My mother got me into both of these series and they really shaped a demand for knowledge via text that grew and grew. I fell out of love with fiction after becoming an adult except for the rare one-off, but I still read a book a week on average to this day at 30. Big love from a fan.
As a book reader its frustrating but also valid to explain to people what is going on in Dune. Alot is internal monologe but i think its the best adaption we will get of Dune.

I saw Dune 2 twice, once in a regular theater and once at the only public Cinity theater in the United States. Definitely see it in the biggest, most extravagant format you can.

Paul went south because the Harkonnens glassed Sietch Tabr and everyone was forced to retreat and join the war council. Paul initially still refused but came to the realization his foresight was limited when he was unable to predict the artillery attack and spoke with Jamis through his visions. Plus literally everyone was pressuring him to go South, it was do or die essentially. They actually spent quite a while addressing it, that must have been like a 10 minute piss lmao.
They literally told Paul he couldn't use his whole powers without the worm juice and he wouldn't succeed without his whole powers. Yall gotta not smoke before you watch movies. :-P
