As a Yank (20 years USAF), I find all of this quite odd and very interesting. I teach drill and ceremonies in the US and have done for several years. I enjoy watching other countries do similar things (in the US we call this a Color Guard or Color Team competition). Well done to the Airmen in this video; much training and even more practice is very evident in this performance. The DrillMaster (dotorg)
Just a note, I know you commented 8 months ago but the Banner Party in the video aren't quite members of the RAF and as such can't be called Airmen. They're members of the Air Training Corps (also known as Air Cadets) which are part of the RAF but on a youth organisation level. They're equivalent to the JROTC in America.
If I'm not correct, the escort on the left of the banner party, at 4:03 had about turn anti-clockwise as opposed to clockwise, was this correct of her to do so?
Thanks for the info, much appreciated! Drillmaster The Drillmaster dot (org) 20 years retired USAF 17+ years honor guard Drill team, honor guard and Driller trainer
I was in the scourt squad doing rifle drill for the banner on the trooping the colour squadron and i relised the banner squad did the same thing, i think its because they shouldnt face back to the banner but still, who cares it looks good and thats what i care about right ? ;)

they're timings are too quick when they're doing a turn, it should be one left right one
The idea is to always turn facing the banner therefore the anti-clockwise about turn was correct

Cheers for the upload, using this to aid in teaching.

yes it was, you don't turn away from it
Yes, the idea is they should always face the banner
By the center quick March not by the center march forward and turn to the right it’s stupid
THEY NEVER SALUTED THE OPEN BANNER!!!
Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

Ray, one cadet turned the wrong way, that's the bacics they should be way better on their drill.
thats how it should be lol, they never face away from the banner
Escorts sometimes need to turn the opposite way to not turn their backs on the banner
RAF Women sure have fine bosom! (And cracking drill also).
Keijo Mattinen they are cadets :/
