly yep the guys in city were right lol 40:50 THAT'S A RIVER BED NOT A ROAD LOL
How much of a necessity do you think it is to speak Spanish when traveling down there? Would a basic comprehension be enough to start with and hopefully get better as one makes their way through?
Its a good question Chris! I would answer it this way. The more of language you know, the more fun you'll have, the more connection you'll feel to the people and the places. You'll inherit an additional level of safety since you'll be able to gather information better, and be able to explain yourself. etc. However you don't have to know it to go. A basic comprehension is a great place to be in to be able to go. Add a desire to keep learning and you'll be in a great spot. I don't know where you live, but Im sure being down there you'll learn way more than you could at home. But yes a basic comprehension is good enough to get down there
I don’t think any other UA-cam traveler would have attempted that trail but I don’t think that’s because you are brave. I think it’s because they are older and make better choices. You made some bad choices on this episode. I hope you learned from this experience and don’t try something like this again!!!
I commented on your earlier comment you made below on this video saying I had poor judgment. So I'll just pose the same question here as well.. What information do you have to claim that I made bad choises? Even to extent where you say "I should never try something like this again"? Again Im writing this with genuine curiosity and not with a contention. Im genuinely trying to seek understanding.
I don't think people realize the amount of guts it takes to ride terrain like this, alone, thousands of miles from home. Bravo Landon. You have my respect my friend. You are an inspiration for me. I'm a few weeks away from having the money saved up to make my trip. Just amazing footage man.

Same to you be safe out there 👍
Your tougher than me...and a whole lot crazier.....but you seem to be able to handle it...great job.....going to view part 2....Garth
Haha yeah I don’t know you, but I might be quite a bit dummer that’s for sure haha 🤣 Enjoy Garth! 👍👍
Wow wow amazing guts for your ride ,one of the best I’ve seen mate.
Thanks brother! It was a blast honestly!
Some of the hardest riding I've seen. So much work just to keep the bike up and getting up those hills with the slickness is crazy. Don't know how your muscles can even handle picking that bike up after all that.
Adam this day kicked my butt man! A lot of calories on this one, but man it was fun!
That’s awesome brother! Stay safe out there as well!
oh wow, my respect
Thanks👍
RIDEHARD
Yes sirrr!!👍
Woahhh that sounds super fun! Dog, Rv, Guns is good combo always! Not sure when ill be back in Canada, but sounds awesome to stop by!
Oh my WOW! Intense!! Safe travels!
Thanks Nona! 👍👍
The lady was right , she didn't recommend it ! Can u imagine if night catches you and with rain ! I"m glad u all right !! Dangerous journey video !! Thanks for sharing !
Haha she was right! Pretty rough, but makes for good stories right!
Homie your chain is LOOOSE!
Hahah sooo loose! yeah In the video you can literally hear it haha
That has been very inspiring video, I'm ready to do my own thing with the 500 too. Cheers brother, be safe
Thats incredible Marck! Where you gonna go first?
@@LandonBishoff I will do the full UK TET, starting in 2 weeks for a month or so. And then next year full time from Usuaia to Alaska. Cheers mate
Way cool brother! Ive been really curious about the TAT. Dang my guy your gonna send it big time! Thats awesome
@@LandonBishoff Thanks for inspiring me brother. Stay safe
Glad you went for it!
Me too my guy! Me too!
hay amigo! exactly trails like this are the reason why I travel with a 450 as well! in October I´ll ship my bike to Chile and discover America Latina. maybe we get the chance to meet in the middle haha. enjoy ur riding. you are doing nice videos. me gusta mucho hermano. espero hasta la proxima.
Yeah it's really comforting to know at any moment I can take off my bags and I have a dirt bike! haha
Epic dude!!
👍👍
damn dude that was some rough terrain. and I know video does not give an accurate account of how steep. good job on your riding skills. I think your expert now ready for some hard endures. lol.
Hahah thanks brother! Yeah this was the toughest riding on the trip so far easily. Doubt I’m expert, but having a light bike can definitely make me look better than I am haha
GoPro problems made me switch to the DJI Osmo Action.
And what do you think? Much better?
@@LandonBishoff definitely better!
Interesting! We’ll have to buy one and check it out after this trip
Top, hugs brazil
Wohooo! Thanks Alex
Epic!
👍👍
Dear please stay SAFE
Thanks! No promises, but I will do my best
What do you use for a mic while riding?
So feel free to ask, or say anything you'd like one here👍
My dude, that is hard riding in slick clays..water over food next time✌️
yes brother you are 100% right! water over food! To be honest I just thought id make it to the river sooner. To be clear It was never out of the option to walk down to the river and get a drink. I also have a Garmin in reach if I got hurt.
That's certainly hanging it out there.
Surprised you don't have more subscribers yet. I much prefer your real adventure to the fluffed up commercial "adventurers"
And cleaning the line is completely acceptable when you're riding for survival, not recreation.
40:38 CRAP!
Hahah
33:30 why no engine braking on first gear? I am born near mountains and we do that in every vehicle besides new hybrids that have electric braking special mode
36:17 holy moly yep the guys in city were right lol
40:50 THAT'S A RIVER BED NOT A ROAD LOL
No engine breaking because I like to let the engine rest when I’m going that slow. The KTM500 does overheat a bit.
What a views
👍
That was some insane trail riding.. those weren’t ruts, they were fissures 😅.. never have “No” in your heart, it’s what I’m saying
Hahha thats that texas desert wisdom coming into play.. Yeah honestly though some were deep enough to just swallow me whole.
