Another very interesting video. I use my skins to make jewellery (affixing them to cabochons) mostly and have made some bookmarks using metal bookmarks with a skinned cabochon attached. Most look pretty good. I'm going to try this method too though. A tip for those who don't have a laminating machine you can buy self laminating sheets that don't need to go through a machine. I use them and they work fine. Thanks for more inspiration David.
I watched this video and loved your idea for bookmarks out of the dried paint skins. We have a machine like yours and I am definitely going to utilize this idea. Thanks a bunch, great idea. Have a great evening.
I was surprised out how inexpensive they were on Amazon I thought we bought our for $60 + back in the day but the Amazon basics version I put in the description was only like $22 at the time I posted this video.
VERY CREATTIVE, AS ALWAYS, DAVID, I REALLY LIKE TO RECICLE, I EVEN PAINT GLASS BOTTLES, FILL THEM WITH COKIES AND GAVE THEM AS A PRESENT. THE SECOND BOOKMARKER LOOKS LIKE A LIZARD'S HEAD, DON'T YOU THINK? I REALLY LIKE IT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, DAVID. MY BEST WISHES, GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS FROM 🇲🇩.
I've made a few bookmarks before, and never thought to do anything other than rectangle ones. Looks like I might need to make a few more now and try random shapes! Thanks for another great idea!!!!
I love how you show the mistakes it helps us problem solve… So many creators don’t do that because they want to have this image of everything they do is perfect… But I appreciate the idea and the uniqueness… I just wish she didn’t cut up the green one that looked like a tree I actually think you could’ve done something different with that… Not crazy about your scissors either get a better pair
I didn't like the designs on the outside of the green. Only that center section kept something that I liked. Maybe one day on the scissors. Low on my wish list. So many fun painting things I want. Thanks for watching Jean.
You can buy self-laminating sheets. If you can't afford that, or want to do something right away, you can make small bookmarks using clear packing tape. The width of the skin you are using has to be smaller than the width of the tape, but they can be as long as you want. It can be a little tricky, so it helps if you have someone else to help hold down the bottom piece of tape and keep it flat while you put the top piece of tape on. I made a few for a friend this way.
Very cool!! At first I thought you were going to just use them "as is" and I was like "Umm, in the Texas heat that would melt the paint into the pages of the book!" 🤣🤣 But, ya, great idea to laminate them! Thanks for sharing!!
Another great idea from the master 👍🥰 Would you wait for the laminate sheet to cool down before you put it through again so that it isn't too soft and less liable to crinkle? I've recently bought some blank cabochon jewellery and am looking forward to making these once they arrive. Now I can make some bookmarks while I wait for the post.😄 Thanks for your ideas.❤️❤️
I pour on the waxy paper used in boxes of cereal if I want skins. I simply run some warm/hot water in the bag to fill it, and dump it out. The glue used to fuse it together is softened so you can simply pull it apart to lay it flat. Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Sir, I know this isn't the topic, though I had seen you on Lisa's channel....do you also have a video on consistency, because I can't figure it out yet and I just got the first quart of Behr in Israel ever and it's like porridge...it make a slight mound but runs goupy and very thin.
I assume you are talking abou the Blooms technique? The deep base gets mixed with a varnish (Jo Sonyas or Triple Thick or Polycrylic). There are a million ways to mix but I see most people doing 3 parts Behr and 2 parts varnish. That should loosen it up a bit then it can mix with paint/pigments/etc. I don't have a video specifically for the traditional Sheleeart blooms technique yet.
@@LeftBrainedArtist it's breakfast Cookie's cardboard cut up! I eat them then save the box it comes in. After I paint it, then I cut it out, put a hole on top and put a metal pretty colored eyelet thing in it plus a little tassel. Hey dear, did you get my link from my main YT site I sent you? Blow dryer verses turkey baster? The baster is better than straws when you need a straw. Moisture doesn't drip all over the paint! Haha, cheap too. 🙋♥️✝️🇺🇲
If I could give more than one thumbs-up I would! Great idea!
Yay, thank you LaRene.
I love the blue hurricane one! So cool!
THanks Amanda. That is the one I claimed for my hardbound books.
Brilliant! Thanks David! xx
My pleasure Fran.
Such a creatively unique option to use the remaining paint. Thank you for such a great idea!
You are so welcome Helena.
A wonderful, creative idea. Great way to recycle.
Exactly how I feel about it. Too bad I rarely buy books now days. The kindle is just so convenient.
Wow so beautiful friend 💐💐💐💐
Thank you so much
Great idea! Turned out so beautiful!!
Thanks so much! 😊
I love the ones that are unique shapes.
Me too. For a left brained guy I sure like colors and non-rectangular shapes a lot.
I'd get much more use out of bookmarks than anything else. Good idea!
Totally!
Great idea David. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching Lydia.
Fabulous idea 💡
Thank you Linda! 😊
So true! 😂 lately my paintings haven’t been as nice as the leftover paint that ends up running off! I’ve saved a lot of leftover pieces
Right?! I hope it happens less and less for you but I find the leavings still have potentially to get used for some cool stuff.
Ohh thank you for sharing. You just give me an idea 💡 for laminating. You're always a great teacher. 👍 love your work. 💞
You are so welcome Maky. Glad to help.
I didn’t know you could run it through the laminator more than once. Yay! Thank you!
NP. I haven't ever had any problem doing it more than once with acrylic skins.
Yes! I was looking for THIS 😃
I wish you showed the back side of the bookmarks.
They aren't nearly as pretty. I should probably use backing paper when I make them.
Very cool 😎 great idea
Thanks Josie.
Oh awesome!! Thank you for sending this. Definitely going to try this.
Please do! Let me know if you find some other ways to use the skins.
OMG Thanks for doing this video. I’m also interested in jewelry and blobs skins but nothing out there that I’ve found. More , please 🥰
Another jewelry video is coming soon. So much to test first still Laurie.

