Finally someone who can pronounce the names of the OEX sleeping bags. Be nice to see how small you could compress them and also see what you think of them useful tech specs though.
I have the EV400 and the EV200, I’d say the real comfort value of the 400 is more like +5 degrees… I found this out the hard way during a -2 camp a few weeks ago! 🥶 And that was while wearing a base layer, lightweight fleece, and a down jacket also - while laying on a Climate Insulated Static V sleeping mat.. I’ve since doubled up on these two bags, putting the 200 inside of the 400, with surprisingly very marginal room lost inside by doing so! I reckon that I’ll be good down to -2 now. Managed to pack them both together also in a 15L OEX Dry Bag, which still compresses them both down together nicely.. It does however now weigh a total of 1,975g, but it’ll be totally worth it to stay warm when the temps plummet overnight while out in the wild!.. 👍🏻
Unfortunately brands can state whatever temp ranges they like as there’s no standard. The OEX bags are great and really comfy but they need to address their comfort levels.
Good round up Andy - that winter liner looks handy - as a rough guess do you think that would make a 2 season into a 3 season? Is it called the 8+ cost it adds 8 degrees???
I would say it definitely adds a few degrees. 8 is a little far fetched but it definitely helps. Sometimes a few degrees make a huge difference, especially when -5 to +5 degrees in winter.
These bags all look great but currently seem to be much more expensive at the moment, if in stock. What budget bags would you recommend in their place? Ideally I'm after something 2-3 seasons. Thanks!
Hi Andy, new to camping just bought my first tent. I'm looking for a sleeping bag out of the 3 for my first. Which would you recommend please? Many thanks!
What’s your intention? Summer only? 3 seasons? All year round? It’s really difficult choosing a bag because unfortunately be bag does not to all. However, if you’re planning to go in warmer temps I’d say the 300. The 200 really is for summer only and the 400 will be too warm on hotter days.
@@BackpackingUK Yes my idea no is just to go in the warmer/ hotter months but it all depends on if its for me and I will enjoy it! I will go with the 300 for now. Many thanks
Yes, just add 3-5 degrees to the comfort ratings. Purchased all of them with my own money after watching reviews, trying the first one out and really liking it, then buying the ‘set’ 👍
Thanks. However, if I made this video again I would stress comfort levels are approx 3-5 degrees out! If you make this allowance you will be happy with the bags 👍
@@BackpackingUK i knew its a dog, my dog, a boxer, used to snore even heavier, would wake me up 😂. Good channel btw, thx for sharing useful info. Helps a lot❤️👍

Cheers Darren. I’ll be reviewing them individually soon.

Agree with you mate. I used the OEX 400 Fathom on a spring camp and absolutely froze - that was ontop of a Thermarest neoair too.
Great review Andy great deal for them will check it out thanks for the help Andy 👍
Cheers Gary. The extra 10% off is from Tuesday 9th February to midnight on Monday 22nd February 2021 (as per their T&C's).
I know this is an old video, but please don't go along with the go outdoors "retail price" which is misleading. The real price is with the membership.
Amazing combination review. Swear by OEX. Great kit at fantastic value.
The fabric they use is really soft and comfortable. They also pack up small for their comfort ratings and they're not too heavy either.

If you're after a summer bag you can usually get away with something cheap and cheerful. I'd have a look online and see what's on offer at the moment.
Great review thanks very much SUB added
