FYI - When overtaking, it is legal to pinch the outside line to force them to yield. Found even in skip barber's training video. The pass people are arguing about is a legal and fair pass.

This is why I don't like online games, except FPS. Kids everywhere. This is why I'm sad when I see that certain games are online exclusive, when the offline experience with IA would be a lot better.
IRacing is not a normal online experience. Almost every race is legitimately competitive with people who actually know what they're doing.

Flammen. Well, no. Iracing is one of the best online racing simulators out there at the moment. You only have problems in the rookie series, as you progress further the races get cleaner. Look at games like Simraceway, there all the "rookies" are crammed together.
Flammen. It also depends on which series you are competing in. Some are MUCH better than others my friend. Even several of the lower license series like the SRF have fantastic racing. You just have to find it unfortunately...

Poon Handler uhm no. First of all people do get banned as I have seen it myself when I reported a guy for intentional wrecking. You can't find him anymore, so he is gone.
And you don't get a penalty that makes you slow down when you hit someone. You either get 1 incident point or 4 depends on how hard you hit him. You get a penalty that makes you slow down for cutting the course or exceeding track limits too far.
That could actually injure someone with a direct drive wheel because you’re in no way seeing that coming.

That happens in EVERY racing game ever. Sadly, ego of some people is just too high for them to handle.
I'm probably going to be unpopular for this comment, let's take it in stages:
Stage 1: The early/late braking, that's just a racing incident, perhaps he should have braked earlier to avoid you, but sometimes these things happen. I don't really apportion blame to anyone.
Stage 2: The "overtake", I dispute your claim that you were in front, you were side by side going in to that chicane. You should have left room for him, or ideally just backed out of it. That is not an overtaking place, it was far too ambitious and you should have at LEAST left a cars width to your right to give him room. I place the blame for that incident solely on you! If you are faster, be patient, wait for a better opportunity, it will come.
Stage 3: The retaliation, absolutely no excuse for this! Yes he was angry, yes he had a right to be annoyed with you. But that is NO EXCUSE for deliberately wrecking. This should be reported through the iRacing Protest system.
Conclusion: You made a mistake, you need to recognise that and work harder to avoid getting into that situation in future. The other driver should be reported!
Why should he have backed out? He had the position, the guy in the orange car should have backed out
I dispute that he "had the position" the racing line for that chicane is from the outside, the Orange and Pink cars are both on the racing line. He was on the inside and NOT ahead of the other car. The first part of the chicane was fine, the Orange car left room for him on the inside, that's good, considerate driving. If you look at how the Pink car behind them takes the chicane, that's the racing line, now you can see how the Orange car gave him space.
In return room should have been left for him on the inside of the second part of the chicane. Instead he cut across in front of the Orange car and left him nowhere to go!
I agree on the fact that he cut him off, but have you ever been to Zolder? That is *definitely* an overtaking place, one of the very heavy braking zones that are characteristically for Zolder.
The real error was that both cars weren't door-to-door at the entrance of the chicane, which caused "Blue" to cut the racing line of "Orange". Still not a fair overtake, but just as much a racing incident as the previous one.
Still no reason to take him out like that, people who do this shit should get banned for week or so (would in real racing) to many people like this on iracing. I thought was ment to be real racers not banger drivers, love the game just to may people who push past there limits and say it's you.

Right... so as childish as his actions were, the title of this video is just as much so. That was a HORRIBLE pass, you were not past him you were even, he had the racing line, there was no reason for you to knock him off track. What he did wasn't great either, but you can't blame him or call him the "biggest idiot ever" cause you pissed him off with a shitty pass.
Jacob Clark His pass was fine. An inside line run from that far up beside the other car is the right off way all day long. You cant expect to go into a chicane 2 wide and if you are on the outside, you give way. Good pass aggro but good. The orange idiot should have stayed wide braked early driven through the corner at higher speed and taken him back on the exit... like a real driver would have tried to do.

I had a similar case, it was not more clear than yours at all. One idiot wanted revenge by one stupid incident he made with a stupid move and try to destroy my race 2 times in that race. He made damages at my car by hitting me, he tried to destroy my race again by a very evident wrecking move, I recorded in a video-proof and iRacing marshalls say it was not a wrecking move.
My poker face was over 9000.

this is a perfect example were BOTH drivers are too aggressive in both cases. In both cases the two drivers are just way too racey and dont have the skills to race yet. Instead of racing fair with space ... no ... you want close races. This is why people cant get out of rookies.
uh.... if you leave that much space on the inside of a corner, there is always a driver that will go for that inside angle. the one who leaves so much space for the inside corner angle, should adapt to the fact that someone is on his/her right or left of the car and apply that to his or her driving. if that driver cant do that, in this video orange car, then he/she is not qualified for this game. just an obvious troll. i ve had plenty of other drivers pass me on turns where i leave the inside angle open , thats on me . i let the angle open. should i retaliate too when drivers pass on me? or should i make sure the angle is closed?

The first contact was a racing incident. Two cars that close, minor touches like that happen. Its unfortunate that the blue car came out of it with a slow down penalty.
The second contact was actually the blue cars fault. He did NOT leave room for the orange car after breaking too late and carrying too much speed to make the corner two wide.
And yes the 3rd incident was totally reportable.

The few bad drivers like the orange/brown car, make iRacing look bad. In reality 90% of the drivers race as clean and are enjoyable to race with.

