    Richard, SC Upstate is the nicest part of SC. Greetings from the Pee Dee neck of the woods. Just found your channel and I'm about 4 mo into my new post retirement part time career wrenching on 2 strokes at a nearby saw shop. Gary

    Nice build, she sounds real nice. As she breaks in, that will be one mean machine.
    Lighter rotational mass should make her one zippy saw.

    The piston pin hole can be drilled on a more sideways location, and insert a new pin in it. It's a very easy mod to do, so long as you still have some meat on the exhaust port side that you wanna grind off.

    I’m boy that wet stuff sure gunks things up and plugs the Oiler holes it seems. I’m always having to cut wet pine and the bar get hizzzot!!!! I don’t know what those run like stock but I’m sure you will he able to unleash what’s left knowing you have some good numbers to work with from the piston swap still.

    Nice! When you tear it down next send me your chain! That chain sucks dude! 😅 I'm thinking on getting a Wiseco for my 064 next year. And a little port massage. Winter is coming, gotta start working on the race sleds. Be safe my friend.

      Lol! That's what you get with an out of the box chain. I'll hand file the next time, maybe even square.....

    Where is there a lot of play between the connecting rod and wrist pin journals on the piston with the Wiseco?
    I purchased one for a ms 460 Andy head at least a 1/8 “ Play on each side of the connecting rod which would allow the Wrist pin bearing to float around too much.
    It will need shims on each side for me to feel comfortable using it.
    Great content by the way!!

    Lookin good! Did the 661 get taken down because of bearings? I’ve seen 2 now have bad bearings with excessive play.

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't get this as a complete saw. It was a catastrophic failure, but had no way of knowing how it failed. The bearings were a little crunchy so I just did a full rebuild.

      @@richardflagg3084 Nice those are always fun projects. Bucket O parts. That piston sure looks nice. I was a little disappointed to not hear a new catch phrase this time. Haha only kidding take it easy!

      I just got a good price on one with bad bearings and seals on both sides.
      Jug looks good. Piston is a -little- rough I assume because of the play. Will make a fun project.
      Mr Flagg (and others) any "non oem" bearing size/numbers for these saws? Or am I going to be dealer locked?

  • @rottiejakeluke

    Sorry to ask this question, but I just like to learn. If you just used the standard piston instead of to this piston was the gain worth this additional cost of the piston worth the gain/ thank you.

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  Рік тому +1

      I bought it when Dave had them on sale. It was only about a $20 increase over the OEM. I believe the Wiseco is only beneficial if you're porting the cylinder. The skirts are a good bit wider and the single ring located above the intake port allows unlimited modification.

    Oddball question, but do you know if a husky 390xp ever came with an unlimited coil? I'm playing with fire because my 390 is a beast already, but the hot rodder in me sees that blue coil and wonders "what if." Was thinking about removing the base gasket which would be a great time to clean it all up and throw a couple other upgrades at it. Great video as always.

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  2 роки тому +2

      The Black coil is the unlimited one. Muffler mod and a mild timing advance will give you a little better performance. You'll probably have to remove the limiters on the carb to tune it. It's gonna need a touch more fuel on the high side after the mods.

    • @cajun3197
      @cajun3197 2 роки тому +1

      Basically any black coil off a 300 series. Even a cheapo 350 husky will fit it and you can just swap the wire.

    What shitty gasoline compared to Europe
    The same machines here in Europe with 100 octane gasoline give much more performance
