RAMDISK is used a lot more than you think. This is basically a tiny linux system that does nothing but load kernel modules and mount your real disk

I think the low read/write benchmark was due to the GPU’s memory clocks not changing. VRAM typically isn’t used as a storage drive and the GPU may not know to increase the memory frequency when running synthetic benchmarks. In theory, VRAM should be much faster than regular RAM, but of course it isn’t intended to be used as a storage medium on these terms so hiccups are a given. There is a reason why iGPU’s have lower memory bandwidth than dedicated ones.
As soon i saw dex arson i was all like omg he plays gd then i remembered you said you dont play gd But then.... What appeared on your desktop was..... com.robtopx.geometryjump oh my god
Well, VRAM isn't slow at all, it's sometimes waaaay faster than ram, mostly thanks to paralel reads and writes. The speed it operates at is for this card 8 times what you got. The bottleneck may be a cpu, as it has to process it, you cannot access it that easy, I'm speculating a bit. The PCIE shouldn't be bottleneck too, as it's speeds are enough for the newest gpus like AMD's Big Navy and NVIDIA's rtx 3000 series. So I think what happened is that the cpu slowed it down, as it had to manage the VRAM, because you don't really have direct way to use it for normal computing.
This comment is way too underrated. Thumbs up for ya, maybe somebody will reach it. But as you said, VRAM would be much faster if the GPU was the actual processing unit for this. Idk if somebody made an operating system for a graphics card yet tho.
@@mateuszkorzeniewski7006 thaks. As people were talking about ryzen 5000 and their smart memory, I understand a bit more about how the pcie and cpu communicate. The data between gpu's vram is communicating with cpu in 256mb chunks, which and just got rid of and amd cpu 5000 and amd gpu 6000 communicate with each other's memory directly. So the main bottleneck should be communication between gpu and cpu via the pcie in 256 mb chunks. I don't know how exactly it works though, but it should be good enogh

Since Windows Vista, every "optional" Windows feature is ALWAYS on disk. It only gets enabled or disabled according to user preferences or the Windows SKU that was installed. That's why you don't really free space up when disabling optional features. I actually hate this because it's a bloated mess and it explains why every new version of Windows thinks free space is unlimited. I miss the days when you actually installed or uninstalled features, and you needed the additional files from a CD or DVD to complete the process.
Hey Enderman, I encountered something interesting that you might want to investigate. When you create a file on NTFS whose extension ends in a space, weird things happen. The file will be listed in a directory but any attempt to get properties of the file will fail. It can't be renamed to move the space in explorer, and deleting the file will fail. However, upon using a tool to move the file to a filename with no space, the contents are restored. If the file's memory isn't indexed by ntfs, could the file be overwritten while in this pseudo-existing state by new file allocations?
Additionally, explorer will report different file sizes depending on where you look. I originally encountered this when I disabled core.protectNTFS in git and a program decided to write a file to such a filename. Git would list all the files in a directory and add each one, and it would list the broken file but later fail to stat it.
Well, technically you can use more vram by just using an integrated gpu to output picture. This way videocard dont need vram at all but you can left 512 megs just to make sure it will not bluescreen the entire thing.