I've reported a guy once for this kind of behavior. I didn't cut him off though. But your earlier move is no excuse for him to behave like that.
iRacing picked up my complaint within an hour and reprimanded the wrecker. I'm not sure how, because they don't disclose that information. But I was very happy with the way iRacing handled this.
The guy that got reprimanded looked me up on Facebook and started threatening my life. So I guess they reprimanded him enough for him to be pissed :).
I get sick of people who bump into me. I've lost count of how many races I probably would've won if it weren't for people spinning me out. And when these Mazdas lose control, they REALLY lose control.

I am always looking in my rear mirror for this kind of player when I play racing games. Hilarious but not when it happens to you!
One time in Lime Rock Park (Mazda cup) I was side by side with the leader in the right uphill corner which cost me speed. Therefore I was slow through the chicane and still slow on the exit when the guy behind me just stayed in the throttle like he wanted to drive through me.

+russell lowe He would expect him to take it on the chin. That orange car bumped him earlier, forced him off track and made him lose 3 spots... Later in the race, he makes an aggresive, forceful overtake on the orange car, making the orange car lose 1 spot. Then he decides that losing 1 spot to the guy he costed 3 spots requires retaliation, and he then takes himself and the other car out.

Ik ben het met die eerste comment een beetje eens,
maar wat ik zou zeggen is dat in stage 2 jij wel erg fanatiek met je inhaal actie bent.
In die situaties of soortgelijke situaties moet je rijden op een manier dat je er altijd vanuit gaat dat de ander niet terughoudend zal racen, en dus altijd zal proberen om naast me te blijven in zo een chicane.
Daarom in mijn rijtechniek zit er de aanpassing, dat als ik in die situatie terecht kom, "net niet ingehaald, zij aan zij, chicane op komst" dat ik toch iets eerder rem, en net mijn auto zo zet dat hij toch die buitenlijn moet nemen, waardoor ik als we de chicane uitkomen met meer momentum de bocht uitkom en hem op acceleratie op de volgende rechte stuk inhaal. Forceer hem een langzamere lijn te rijden is meestal DE manier om anderen in tehalen. Jezelf in een bocht forceren en de lijn claimen, werkt alleen met super serieuse gamers, of real life.
Tis iets voor de gevorderde rijder, je moet jezelf leren geduldiger en slimmer te zijn dan de tegenstander. Vooral als je later in iRacing op een hoger niveau bent, zul je ook langere races rijden, waar je de manier waarop jij rijdt echt niet wilt zien, omdat niemand dat overleeft. Bij A of B licence komt alles aan op geduld, ik zou bij D of C licence jezelf alvast aanleren op die manier te gaan rijden, dan pluk je daar later de vruchten van.

Honestly, you knew he was there, he had no where to go while he had the racing line, so a bit of early braking would have put you right on his rear bumper to have a honest go on the next opportunity

I was playing multiplayer on F1 2012 and a guy had damage sim on full. So when the race started he would push me into the wall so I had damage or spun out and win. I eventually got tired of it and went full speed into a chicane and crashed him. Then he got mad and left

what happened in the chicane was more of a racing incident what he did on the otherhand was just plain stupid and should result in a race ban.
Would I be frustrated with AfterBurner's move? Yes. But, I would hope to make a run back towards the front, or if I go a lap down due to damage suffered, I would simply do as iRacing insists of a lap down car. Hold a lane. If you pissed me off, I'll make sure to hold the lane you want. If not, I'll move out of the way and let you run off.
iRacing isn't just racing. It's learning to respect on the track, something a lot of people don't understand. Especially for short track ovals like I race. You can't give someone the boot just for the position, because they can make your race quite difficult.
after reading through most comments i finally noticed the most important part of racing and racing game probably, Respect!!!
This is the Grand Touring Series, for class D drivers. Im not going to say they are all still "noobs", they are not. But this series are still in the early ascension of this beautifull game's learning curve. Consider this, if this was in the rookie mazda cup series, there would be contacts along those straights, left and right, back to front, etc... This time they actually tried to avoid contact, they just failed. In mazda cup series they would just grab a hold on the lead like an old lady in a traffic jam.
If you have a class C, id sugest you move up on the series, maybe advanced mazda cup? You will find drivers that are way up on that learning curve, and that can actually simulate the racing experience, not just drive it like they stole it, do or die, now or never kind of experience.
Qualifying is about speed, i agree. but Racing is about experience and patience. Most times the actual winner is not the fastest guy in track.
I would back off on that "overtake" in the chicane, and trap him into an overtake somewhere safer, not for him, but for me.
Every situation of this kind forces you to learn something. Every pilot out there as gone through this evolution.
Now for that last part, id say "2 week kick", he doesnt belong on a racing track. In real life he would be banned from racing, at least on that country or in those series. It would have been a lovely overtake 3rd to 1st if he was playing rfactor. But not iracing.
I agree with snomedia, just avoid these situations, they only hurt your racing. I prefer to have a bad driver in front of me, rather than in my tail, im not saying bad drivers are slow drivers, most of the times they are the fast ones, and they are planned to eradicate you from the race, so avoid them, let them pass. You can giggle later about how they managed to wreck themselves and one or two of your opponents.
From this video id say the guy that ended up in 1st is the smarter one, he gave everyone plenty of space, avoided contacts and ended up winning, probably.
I'm going to be honest, I can't be bothered to read this whole thing. Some of your sentences run on a bit too long, and bore me too much.
His first hit on you was a racing deal then you forced him off the track. You got what you deserved.
You don't look ahead of him in the braking zone to me. I could be argued that you dive bombed to get your nose ahead at corner entry and left him no room on the outside. No excuse for his retaliation but you share blame and maybe most of it for the contact in the corner.
