Adding Midori style note pages into my 5" x 8" Lapbook
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- One of the final stages in my lapbook is to add some Midori style note pages using just 2mm elastic bands to hold them in place. No hole punching or stitching required in this easy to add section of my 5" x 8" lapbook.

Thank you so much for watching! I welcome all polite comments and I'd love to hear from you, but if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!

Gotta say... so pleased I found you! You're simple... direct, and mostly you make me giggle!!!🤪
You have enough elastic left over to help keep your socks up and save passing strangers who have knicker elastic issues. Super hero Mike swoops in to save the day.
Lol - I almost made a "knicker elastic" joke in the video but stopped myself..XO
My preference is stitching, I found the midori fascinating for its ease, its convenience and its versatility. Oh, you clever lad, you have sparked by creativity again. In some ways: damn you and bravo you.
You can run Chuck, but you can’t hide!!
Love your video. Planning now to put midori style folders into my lapbook. Thanks for demonstrating how to put them in. Thanks.
Thank you very much Mike for a very simple and fantastic idea.
love it, as always....my mind is flipping with ideas...
Thanks for sharing Mike. I like how your lapbook turned out.
It’s just lovely
Uh Argh. So clever. 🎉thank you.
Your clever wit always gives me the giggles. I love the new addition to your baby.
Love this, used a version of this for a valentine gift for my husband, of some of our travels together...he was very impressed, thank you
Don't thank me - you made it!! XO
Great ideas, thanks for sharing. Love this little book!
I really love your videos because you have a great wit. I love the little asides you say and I laugh out loud. Super video as always. This project is coming along very nicely. I guess one could use a type of water colour paper about 160 to 220gsm and you could art journal in the pages (as long as your printer could take the thicker paper), or just use plain 250 gsm water colour paper. Then you have a note half and an art journaling half. Hugs to all xxx
Great video. I am going to look for the earlier and later videos now.
I've created a Playlist with all the Lapbook videos on my YT channel! XO
Brilliant, Mike! So versatile! Thanks for sharing. From Cheryl in AZ
Wow gorgeous book
Love the lapbook and all the pages. .TFS
Loving this!! So very cool. TFS Mike.
Nice job! :)
Very nice! Love the papers ;)
Your book is 👀 looking great! Love ❤️ the new papers you came up with.
Thank you for this., nice clear instructions.. i will be making myself one of these 👍😊
I think the Tim Holt paper is 100 lb weight which is the usual weight of card stock. you can also get printer paper that weight too . both in white and in bright colors
Very informative and humorous! TFS, Mike!
I need to make one of these. I also need to finish sorting and tidying my craft room. Great tutorial Mike.
Wheeeee! Just bought a buncha cool stuff from your website! Yippeeeeee!😁
Awesome! Thank you!
Love, love, love this video, you are on it Mike.👍🏼
I need a colour printer! Himself says no but if I ask for one for my 50th, could he deny me?
I just loved all the recent papers. You've really excelled yourself.
Get a Brother Color laser printer. You won't regret it! The toner lasts so much longer than an ink jet and the color is so sharp.
Thanks - I've got until July to wear him down!
The Epson printers have Durabright ink which is permanent when dry..a huge bonus!! XO
Informative and very entertaining, thank you!
I think your lapbooks would make a great gift! I'm going to make one for my mother-in-law. I noticed to construct your first one, you used duck tape, and on this one, you used masking tape. Is that really strong enough to hold up to use? I did find some duck tape that looks like burlap-thought that would work great for a grunge or vintage style book. Thank you for the great tutorials!!! Hugs to you, Ian, and Mr. Bentley!
Just starting my journal journey and started watching your lapbook videos. I am enjoying your style and mannerisms. I am now a new subscriber love. Thank you for creating!! 💖
This was an amazing project. Loved it.
Fabulous!
I LOVE your videos!!
Awesome, love your new papers!
Great job Mike!!
Great ideas, already made a start form various ideas, trying to do 'my own thing'- hmm, will stick with it~
In the US, standard copier paper is 20 lb weight. Thanks for sharing, Mike.
Thanks Bella - that's really really useful info! XO
The book is developing nicely. I have ideas developing, I may even get time to do one. Thanks. Xx
Or next workshop maybe??? XO
FANTASTIC...THANK YOU
Love your videos, Mike!
love it, thank you for the ideas!
Loving this series of videos! “Now go away...” Lmao! 😂😂
Hi Mike love the book and the videos to make it. One question Is the elastic you used cord elastic or flat elastic? It looks like rounded cord elastic to me but just checking. XX
Hi Laura - 2mm cord elastic which you can get from most jewellery making shops - I bought mine from The Bead Shop on eBay for £2.50. XO
Thanks Mike thought it was cord, think I have some, but thanks for the info. X
Great video! Still hoping you will do one for the flip out pages. Thanks for sharing. (Should have waited for end)🙄
Lol XO
TFS Mike.
Love this, is the elastic what we used to call “hat elastic” when our kids were small? Love the idea and will give this “lap book”; thank you very much for this video 🇦🇺😉👍🏻
Very nice addition! Everyone does pretty vintage botanicals, yes I love um too, but can you design something kind of steampunkish or funky, Mike designs?? Thanks sir😊
Do you mean a steampunkish set of signatures?
Is that a Tardis on your bookshelf 👏
TFS MIKE :)
Great video, Mike,
I now have a mental image of your masculine abs though, lol. I think that after fo,losing your instructions, I'm now feeling brave enough to see about making one for my sister for Christmas...it will most likely take me that long to make it lol
Bejay xx
If you get stuck...give me a shout! XO
LMAO....” the less said about that the better” the notion of what is masculine and what it is and is not, is still a bit straight jacketed, but hey I remember when wearing a pink shirt was very revolutionary things change just never quite at the speed we think they should
Would I be able to resize the papers off I got them Mike? TFS
Hi Naomi - they are hi-res pdfs just like our old CDs so yes you should be able to resize in Photoshop and other photo software. XO
I found some 12x12 digital scrapbook paper packs on Etsy that I really want to use to cover my handmade books & albums like this. Digi paper seems to come in a much larger variety than than traditional packs from vendors like Graphic45 or Tim Holtz. The problem is I can't find any body to print them. So far, I've had no luck at Fedex, Staples, Office Max and Costco. Do you know any place where can I get this done? Also, if they ask me to choose a paper, what kind would be the closest to store bought packs? Thanks :)
It’s difficult to give you any pointers when you don’t say where you are in the world.
Mike Deakin Oops sorry. I'm in the US in the state of Ohio. Perhaps you know of some online print shops that would work?
I did a quick Google search for Copy Shops in Ohio and pulled up quite a big list - maybe you'll find one close to you - as for weight of paper - you'll need something double or triple the thickness of standard printer paper. Here in the UK we use GSM not LB for paper weight - but I'm sure if you talk to someone local via a Google search they'll be able to help you out.
May be a dumb question, but are those printed on a laser printer?
No I used an Epson WF2630 inkjet
Nice job.
NO, NO, NO: I must wait for the piece de resistance. How cruel you are. Or: a marketing genius. I am trying to decide.
