Super helpful-thank you!
I'm happy to hear that ❤
I’ve used the black gel trick in the past to shade colours of buttercream, but you read my mind with this video post. I’m currently working on the “Give Away” Cookies for my son and DIL’s Wedding. The second design is a large plaque with a Wedding Cake on a gold stand. I want the background Colour to be a muted, eucalyptus green because that is her primary décor colour. I’ve probably got 6 different shades of green gel, but this colour definitely requires custom mixing. Thanks for this great info. Very helpful and timely. Cheers.
That's awesome, so glad it was great timing that you saw this. The ivory will trick will be perfect for that! And how sweet of you to make the cookies for them 🥰 congratulations to your son and DIL ❤️
I am so happy I found you. This is very relaxing and of course I’ll be playing with these colors and making my cookies!
Yay! Thank you so much 🥰
Great tips. Thank you!
You're welcome ❤️

Your videos have helped me start my cookie decorating journey...from icing recipe to consistencies, and now color-tweaking. I prefer a muted palette, but had no idea how to achieve that from the bright Chefmaster gels I use. Thank you for your time and sharing your expertise! Grateful!
That makes me so happy! That's exaclty why I make these videos , I want to show that anyone can decorate cookies and make it look less intimidating. Thank you for your comment and glad you find the video helpful ❤❤
Me too!!!!
❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this! I once had to make a certain shade of blue for some cookies…..it took a minute but I was able to make it🤦🏾♀️. But after watching your video, I now know an easier au to do this. The funny part is, is that the blue you created with the ivory was the shade I made……keep living and never stop learning!❤️!
Yes I agree with you!! There's alwyas new things to learn and that's what keeps it fun and interesting 🥰 thanks ❤
So nice, thanks!!
Thank you! 😄
This video is so amazing I am so glad I watched it. My wallet may not be because now there’s so many colors that I wanna get that I don’t already have, lol! But that’s OK! I’m new to this and I’m so excited and I can’t wait to get the order I just placed, lol! Thank you!
Thank you!! And don't worry, just get the basic colours, red, green, blue, yellow, black, purple and ivory and you'll have a range of colours that you can mix. Then as you need just slowly add to your collection! And have fun and try different combos out!
Awesomeness...thank you so much appreciate it 😊

Definitely be picking up some ivory, & I have black on hand. 🏡 🍪 🏡
Yay! I always make sure I have some ivory on hand now too!!
Awesome video! Thank you sharing this! 🙏🏼🎉
Thank you!!
Wow! Thanks for this video 💃. Can I use the same idea for buttercream?
I believe it would work the same!! Thanks ❤️
this is awesome, thank you! Can I ask a question about keeping your colours? I was told to place my finished cookies in the oven at 150F for 20-30 min to completely dry out the icing. But they came out faded, with almost a cloudy whitish film. Any idea how I can avoid this in the future….I almost cried after all the hours spent detailing and the to have beautiful soft pastel icing colours turn so totally unappealing 😢. Thanks for any help you can share with me.
In color theory for artists this is exactly how paint is mixed by starting with a base line color and adding another color to create a new color and then introduce another color to the previous new color and so on, repeating the process all mixed from the initial base line color you initially started with. Doing this allows for cohesiveness of all your colors on your pallette. This is why you see paintings that have colors that usually wouldn't look good come together harmoniously. This process is important to know because you can't achieve this effect by trying to buy these shades of colors individually due to different undertones that manufacturers incorporate when mixing colors.
Regardless if you're a cookie artist, a cake artist or a painter, color theory is so important to know and is relative in all forms of artistry.
However, I know nothing about cookie artistry and am here to learn how to make all these beautiful iced sugar cookies that I'm constantly seeing on Instagram and at bakeries. Hopefully with the help and knowledge from Little Cookie Co and lots of practice I can one day too, make the stunningly beautiful cookies I see on this channel.
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and hard work. It is very appreciated. Lots of love to you and your's ❤😊.
Thank you so much! I hope you get a chance to try your hand at decorating cookies and so interesting how colour theory works across all forms of art 🥰
What's the best store-bought white or buttercream frosting to use at home? To mix and make the different colors? Wanting to make my baby's cake for his 1st bday. TY!!
This was very useful information !! Thank you !! What brand is the ivory you used? Chefmaster?
Thank you!! The ivory was Americolor only because I didn't have any Chefmaster in ivory on hand!
Wow I never thought you could get this range of colors with the ivory and black. Great info. Do you have any tips for getting a true red and true black? Seems like I have to use way to much coloring and it still has a pinkish and grayish color. Thanks for any info. PS I’ve always used Wilton food coloring paste.
Thank you!! And yes I do have a video on how I get my red and black icing the perfect shades, you can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/NXQyjwMDFfU/v-deo.html
