i'm only partway through at the moment but this is actually incredible also i appreciate that you're not going to commit... yknow. i don't know you personally of course, but i still care about you and wish only the best for you!
I got recommended this randomly going through some songs, and I am NOT dissapointed at all by what I found here! Deadman rush specially hits just the right kind of mood I'm in today, really nice!
I've noticed my youtube algorithm being adamant to push newly published videos. And the majority of these videos are game playthroughs. I personally don't care for them and I can see the time it takes to actually create such a "piece" of medium. However, I am so glad to see my algo pushing new videos of some genuine art. I can confidently say that this probably took much longer than any game playthrough and had a lot more love & passion invested into it. I will definitely being sitting down and giving a solid listen
This album particularly moved me in some unexpected ways, and I feel like my writing skills are beginning to rust, so I want to offer my thoughts. :) 1. Hagel - 10/10 An incredibly strong start to the album, and easily my second favorite, though it took most of the runtime to dethrone. A quick Google told me the name of the song translates to "hail," and I can in fact rather clearly envision this song representing a storm of icy projectiles. If the structure of the album isn't meant to convey an overarching message, as I have a hunch that it does, then I would honestly suggest not having Hagel be the first song in the album, as it ends up setting an expectation that the next two songs don't quite live up to, though that's not to say they aren't good. 2. Highway - 8/10 Much more spacey and atmospheric than the previous song. I really like the chiptune-esque lead instrument. I was very lost on the time signature for a while, as I couldn't tell if it was in 6/8 or 12/8 or just a fast 3/4, but my mom said it was in 2/4, so I don't really know what it is. That's not really a bad thing, though. 3. Another lonely streetlight - 7/10 The sleigh bells instantly make it feel Christmas-y, but even without them, it sounds like the theme song of a game's snowy area. The chops of the lead instrument that start about halfway through single-handedly elevated my rating of the song up from a 6/10. An interesting addition to the album. 4. Exhausted - 6/10 Lives up to its name, it really sounds like a last stand where the protagonist gets a second wind. There are even bells tolling in the background that indicate finality. It carries that atmospheric vibe from the previous 2 songs to a certain extent, but it also feels more aggressive, so it's not very same-y. 5. Deadman rush - 7/10 I love this guitar. I might be completely imagining things, but I feel like the Megalovania soundfont got thrown in there somewhere. I like how besides the guitar and drums, everything is very slow and methodical, almost like episodic mania. 6. End with explosion - 5/10 I really like the lack of exposition in this one, with the drums' sudden fade-in. I feel the crystalline sort of vibe is slightly misplaced in this song, maybe just because of the name, but possibly also because 50% of the songs so far have had a similar instrument. My biggest issue with this one is that while it ended as abruptly as it started, it didn't end nearly as explosively as the title suggested; maybe the fuse was wet? 7. Burning disaster - 7/10 I do like the melody and the main instruments here, but it's a bit weaker than the other songs in this album, and honestly, it doesn't evoke much of an image of fire. Maybe I'm too critical of your naming conventions, and the burning is meant metaphorically, but I always assume that names have a reason. 8. War for war - 9/10 You mentioned in the description that the name of this song is slightly inaccurate. My proposition is "War for war's sake." Regardless, this song is fantastic. It feels like I'm infiltrating a military base to dismantle a piece of alien tech. Really well-suited for a boss theme song. 9. Suicide - 10/10 This song is the one that dethroned Hagel and became my favorite, but only on my second listen. Firstly, that nigh omnipresent high-pitched ringing sound. It immediately reminds me of the anxiety sound that plays in FNaF 3 when Springtrap gets close to your office. At first, my reaction to it was intensely negative, likely due to the aforementioned association, but it quickly grew on me, and I think it really adds to the feeling of the song. This song is at once deeply unnerving and soothing, however ephemeral that overlap is. This is the song that most closely evokes the imagery of the album cover to me, with one's chest opened like a book, as the flow of the song feels very guttural. 10. selftornapart - 9/10 I think the unconventional name of this track, with no capitalization or spaces, helps build the vibe. I like the return of the ethereal floating feeling that existed for much of the front half of the album, but this time it has an air of finality to it, not only because it's the final song. Something about the way the instruments blend together to form the melody makes it sound more like a bittersweet end to an adventure: rather than being adrift on a sea of stars, as the third and (oddly) seventh songs evoked, this sea is instead composed of memories. Thank you for making this. You've more than earned a subscriber. I will watch your career with great interest. :)
Wow, this was super interesting to read! Thanks for the effort! There are a few things I want to answer. 1. Highway starts in 4/4 with those single piano notes, then switches to 3/4 for a big part, then switches to 4/4 in the speed up section and returns to 3/4 for the final part. 2. Deadman rush doesn't have any megalovania instruments in it, but Hagel, Highway, Burning disaster and War for war do. 3. End with explosion is a "I feel like a meat puddle with cat ears and really need some rest but am gonna write a song anyway" kind of thing. I definitely agree with your criticism of it. 4. Burning disaster indeed is more of a metaphorical name that doesn't refer to any kind of actual disaster. I usually put some thought into song names, but this one is an exception. I named it so because it sounded cool.
