Thankyou. That was really clear and I appreciate the time you took to make this video and provide the explanation.

I was confused posteriorly at L5 S1 L 4-5 back in 2000. I started having pain in my back at L23, and L - 3-4. I had a laminotomy in 2023. It was very successful. In June 2024 I was hit by a car. I finally had a lateral fusion One week ago. The day after the surgery, the doctor came in and said I might need to have another surgery through the back that he couldn’t put rods in. All of the MRIs and tests look really good. All my pain on my leg is gone. My strength is back in my foot. I do not understand why he said this. I’m sure you cannot give advice, but if you have any words of wisdom, I would appreciate it. He is a doctor. That’s great with his hands, but not the best with bedside manner. All I know, is it put anxiety in what I was feeling to be a really successful surgery. 18:51

I have been doing considerable research and found this video particularly useful. Your description of the numerous approaches and their rationales is the model of clarity. I was having a difficult time understanding why my surgeon is considering an ALIF in addition to a PLIF. Given my spine issues all the way up through L2, I now understand. Just as important, I now know what questions I want to ask him before finalizing the plan.

Dr Ghosh I did find your descriptions of your surgical procedures interesting! I had many surgeries and have been suffering with severe debilitating fusion back pain!! 2 microdisectomies several post lateral and finally since they can’t seem to remember to tighten Peticle screw caps or install Peticle screws properly and after a yrs working hard physical back punishment chores, it was time to remove screws misaligned installed or too deeply installed screws managing to loosen right up! My life has been a living nightmare of pain on top of fighting leukemia! It’s a very difficult time trying to Sleep much less cut your grass or snow! Then you have every government agency down your throat with much distrust because of terrible narcotic Stigma Agenda all over the United States!! There are many human beings Suffering from very Real Life Altering Pain issues who are very legitimate!! Not in the government’s eyes!! Only your government can handle these issues Not your doctor!!! It’s been a very hard uphill battling the gov and severe debilitating pain issues from very legitimate evidence based back issues! Interesting

Oh, I am so sorry for your struggle! I totally get that. The government is running our health even though it has no clue! We are all or nothing societies. Either hand out pain medicine like candy or don’t give it to anyone no matter what. I got hit by a car in June and had to wait until just last week to get my fusion. I had to pretty much beg and sign my life away to be able to utilize the meds. Of course, I developed a tolerance for the meds so I had to keep increasing them and then I found that I was a drug seeking woman at 73 with no drug history at all. It’s very sad how we label and Demean people who are truly in need. I also know people who have MS and other pain producing diseases, and they too struggle where they didn’t have to to get their normal regular medication. Take good care. I wish you the best. 18:51 18:51
