It's a great video with a lot of detail to the little gotchas. Editing was good as well. However, as some others queried, when it takes that long to gain access, I'd certainly replace everything that is within reach including gaskets, cleaning all surrounding areas, o-rings, etc. Its a small price to pay to not have to go back in there again. But all in all, you're a very talented individual with attention to detail and efficiency. You should own your own shop, if you don't already.

I just have to repair the harness going to the knock sensor, do you think I can get at the wiring without removing that coolant pipe above the knock sensors ?
They totally skipped the thermostat housing removal and coolant drain. Also failed to note it needs to be filled and bled prior to road test. No the best video from TRQ....
It doesn't make any difference if coolant is in the valley. Coolant makes good solvent to clean the valley. Simply blow it out with compressed air. You don't have to waste coolant when refilling the cooling system. Coolant always drains on a filthy frame and suspension parts etc. so unless you filter it through rags its unusable and its a waste of time to filter old coolant. Better to add fresh coolant anyway because chances are the coolant system needs to be serviced and has old coolant by the time the knock sensors fail. When you try to drain coolant you chance ruining the radiator freeing up a stuck drain cock. Better not to chance ruining the radiator.
Always cover the intake runners up with a towel or something as soon as they're exposed. You don't want to drop and bolt/debris down one that has a valve open. That will be a real fun day pulling the head to get it out.
While I can't do this job myself, With my mechanic garage having my car overnight (So they'd have it first thing in the morning to get started with diagnostics and possible repairs) and them having done diagnostics, is $1350 the current price to replace this knock sensor? Mine is a RAV4 '03 (Special Edition) as well.... or are they way overpricing me because they feel they can? It's one of those mechanic shops that are open until 9pm during the week. Starting today on a Wednesday, they said my car won't be ready until next week such as around Tuesday. I get that they need to get the new part(s) for it. But is $1350 far overcharging? They did my catalytic converter also a few months ago this past winter.

Good video should have showed how to get the water inlet off as the bolts were hard to get to and mine was stuck and hard to get off.
Bro this is a compleation of a master peice your the best
This is the same process on the Tacoma 2nd Gen if I’m not mistaken (they used the same 4.0 V-6),
Very easy peasy knock sensor mate good job
Oh, it'll be easy they said....

Would this videos work for my 06 Tacoma?
Thanks for the Video great job exceptI didn’t remove the Torx bolts or fuel injectors from the lower intake !!!!
About how many hours of labor for this job

Nice work. Others have drained coolant first. Did you not do this? If not how did you avoid coolant spillage and mess in the engine valley?

How long did it take you. For me, whatever you did x3.
That's wild that Toyota would design it that way.
How different is this job on the V8 compared to V6?

The wire harness is hard to reach too in the rear under the water pipe.
Looks like you need 1/4 swivel sockets for those intake bolts
Hay 2 sensores hay ,como se llama el otro sensor para remplazar los 2 ya que este abierta ?

Did you change the Wire Harness on the knock sensor, I didn’t see how you did that !!! mice 🐁 chew them off !!!!
Good job! Did you replace gaskets and o-rings or were the originals ok yet??
How many hours does it take to do this?
Thanks bro,amazing video !!!
thanks for the video, great job.
Can you please add the specialty torque bit you used for those 4 bolts on the lower intake?
T40
You only have to remove the 12mm bolts not the torx. The lower plenum will come out with just the 12’s loosened
@@93z32 I just realized this too.
Anyone know if this is the same or similar job for a 2nd gen tacoma?
Superb!!!!
All that work !! just to replace an f" sensor ? ! Toyota engineers shame on you ! ,,,, I'd rather pay the mechanic to do it ! .
As cheap as the parts are, i don't understand why you wouldn't do both knock sensors while in there.
You live by the ocean?? Alot of rust and also aluminum deterioration.
i will need to take pictures,😂otherwise i don't think i will remember in the end where things are supposed to go.
Toyotas are just as bad as Jeeps. 😂
Im going to replace everything including the harness. Just have to get into the mood of dealing with it but i guess its time 🫡
