Good video man. I only recommend putting the Osmo as the main video when showing what it looks like. You have the Gopro as the large main video and the OP3 and the small square video. I wouldve rather actually seen the OP3 as the big video to see what it looks like instead of seeing you and the gopro looking at you as the large video. We here to see the OP3. just my two cents but thank you for that. I'll definitelly look into incorporating that. thanks man.
I think this is a great concept because it allows you a bit more weight in the hand for slower more controlled movements when recording b-roll. Sometimes the OP3 alone can feel so light that movements become abrupt. I also think it will only spark more ideas for quick clamps and adaptions in the future.
Yes, I usually use a smallrig half cage on my camera to mount it. The cage has a cold shoe but it’s a little off centered (probably different for each camera and cage type). I prefer doing it that way than mounting it on my hot shoe.
There are many ways to mount op3 on main camera, I prefer they're closed ro each other to get similar point of view. on top is best with a bit tilting down to match the frame. well done bro... nice setup!
Yeah, I wish there was a way to get it even closer to the lens. I saw Ulanzi just came out with a bracket and mount which might make it an even better setup than the ones I suggested.
@@Weedeogram make a video on it!!! I’m curious on how it is. I like how much slimmer it is than the DJI bracket and doesn’t have GoPro fingers sticking out all the time

Interesting video. I just returned from Japan a couple of days ago where I took my Sony A1 + 20-70mm f2.8 GM (II) & 20mm f1.8 G & Osmo Pocket 3 (0S3). I used the 0S3 for a couple of day & found for ease of use the 0S3 was much easier that taking out my full-frame (FF) camera for many reasons. People appeared quite comfortable with being filmed with the 0S3. Lets just say I have never filmed that much and with so many people not seeming to care (New York Style) or some were intrigued I might even say a bit thrilled with such a small filming unit. People culd not believe the footage that comes out the 0S3. ...it is very nice! I was unsure if to bring my FF camera on this trip, now i can see from time to time leaving my FF camera at home & just taking the 0S3. Pretty neat & welcome discovery.
That’s exactly what happened to me when I went to Japan earlier this year with my camera buddies, Potato Jet and Nuclear64. We all brought a bunch of camera gear, but we all ended up mostly using the Pocket 3 for our footage. No one really cared when I was filming with the OS3. But when I had my A7SIII out, especially with a mic and MantisPod attached people seemed uncomfortable (understandably so). It was also really nice to go out with just the OS3 sometimes and not have back pain lol. I’ll always travel with a FF, but now I know I don’t need to bring as many lenses for it next time (I brought 5 with me 😅)
Dog in shopping cart pic, so cute :) Nice ideas, I use similar and another benefit is once you get used to what the camera frame is in relation to the pocket screen view, I find I can get great hip shooting style shots without having to use the cameras view finder with a bit of practice after changing lens'.
The dog isn’t spoiled at all lol. Oh I need a lot more practice with hip shooting. I can get my subject in the frame, but what part of the frame is a different story lol. I’ll have to check out your channel
I accidentally figured it out when I was trying to hold it like in flashlight mode. I should have said it in the video, but the Pocket has to be slightly tilted up to work properly otherwise with gimbal kind of acts weird.
Thanks for the video, Ralph. I am wondering, what is the plate extension you are using to film both the main cam+ pocket 3? Also, POV shots with the pocket 3: is it possible to hold the camera on your mouth or too heavy? Thanks mate.
I mounted an action camera on an extension bar and attached that to the tripod mount on the bottom of my camera. This extension bar to be exact… amzn.to/3vU2r0b
Hello dear I have analyzed your youtube channel, although your content is great,But subscribers and views are not improving enough, because your video's seoscore is very minimal, SEO is an organic process of bringing videos to the top of search list through Researchable title, tag and description optimization. In this process UA-cam channel and videos are promoted in a completely organic method. Thank you for sharing! What gimbal mode are you using to capture POVs?
I use follow mode most of the time. I tried using FPV, but I personally liked having the horizon level.
hi!thx for the hints :)
i have a question: does the Osmo Pocket 3 keep the horizon when you rotate the camera to take portrait photos? thx a lot
is there a way to have a setup where the pocket 3 is not mounted on the cold shoe?
You can put your camera into cage, and use cold shoe adapter from smallrig if you are concerned about mounting it on your camera hot shoe

How do you get the camera pointing straight out like that? I thought it only did that in like hyperlapse. Interesting idea.

Can i have something like this mounted on my camera as well as a flash, is there a way ? :) Thank you for the tips !
I really want to try this but I don’t think the focal length is long enough for Volleyball highlights for social media despite being court-side.
This is genius! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks 🙏🏼. I did take the idea from my friend, but we don’t have to tell him that 🤣
@@ROAMitRALPH LOL! 👍🏻
what if you want to shoot vertical? maybe it’s better a cam with horizon lock or something.
Funny you say that because I’m actually looking at the GoPro with the Max Mod. That might be another great solution.
@@ROAMitRALPH in my research for this hotshoe POV combo, i’ve discovered that if you have the gopro 11 or 12, doesn’t need the max mod :)

Does tracking still work in that position?
Love the concept, but you are eliminating an entire axis on the gimbal by mounting horizontally.
How did you mount the angle we were watching from?
I mounted an action camera on an extension bar and attached that to the tripod mount on the bottom of my camera. This extension bar to be exact…

Which a7r is this?
This is the A7RIII. An older model, but I still love using it.
Clever
Thanks! 🍻
All setup are ok until somebody will grab the A7R from the Osmo Pocket Handle :)
Time to figure out how to mount an airtag on my camera next 🤣
TFS!
No problem. Thanks for watching!
