    Best description I’ve ever heard.. nicely put.. that was a huge one for me learning how the tones work with the different grey wash mixes. It’s good practice to just use straight black to try and achieve transitions from light to dark too! Helps with control

    Could I ask what sort of pressure you're using for shading to build up with a mag?haw hard you press the needle in/how much of the needle actually goes in?just found your channel and I'm hooked already, great videos great content!

    Why do you dry wipe instead of the traditional method of green soap or distilled water method?

    I been practicing tattooing for a few weeks now on fake skin and myself I was wondering how to do lighter tones of shading and bruh your videos are the shit appreciate you my guy.       Try going in small circles, use a smaller mag like a 7 or a 9. Get a machine with a longer stroke (4 millimeter at least) slow your voltage and focus on depth

    what voltage is the best for shadows overall?

      There is no set voltage that is best for any particular type of work. Every artist works differently so you have to find what works for you. Try playing around the 6.5 to 8.5 area and see what suits you. With time you’ll find what you like best.

    Hello, I have a question, if you do black and gray why do you use 100 percent black. For example, the fur structure of a Tieger 75 or 100. I'm sometimes unsure. I think with black and gray almost no 100 percent is used, right? Best regards

      Definitely use 100% for the darkest points of a tattoo, i can also achieve dark grey tones with 100% just depends on how much i saturate the area

    I noticed that you're pulling it backwards. What would happen if you're pushing it forward instead? I mean. Does it make any difference in terms of results or just to avoid from damaging the skin?

      No difference, i find it easier not to go too deep that way. But when doing pendulum you swing back and forth

    I just got out of prison and we used watered down black ink for our grey wash(soot) but now that I'm out I can't wait to buy actual grey ink,I tried making it mixing whit and black,but was disappointed ,caught myself dipping into my water cup to water it down

    Is putting all this ink and water etc in the skin really safe for u? Surely it causes some infections no?

      It can happen, this is why Artists need to have blood borne pathogen protection training. Most of the time infections come when clients expose their tattoo to unsanitary environments after leaving the shop.

      Your voltage may be too low, the needles you are using may be low quality. You may have not shaved the area properly

      Yes all stroke machines are great for this technique. All just depends on personal preferences

      @@andyhowden7655 well the higher the stroke the lower you would want your voltage to be. If you’re beginning its easier to shade on a lower stroke machine

    If you're trying to get full saturation with 75%, why not just pack it? Seems like over working

      I use this technique on actual skin. I think using the backward motion is less traumatic so you can make more passes. Sometimes I take my voltage to 5.5 -6. To each their own I guess

      No your right I have a 4mm fk iron flux use 5.5-6 max for almost anything I do even color packing at min of 2-3 pass max /my mentor always told me to care for my client and never overwork tattooing to cause trama
