In order to put into context how badly Johnny Ace endangered Undertaker's life, you need to know that hepatitis C can be spread to others if the carrier's blood came into contact with someone's open wound, such as cuts or scratches. Had Undertaker accidentally cut himself during the match, and Bob Orton Jr's blood came into contact with any of the cuts or scratches, Taker himself may have gotten hepatitis C as a result. Plus, Johnny Ace already knew this, and not only sent out Bob Orton Jr anyway to bleed, but also fired the Cowboy rather than take responsibility for his own gaffe. You want a definition of gross incompetence, this is it.
Little detail about the HBK thing. That wasn't his first run. His first run was in 1987 with Marty Jannety, two weeks after they were signed they got fired. They went back to AWA, then a year later they went back to WWE, hence their second run. Then HBK split from Janetty during this run. So when HBK returned in '02 that was his 3rd run.

Some of these are understandable, as I probably wouldn't want to work with someone who broke my face or bled on me while having Hep C, plus Shawn was a prick back then. But others, like getting mad that Jericho called him boring or that Duke Droese was too good or DDP, in general, don't paint him in a great light. Really, from what I have seen, he kind of stunk during the whole Invasion angle, mostly because he didn't like working with the WCW guys. Though, from what I have heard, the DDP/Savage style of mapping out each move in a match did rub others the wrong way too, so I guess it wasn't just Undertaker.
@@daltonpinell6251 Yeah I am. Another small detail is that CM Punk was starting to work his way back up the card in late 2010 after Undertaker had wrestled his last matches as a full time wrestler. Both Punk and Taker said they had no problems with each other. Don't believe everything you hear on the net. Mention it enough times and people believe it to be true.
Oddly, Jericho might’ve been the first step in Taker switching to Biker Taker. He did say he felt his character was becoming stale and not relating to the new era of fans at the time.
The Jericho segment with Taker was actually golden when Taker said he got more shower time then Jericho did ring time and that if he ever interrupted his time again, that he'd pay the price. It was brilliant shooting that I get a kick out of because this was when Taker was hard on Big Show's ass about his ring performance.
undercutting the main event guys right before their planned match making them have to change most of it and the finish on the fly is still pretty shitty.
Laurinaitis never cared about the health of the boys. Never forget when he made Hardcore Holly work with a staph infection that got so bad doctors told him he needed an arm amputated. Bob was fine with working hurt as he always wanted to give back to the fans. So he put off his treatment. Then he found out Laurinaitis wanted him to put it off to work battle royales at house shows that he wasn't even winning. He made this man almost lose an arm because he needed an extra body in a battle royale.
Duke drose was actually my math teacher in elementary school at centertown elementary in mcminnville Tennessee he had to have one of his feet amputated and then got caught selling his prescription pain killers to an undercover cop and ended up doing some jail time now he works for drug court in the 31st judicial system of Tennessee
I would not have lasted long back then as I’m not one to keep my mouth shut. Especially if someone tells me that I’m working too hard and I should tone it down because they want to be lazy. Also, there are very few people who didn’t have heat with Vince Russo. Though as it would turn out, maybe he wasn’t the worst Vince at that company after all.
The thing with the "tone it down" is those guys who would go all out and put on a hell of a match, didn't wrestle nearly as often as the main eventers/guys who told them to turn it down
As a character, lotta love for the Undertaker but when you hear some of the stuff about him backstage he actually sounds a bit of an egotistical twat in a lot of the cases. The DDP one in particular was just petty as hell. Really no need for any of it.
Especially true about DDP. Goes for the attitude (no pun intended) of the rest of the Fed Locker Room towards WCW performers. Just proving Al Snow right about the industry being dominated by prima donnas.
Undertaker has said that actually, it was a botched clothsline that caused the broken orbital bone, not the leg drop. Also, remember Mabel was only 20 or 21 at the time.
DDP was gonna do the script thing with Hardcore Holly, so Holly avoided DDP the whole day until they got in the ring, and just called it in the ring. This resulted in a pretty good match. I think Holly went about it better. Instead of ripping the script up he just found a way to make a compromise. Holly was old school and always calls matches in the ring so he did that, albeit doing certain key spots DDP wanted, as to meet in the middle. Unfortunately DDP over rotated on a Superplex he was hitting Bob with and hurt himself badly. But the rest of the match was good.