This is so fire, geniuenly i can see this being used in a video game. This feels so unique in its own way, with a tiny bit of undertale after taste. Maybe its just th melodies and progressions that feel familiar?
I dont think this is just loneliness anymore. It was loneliness over a decade ago. Its only been fed and fed and protected by others. Its blossomed. every attempt I have made to be free of it, denial and pain of inferiority, or self defense and trauma of being hurt. No, its much more. Blossoming, isnt that a positive word?
Reading your comment, I think I feel the same way too. I hope you're doing fine regardless of the loneliness you're feeling for a long time now. and I hope one day maybe there might be a chance to overcome that loneliness later down the road and find companionship for yourself if that's what you still wish to do. I'm sure it's never too late for something like that to happen for anyone even if it may not seem like it's possible, it just takes enough time and healing until a person is ready for it. I'm sure it may be possible for me too someday. Good luck, and I hope you take care
you have a part of God inside you. once you discover that, everything will change and pain will no longer be your opponent. until then, you can all hate on me :D
Thanks! I always put thought into the song order in my albums. i hope i understood what you meant correctly cuz if i didnt then it means i just said "look im really cool" without a reason.
Man, this album got me through a 7 page assignment that is due till next week. Thanks for freeing up my schedule because if I didn't find this album, then I probably won't not have written so much in such a small time frame.
Crazy that there's an RMMZ remix in this, cause it got recommended as I'm working on my first ever RPGMaker game! This is the perfect music to get me int he creative flow, thank you for sharing your lovely work ❤
I hope you upload the rest of the album after Deadman Rush as individual songs eventually. I've been coming back to 27:30 to listen to Suicide on loop.
Ohiyoooo I went to your Spotify link in description and can’t find this release! I’d really like to save end with explosion. Want to give the whole album a few more listens but this one stands out to me so much! Will this work better uploaded to Spotify?? If not do you upload the tracks individually on UA-cam or SoundCloud?
This album is not going to be on spotify. At one point all of the songs will be uploaded to this channel separately, and also you can download the entire thing on bandcamp.
These are really good, some of the better breakcore and dnb songs I've heard. A bit of constructive criticism though maybe tone it down a bit with the song titles. You might get your videos taken down or age restricted, UA-cam doesn't like references to certain "actions". Edit: Just read the description but still better to not tempt the algorithm.
Yeah, I thought about censoring / changing the song titles for the youtube upload, but that would kinda destroy the purpose of the tracks. Also, since this channel is small and videos don't take much effort to make, having a video taken down wouldn't be that much of a problem.
if not spotify, can this at least be released in yt music pretty please?👉👈 its so fucking cool, push further and i'm sure you will reach some recognition sooner or later

Electric guitar with aggressive dnb has to be the best combo. Number 8 was my fav. Too bad no spotify 🙃
