- The Gregory Baltoro 65 backpack is a great pack, with a decent amount of room, and a very thought out design. The Gregory Baltoro 65 backpack is made of 210D DDR and 210D x 420D HD flat weave fabrics, and are extremely durable and weatherproof to a degree. Using this pack the last year, I have some up's and down's for this pack, mostly positive things. I’ve had this pack since 2014. I didn’t really fill it out until 2017. I lucked out & im real happy with this pack for deep mountain fishing trips, overnight bushcraft with gear, bushwhacking & hunting
does it have rain cover?
Nice, first time I've seen a review of the exact one I bought, about 2013 I guess. There have been two new iterations of it since and I'm not disappointed that I didn't wait for them.. I've had it on one two nighter and my Baltoro 65 really carried well with forty some odd pound in it on a very gnarly drenched trail. I was surprised how beautifully it kept the load snug close to my back and hips. It didn't sway at all. As wet as the hike out was, I don't recall it getting wet on the inside.
Ive had a gregory bolotoro since 2009 use for everything from traveling suitcase to weeklong backpacking trips. the thing has never failed me and is still a beast. I love it
Got mine in 2008 and it’s still going strong after many adventures. Only thing that failed was a single zipper-pull. Several 20 mile+ treks and overnight hikes at full capacity. Haven’t bought another pack because I just haven’t needed one.
Nice, the front opening is definitely a great feature. I have just ordered mine
Great review. One of the best quality I've seen for a pack. Thanks for posting.
i'm totally in love with my blue baltoro 75. my two only complains are the fact that the raincover is not included (and the bag doesn't have an especific pocket to keep it once you buy it) and the lack of internal divisions for small objects. other than those things, an excelent backpack
I agree, external is great. But there are some good internal offerings out there.
These are some great bags, also I'm not sure if you knew but the Boy Scouts of America carry and highly endorse this backpack system.
I like the knife setup you have Berz, very functional
Very comfortable pack. Just bought brand new for $190 on gander mountain's website!
Great presentation. I have the same pack and am getting ready to use it on a long hike. My concern is its water repellence. Have you had a down pour and if so how water proof was it or do I have to buy a pack cover for it.
Good review! I've tried both internal frame and external frame packs and I'm still stuck on the external frame. Call me old school LOL. Just found the external frame offers some uses the internals do not.
Appreciate the review. I'm assuming that they've revised the backpack since. I just bought this myself. Instead of just having that bladder sack that appears permanently attached in yours, it is now a completely separate day pack that detaches (Fits the bladder, plus has additional pouch or two for storage.)
The day pack/bladder gets horrible reviews tho
65 litre backpack -not lightweight but made to last , extremely comfortable, no gadgets or gimmicks, two excellent bottle pockets, YKK zip, plenty of attachment points, and a choice of harness size to best suit all body types- then look at the Australian made One Planet Stiletto. Money well spent say I.
I like where the knife holster is located...hope you don't miss the holster and bleed out in the woods
lololol, exactly what i was thinking.... ( blushes )
J Shoe it could be like the indean waiting for the Predator to come
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I've been trying to decide what pack to get this has been super helpful.
In depth review. 👍👍 I like what said about over sees. I don't know what didn't say about it...
Im torn between baltoro vs aether. Any advise
Does the EVA Foam soak up water or is it water resistant? That would add a ton of weight if it did!
Nice review. Thanks!
Thanks!
Buckles same as Osprey ones
Great review dude.. You definitely hit some points that others never even bothered with.
Love this pack but that price is up there!
Was thinking of this or a Kelty 80.
The position of the knife is Awesome!
Looks like an Ontario or a Rat..Great knife either way. I have a Kabar Becker BK7.
Btw Where in the word are you seeing this pack for $250 or less? I sure as hell can't find it?
It was a backcountry.com sale...
CaptainBerz hi
bro
That knife looks like an ESEE 5.
Thanks
Really, interesting.
What's the make on that knife holster?
Mark Anthony That knife is a ESEE 5, And that is the kydex sheath that comes with it :) ( i know this as i own one ) the clip it is mounted on also comes with the kinfe
Overprized overseas shiny thingie - I would spend my money on a Mystery Ranch pack instead.
Anyways, thank you very much for this decent and great review!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My opinion is based on my needs as a soldier on deployment. MM and the stuff from Glen Eberle has some features I can put to good use in the theatre not to mention that MM never failed me.
For more civilian purposes you can go with almost any decent pack that is available on the market. But I see that some brands charge prices that are not in relation to the provided quality.
Maybe gregory should make their backpacks to YOUR specifications! If you didnt like some of the features, you shouldnt have gotten it.
I have had packs that weighed the same 5+ pounds by time I got my gear in their I was heavy.True about the front strap those buckles break to easy esp when your pack is heavy. I busted 2 on my first day, when I was on a 10 mile hike.I'm thinking of going with this system www.amazon.com/Knottology-Spring-Assisted-Metal-Buckles/dp/B00CJDRUO0/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1413865210&sr=1-1&keywords=metal+buckles what do you think? I'm not fond of plastic. However they do have these, except their pricy but I think worth it if your on the go. Sea to Summit Field Repair Buckles.Ty for the video. I enjoyed it.
Mystery Ranch packs all the way. USA made.
Lol click it or ticket. Nice review Berz.
I should have said "Smart Phone"..lol
2:41 Beaver envy much?
Skinny Berz
I weigh the same now as then....
@@CaptainBerz It's cool man. We still got love for new Berz.
Those bloody buckles ...I like my Gregory 70 liter but the buckles oh my ...bad
lol
You dont like stuff made overseas?.....isnt your phone made overseas?.... Bet you cant live without it!
if we judge by the vote of the us people, then we have to say that fortunately they are not made by americans!
