In today’s video, we are talking all about my top 5 favorite alternatives to jeans. Jeans are great, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes (most of the time) they can be really uncomfortable. So if you work from home but are still exploring your personal style and trying to look put together, it can be tricky finding things that are comfortable when you’re working all day. That’s where these 5 bottoms come in! Trousers, linen pants, stretchy shorts, wide leg pants, and floral skirts can be the ticket to dressing up while working from home but still being super comfortable. I actually don't wear jeans at all anymore! I had the same realization as you, that they're just uncomfortable. I now wear elasticated (big bud press) trousers, mini and midi skirts, and dresses. That's it! Elasticated waistbands are now a requirement for all pieces in my wardrobe. As a vocalist with asthma and digestive issues, it just makes sense!

A great incentive for anyone who wants to learn to sew…elastic waist pants are the easiest thing in the world to sew! Sustainable brand Elizabeth Suzanne has drafted sewing patterns of some of their classic pieces! They also sell the fabric they use. I was able to make their Clyde Workpant ($200) for about $50 using their ethically sourced linen!
I love the crocheted cardigan, your Grandma has a great sense of color. I think the colors she used are beautiful, and very wearable, unlike many I’ve seen.

Yes! Pants should be comfy. I find though with skirts that I get a lot of chafing, so I just wear some bike shorts underneath and problem solved- I fell just as comfy and secure as when I wear pants
I can totally relate to this!! After all these years I realised that I’ve never really gravitated towards jeans/denim nor ever get excited about wearing them/finding the perfect pair 😅 and found it really frustrating when every capsule wardrobe/wardrobe must-haves include them.. until I decided to just get rid of denim completely from my wardrobe last year😂 I live in a tropical country so I live in my cotton/linen pants and skirts, and I love my tailored trousers too! It's brilliant you found a way to include the cardi your grandmother made. What a great way to add personality and heart to a capsule. Not that your capsules are ever lacking in that!
I actually haven’t worn true jeans in years! After I had my first baby my hips were too wide to fit back into my jeans from my 20s. I donated them all and began wearing skirts, cargo pants, gaucho (flares), and things with elastic waistbands.
My favorite replacement for jeans in cold weather are American Eagle Outfitters “360 Super Stretch” “Jeggings”, which look like jeans, but are in fact very stretchy material. I got a couple on Poshmark and they’ve been a favorite when I’m not wearing skirts or dresses.
The shorts really suit you. Love the green trousers and cardi. Refreshing change of simplicity.
One thing I have to say,is that the cardigan sweater is so much of a treasure. Obviously one reason is that it was made specially for you from your Grandma ( my Grandma was like a best friend to me!😊❤️) secondly,those block afghan pieces are becoming popular again with the 70's retro look and the design really stands out!🎆I really like the skirt idea. The blue flowers on a dark background pop!💙🖤

My favorite alternative to jeans in my closet is a thrifted pair of pull on black flares from UO. They are high waisted, soo comfy and give my outfit a cool minimalist vibe when I add strappy sandals and tank top. I’ve recently discovered your channel and I love each of your videos. My style is different from yours but I absolutely love your capsule philosophy and your sentiments around clothing. When you said your grandmother helped you with the top you’re wearing (in a diff video), I thought to myself omg this is my new Internet clothing person, that is so so cool and very very sweet! ❤️ That kind of thoughtfulness shows up in the way you present yourself and keeps you forever chic.

I agree with your comment about a new pair of pants opening the door for a lot more wardrobe combos! In the last few weeks I've bought some different types of pants to try and look a bit more dressy at work but still comfy!

Those pleated trousers are CA-UTE! Need me some of those. I usually reach for linen joggers or silk midi skirts for alternatives from denim, although I do love my ribcage jeans.

Clever video. I do wear elastic waist jeans and cropped jeans. Also I have several pairs of long and cropped yoga type stretch pants that have regular elastic waists. I am starting to replace some of these bottoms with wide leg crops, linen pants, and midi skirts that I am sewing. Thanks, Lauren.

My alternatives to jeans are almost jeans. They are demi boot cut style corduroy pants in either grey or burgundy. They have a little more stretch than traditional denim but they are far far far from stretchy jeans. I put away the burgundy after winter and the grey after spring.

I actually never like jeans. I liked how they look on but they a lot uncomfortable to wear. I like trousers from banana republic. It’s tricky because I’m a petite and curvy so it’s hard to find pants and skirts that fit. I really like the cardigan your granny made you with the granny square.

Never liked jeans, give up years ago, then I started wearing more dresses and skirts and realized that my favorite piece is Dresses, I love them and feel really good wearing them so I stop buying and wearing pants.
Now 90% of the times I wear dresses, the other 10% skirts

I thought that was just me who really doesn’t gravitate toward jeans/jean shorts. My struggle I don’t like wide leg on me. Love them on other people just not me.

Jeans can look great but are the most uncomfortable garments ever made. They’re thick, rough, hot, ride up, shimmy down, and are inflexible. The waistbands are always too tight on me, and the hips ridiculously large, they stick out like flaps; they just don’t suit my slim-hipped, rectangular figure. I have one current (bought last month) pair of white ones, but will only wear them if I absolutely must. I love dresses and skirts, and knit pants or leggings (for at home) if it’s really cold. But, here in Northern California, I can always wear a knit midi-dress with long socks at home and knee-high boots to go out, in our mild “cold” weather.