#truth I had a bit in the video about doing them yourself with an iron but it really needs it's own video so I edited it out.
I love this idea of affixing them to cabochons. I might have to try that.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
You bet! Just sent you an email about getting together and discussing UA-cam.
These are so cool! What a great idea.
Thanks Stephanie. I love making unique gifts like this.
Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing. My kids will love making these 👏
Have fun!

This was extremely informative. Thank you! They are beautiful

Love this idea!! I used to love to laminate when I worked at the high school. It was my job. & it was my “zen”. Now I need to buy a laminator!!

Thanks. These are fun to make for sure.
well that's a great idea. I've only made magnets so far and have the cabochons to make pendants. Bookmarks are so unique. I don't have a laminator. 😮

You can just buy the sheets and use a clothes iron. There are some great UA-cam videos about that.
Oh I didn't even think about either of those options. Thanks Daisy.
Love this idea!
Thank you Marlynda! 😊
One more item on my wish list! Love this!
You should! I love making bookmarks.
They are gorgeous. I read a lot and I love an interesting bookmark. Great idea. Thank you David.☮️💖🎶
Glad you enjoyed it Marcey. Me too on the reading although I've been doing a lot of Kindle reading lately.
I pour my leftover on water color paper, let dry, then cut out the bookmarks with my CRicut. Then Coat with resin.
Ooh, I might have to have my wife cut me some with her cricut. I forgot it has a blade attachement. Thanks Ami.
That’s so cool 😎👍🏼
Thanks Randi. Using these on my books already.
Awesome video and idea! I also like to use any spare Pour Skins on small Mix Media Journal Covers . Cheers from South Texas.

Glad you think so Crystal. I love different and this is definitely that.
@@LeftBrainedArtist and I would imagine that the lamination machine and supplies would not be terribly expensive.
@@crystalmason9108 Nope. $25 on Amazon in the states for a laminating machine and $5-$7 for 100+ count of laminating papers.

The thing ones I don't. The 5mm you do want to let them sit a second or they warp.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Ah, ok thankyou for that. I will keep it in mind ☺️

Love these! This is such a neat idea. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thanks Steph.
I love these! that one makes me think of a peacock feather! what do you pour on so they come off so easily to be used as book marks?
Either a silicone matt or my plastic pouring containers. Both come off really easily.

An outdoor resin with good UV blockers would be my recommendation.
