It reminds of those gunfighters in Western movies coming in from a rough ride and spending a whole dollar! (a day's wage for a worker but not for a gunfighter) getting a close shave by a professional barber.

seems steep price. Also, as far as i'm aware, it's always one hot towel, with beard oil applied to soften the hairs and a cold towel post shave to close the pores. Not sure about the 3 hot towels, seems like a gimmick to fill the time a cost of a shave, a traditional Turkish barber could do for a fraction of the price.
I guess you're paying to have a shave in the oldest barber shop I suppose.
It depends on the hair and the barber some use 2 hot towels some 1 but all the barber supplies are expensive
