I'm on a mission to go Behind The Wall with The Greatest Creatives in Music, Welcome to Episode 1! And the first person we are meeting is none other than the one and only Julia Michaels...
Julia Michaels is one of the biggest singers and songwriters in the world. In fact she’s behind some of Justin Bieber’s biggest songs, most of Selena Gomez’s biggest songs, as well as many of the biggest songs in the world. (Ed Sheeran, Hailee Steinfeld, Disney Channel) But many people had never heard her name. In fact, she didn’t want people to know her name. But what happens when one of the most talented songwriters writes a song that’s so personal that everyone wants it? And what happens when for the first time she chooses to come into the spotlight to release the song herself? Well, it’s about time we find out because my name is Daniel Wall and we’re going Behind The Wall with the one and only, Julia Michaels! Join me as we talk to Julia Michaels about her unbelievable story, the stories of how she made the biggest songs in music, her battle with stage fright, her advice for artists wanting to make it into the industry, rejection, how she accidentally sang on two of the biggest songs in music, and a special surprise!

Ugh the fact she's so hard on herself is sad but also so relatable. She's not only one of my favorite songwriters of all time but also one of my favorite musical artists. I love her voice!

I get where Julia is coming from for sure. When I sang in front of people for the first time, I got a lot of praise, but what also came with that was the expectation that I would continue to perform. The valedictorian of my high school even suggested I would release an album someday. I do write my own music, but I have no desire to go into the music business. I would get too overwhelmed by the constant need to put out music and the ravenous fans. I could never handle that. I think Julia is truly brave for putting herself in the spotlight. It takes so much courage to do that.
What is different with Julia is her prodigious songwriting talent. To write a hit song for Selena Gomez in under an hour, right off the top of her head, is unheard of until now.
She is undoubtedly a genius and this has been seen by all those who’ve asked her to help them to write songs.
From listening to her talk about her songwriting it seems she is blessed with an amazing ability and the words and music just come to her. The arrangement of the words to the music is brilliant in all of her songs.
Your mission is incredible and you have such a powerful way of storytelling. Julia has written so many hits!! Can't wait to see more episodes!!

Julia is just one of those pure souls. She doesn’t demand the limelight her talent deserves, she just gives to the world and hopes the world enjoys. The world of popular music needs more people like Julia Michaels.
So good that’s she calls out everyone involved and gives them their credit. Need more of that in the industry
ever since issues came out I fell in love with her and know pretty much every song of hers by heart. The fact that she is such a kind, funny lovely and delicate human is what makes her so special
I love how you acknowledge and show off her success, yet at the same time you treat her as a real person. Neither groveling as if to an idol nor downplaying her as an impressive creative.
I could hear this woman sing and talk forever she’s so talented and you can see and hear the passion in everything she does 💯❤️
I’ll just say that these type of interviews help my confidence so much. My biggest hurdle is always self confidence in my writing and knowing that the people that make the biggest hits are real people that have similar problems that I do puts me in such a great headspace. I’ll watch every interview like this. Thank you. Subscribed.

Never liked issues much but always thought she had an incredible voice and talent. After this I really like Julia Michaels! I’ve never thought it was possible to be a successful artist in that industry having bad anxiety. Really loved this beacon of light for us anxious folks 😅❤

Julia has been a huge inspiration to me for the longest time!! My newest fav is “sorry to me too”, I love the concept so much. One of my favorite lyrics of hers is “my friends they wanna take me to the movies, I tell ‘em to fu_n_k off I’m holding hands with my depression” because it describes so well the feeling of disconnection and isolation but in a humorous and relatable manner. Ugh I could go on, there are so many gems in her collection.
I’m just glad you had her on because she is a super talented writer! I mean I enjoy “singers” and all, but for me, the people actually writing the songs are where my respect and admiration reside.❤
Also, I love to see that she’s unconventional and introverted. She is refreshingly authentic. Glad to see her get the recognition she deserves. 🎉
