Thanks for taking the time to film and explain this. I'm making some tube end caps and was having trouble figuring how to go about laying out the stitches. Seems so obvious now.
just going back a stitch make so much more sense than what i was imagining, i was trying to work out how you would change the spacing of the stitch holes around corners instead
Thanks for sharing your video I started making camera cases and use the box stich a lot .You have helped correct my stich and I notice you stich your own way like me not the whole 'Kata' way Awl in hand and needle in two fingers action if you know what I mean..Great work I have subscribed to you channel
Just getting in to leather work, and the first video of yours that i have seen - you got an instant sub as soon as you spoke. Us Yamyams have to stick together!
Very nice work.tell me I have to length`s of bridal veg tan leather bought to make heavy duty punch bag what do you reckon in your opinion what type of stitch would be proffered to join the leather together to make the cylinder shape, and how would you join the leather ,the leather is 3.00
You could make a punch with that angle that you need fir circles but you have to skive the edge free hand with you clicker knife round knife etc hope that helps a little
I've been doing mitered boxes for a bit better than 60 years. I've tried every knife I own. The main thing is they have to be super sharp and you have to take it slow. The bulk of mine have been cylindrical boxes. I also drill pilot holes with a very fine bit in a Dremel. It makes a good guide for the awl.

It's a strying stitch but for a punch bag I'd go wi an over lapped seam mate.. And just pair one see down a little
Great Work!! What kind of thread are you using?
perfect lesson. thank you
i use a thread called tiger thread. hope that helps.
Can i ask how thick the leather you are using is?
What size needles do you use?
I'm just starting leathercraft.
What is the best way to cut your edges at a 45 degree angle. I am especially interested in cutting circular pieces of leather.
You could make a punch with that angle that you need fir circles but you have to skive the edge free hand with you clicker knife round knife etc hope that helps a little
Thanks. FYI I am working on a design for a simple tool that will cut any edge at 45 degrees. That's why I asked/
