I'm not sure how far I"m going to take this. I just turned 71 yesterday and it's a hoot so far. I can see how easy it would be to create hundreds of paintings in a relatively short time. I'm already looking at converting a 3 season room into a all year room so I can paint all the time. I hope to create a few very nice pieces that I can hang up in my house and maybe stop then. Watching your videos and lessons learned have helped me avoid some beginner's mistakes. Still working on paint consistencies!@@LeftBrainedArtist
You give the best tutorials, simple and to the point!! My brain doesn’t do fast anymore. And you don’t fill up time with unnecessary information. We already know the ones to get very technical. And that’s ok if that’s what someone wants. I’m a fan of ‘keep it simple stupid’🤗🤗🤗🤗
I'm just Going to give you a thank you before I even watch this video. Just because I know how useful your videos always are! Keep up the amazing work!
Very interesting with your second pour. It almost has a faux bloom effect. You called it ‘lightning lacing’. This is a good lesson in how density effects what comes out.
I thought I was finished pouring and cleaned up for the day. Then I watched this while I ate lunch and now I have to try the one with the negative space. Thanks for another great idea!
@@LeftBrainedArtist I don't love it but I'll let it exist. I think it would've ended better if I had realized using a funnel with an angled end would just let the paint immediately pour out when I put it on the canvas. 🤪
I tried the funnel pour with thin paint with silicone oil and it worked out really well creating beautiful cells. Your tutorials are easy to follow and therefore more success. Your calculator is great and makes short work and time.
Hi David , loved paintings #3 & #4. I'm going to try the traveling funnel in the near future!. Thanks for this video, as always, excellent information and inspiration to pour.

Yay!! 50K!! I'll be with ya when you hit 100K. I have a wall with beautiful paintings, due in no small part to your excellent videos!! Been pouring about a year. So many thanks!! This video has introduced me to negative space; I love the simplicity of the white base and 'trail' of colors. Very elegant looking!
Wow! The differences are really interesting. I like something about all of them but agree that the third one is best. I'm not a huge fan of too much negative space but found the last one very pleasing to the eye too. Thanks so much again.
AS ALWAYS, VERY INTERESTING EXPERIMENTS AND NICE EXPLANATIONS, THE BEST WAY TO LEARN IS BY UNDERSTANDING. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH, DAVID. MY BEST WISHES, GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS FROM 🇲🇩.
Thank you for this lesson. Love the last painting! If I’m understanding it correctly, the colors poured into the funnel on the last one form cells because they “pop up” from the white paint which is denser. Thinner paint makes more defined cells? Wish I could have seen you pour the colors into the funnel but you probably just poured them in randomly on top of each other.
I did pour them randomly on top of one another yes. And correct about the cells. They were formed as the less dense pain out of the funnel came up through the more dense white.
You are definitely welcome Noemi. Thanks for continuing to watch my videos. I am happy to make a video especially for you if you have some burning questions you want to get answered.
Love watching you experiment & explain how it all works. I was so happy when you used the cake spinner. That canvas turned out beautiful! It’s my favorite. Although, I do like the one with “yellow lightening” a lot also. One of my favorite ways to use the funnel is to flood the canvas & then let the funnel pour from an inch or so above in different patterns, then tilt. I saw BRTurner do it on his UA-cam. It’s fun & very different.
Congrats on 50k David! I haven't done any pouring for months, but I had already decided that when I get back to it I will be trying some funnel pours. This video is perfect timing and I love all of the results, but number three is absolutely stunning!
I just barely bought the cake spinner since my homemade one was so loud and not very "spinny" if that is a word. So nice. Going ot have to retrofit it to handle bigger paintings.
Not really This color palette with silicone didn't work. I have some gorgeous ones that I've done with silicone a la Pouring Your Heart Out that I love.

You are welcome. Being a left brained guy getting colors that look good together can be a real struggle so having a little guide book to help give me ideas like Coolers.co is awesome.
I pretty much always varnish my paitings that I am selling or giving away. Silicone is not a varnish. You generally hvae to clean all the silicone off of the painting before applying a varnish/resin.
Hi David, love your teacher heart, you have saved me mucho mula! Have you got any resources that carries Australian Floetrol, everyone that I have checked is sold out.
Honestly, I have never bought Aussie Floetrol. I just don't see the draw when I believe there are ways to get just a good of cells with local ingredients. I've had quite a bit of success with craftsmart white glue and American Floetrol but I don't have the "this works just as well" recipe yet.
Because when you tilt the bottom of the corners especially get left without paint. This way I know they are painting up front and don't have to go back and repaint later.
Brilliant description again. Thankyou David for all your insight and information. You didn't use a base puddle? Is there a specific reason for this. Would you lose less paint definition if the base went over the sides instead of the colours? Congrats too on your subscriber milestone 🎨👍♥️🤓

I have a question about the paint tilted off. Is it possible to strategically stack your colors in such a way that the colors you want to keep are less likely to be tilted off? For example, in a funnel pour the color at the bottom will most likely tilt off, but in a tree ring pour , the color on top will most likely be tilted off, so would it make sense to utilize the idea of a "waste" color? Not meaning waste in the sense of ugly, but maybe save the "special" colors or theme colors for the part less likely to go over the side? It may not even be worth thinking about, but here I am, thinking about it anyway...🤔
You have that exactly right. The last colors out of the cup/funnel will be the ones in the middle of canvas and less likely to tilt off. I use more base paint in either my base coat or on the bottom or top of my cup (depending on how I am pouring it out) to help compensate for this.
Ok so I'm a bit confused now... I've watched LoOoTtTsSs of pouring videos from many different artists and each of them do each of same basic techniques a lil differently but always with the basic "rules" (and using that word "rules" very loosely!) of each technique being the same from person to person... The results r quite different between dry canvas and puddle... Both r beautiful tho!

hi, a question, what happens if one have to much silicon oil in a color?
Too much silicone makes caterpillar cells or cells that just keep growing and meshing in to each other.
What is the best way to make sure the sides are covered?
If I am worred about them I paint them first. Generally I used the tilted off paint at the end to make sure all the sides get covered.
Can you use penetrol instead of silicone for cells and lacing?
No. It doesn't work the same. It helps paint that gives lacing to give even more lacing but won't make it by itself like silicone will. I have a video from last week about that here - ua-cam.com/video/O4K2SH0WbjI/v-deo.html

Not heavy body paint. Just paint that hasn't been diluted with water or medium so it is still a thicker consistency.
