If you want to follow along in order. The two part Router 101 was previously uploaded a long time ago as it was a popular episode. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/7EawN_sE8HQ/v-deo.html
Outdated? Mechanical clocks were just as out of date in the 90s as they are today. But they are beautiful, functional, timekeepers, just as they were 200 years ago.
I too loved watching these. Yes, the projects are outdated but I’m sure these would still look good in a house today. I’m sure they are starting to have some worth to them too
On This Old House Bob Vila, Steve Thomas, and occasionally the project contractor (I'm looking at you Abel Lopez) will make it out the the New Yankee Workshop to see what Norm was building for the show project instead.
Have you looked for a "produce on demand" thing? Heck, I've no means or skill to build a clock but I'd buy those plans for the glass panel even if it was a modern recreation.
Nice..but I would have made the top out of a lift up lid far maybe a hidden pistol or money, and the bottom part into a pull out drawer but no handle to look like it's not a drawer, and keep batteries or other things in it
Just like the Tall Case Oak Clock, the wood part of the project you can do yourself, but the chimes and other clock guts are to be done by an expert because it’s easy to break parts of the clock guts!

You think you've seen everything, then Norm comes up with something completely unexpected. Unbelievable craftmanship.
What a nice shop clock. Love the walnut. Thanks Norm!
Great episode, thanks for sharing it with us.
Really nice tone to the clock
This is my favorite episode for walnut built projects like this, due to the official NYW logo on that glass panel door!
I've been waiting to see this one. Thank you!
Loved watching these in the 90's, the projects are so outdated now, but still interesting.

love the chime going off in the background @ 8:00
and @ 13:48 xD
I so love these videos. I hope Mr. Abrams is doing well. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
Norm is the man. I wish some of the TOH crew had made a guest appearance on his show.

I wish they still made that glass panel
Us too!
I think someone with a Cricut could probably come up with a reasonable facsimile.

Time to get to work.

where can you buy the wind up movement and hands for this clock?
The clock movement is from Klockit:
www.klockit.com
14:57 was Norm supposed to say walnut instead of mahogany?
The router episode will posted last year so the one that followed it will be up on Friday.
It was already uploaded so you can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/7EawN_sE8HQ/v-deo.html
@@newyankeeworkshop The highboy Norm built in season 17 looked challenging for any woodworker.

I'm sorry, that's a lovely clock - but the masking tape is cracking me up. My dad would have used black electrical tape.
If he had used black tape of any kind, there wouldn't have been any contrast in his image. It would have just looked like his shadow on the glass.
@@VincentMcmanus.I am very aware of that. My dad would still have used black electrical tape. 😂
