I had the immense privilege of seeing her live. She opened for Depeche Mode at the Rose Garden arena in Portland, Oregon. She stole the show, and was better than DM. I have all her records. I wish she were still performing.
There's still plenty of good music being made, you just have to look for it now. Back then it was everywhere; television, radio. Rock music dominated media. There's still a lot of great rock music being made, but it isn't as prevalent in the media anymore. If you're looking for a rocking female, check out Meg Myers, in particular any live performance of her song "Desire." There's also a British blues rock performer by the name of Oli Brown who is fantastic, and he also fronts a band called RavenEye that's pretty good. It's certainly easy to wish for the old days, and I definitely miss a lot of those bands and that music from the early to mid-1990s. But there's plenty of quality stuff if you can find it.
