He is. Met him once in Greensboro, NC, and he was the kindest dude. Really went out of his way to be generous with his time and take pictures and just be an all-around good dude. Said some things about the origins of the Too-Sweet hand sign and NC State. Idk, I came out of it just being incredibly impressed with the dude. It made a big impression on me and I've been a fan ever since.

As much as I love listening to Jim, he's incredibly uneducated on politics, way too emotional and can't tolerate a different view point.
What did Obama save us from?
McCain-Palin. I think Palin was what most people worried about. McCain was old at the time and looked it, had he died in office Palin would've been President. McCain was also seen as pro-war since he was a Vietnam vet and around 2008 lots of America wanted out of the Middle East and didn't trust the Republicans as much after all the post 9/11 stuff. But beyond those issues, McCain wasn't that staunch of a Republican. He regularly worked with Democrats on passing bipartisan bills. (McCain actually ran against Bush for the Republican ticket in 2000 but couldn't get past Bush's connections. Which is kind of a bummer since McCain was again more willing to compromise with parties to get things done.)
2012, on the other hand, the Republicans wheeled out Mitt Romney who's a Mormon so he was seen by a lot of America as a religious nut and he was far more of a conservative. But the Republicans knew they had no chance to beat Obama in his second run, so they picked Romney as a fall guy. The Republicans had done that a few years before when they picked 73 year old Bob Dole to run against Clinton's second term. The Democrats have done it as well although they usually pick younger guys.

I have disliked Punk since he went straight to the main event at the ufc, tried to act like a tough guy to Mickey Gail by not even shaking his hand before the fight, only to be humiliated, and then following that disaster by being destroyed by a ufc cameraman in the following fight. I've never seen a 'pro' fighter not land a single meaningful strike in any of his fights, what an embarrassment.

Punk has also kind of sour toward AJ though. I remember an interview where he talks about AJ when TNA was hiring wrestlers exclusively TNA and not allowing them to compete in Ring of Honor. From what I remember, he more or less said that AJ didn't put up as much of a fight to help them, or at least that is what I remember about the interview. He talked like AJ's help would have been pivotal because he was the current champion.
So, I can kind of see where there is at least that unresolved issue. I'm kind of surprised the two don't really get along. They both live a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. AJ is a huge gamer, Punk is a huge comic fan. So, you would think that AJ would be somewhat interested in comics, and I would think that Punk probably owns at least one gaming console. Not to mention they both loved wrestling and have wrestled for the same promotions for years.
