Respect to Canada from Russia. I'd love to visit Canada someday. In fact, I think our countries are very similar in many aspects, with vastness and nature and cold winters... oh, and hockey :)
Whenever I hear someone from the States say "I live in the middle of nowhere" I laugh. You don't know "middle of nowhere" until you've lived in Northern Canada.
Then I would say Try Nunavut, If there ever was a middle of no where in North America that is it. And Nunavut is huge, much larger than Alaska. O ps 1/10th the population of Alaska as well. Also Northern Quebec the Angava Peninsula. or Northern Western Provinces, they are all bigger than Texas. and so on.
My Canadian children and husband have no appreciation for Canada. We take trips back to England to visit my family and they get soooo excited. I'm glad to see family, but not particularly excited to visit home and not interested in tourist bits. When we go camping, I get soooo excited! And my kids and husband are mildly interested. I pick these beautiful spots in the Northern Ontario and Quebec with less campers and it's just soooo quiet and have long beautiful drives. Grrr! Canadians! You fail to appreciate what you have! Fail!
I love playing tour guide too. I met a couple a few years ago from the mid-western US. It was their first trip to the Maritimes (Atlantic Canada) and were headed to PEI. I suggested some places to visit.
"Hate" and "Canada" should never be used in the same sentence. Canada is awesome. I am so glad to have them with us in the commonwealth, they are the nation all others should aspire to be.
+goomba008 I think that's true most places...I'm in a mid-sized city in Ontario, and road rage is something I experience at least twice a day. Especially when there are slow-walking pedestrians in the crosswalk, and bicycles on the road, lol.
+goomba008 HOLY POOP. you said exactly what i was thinking, like holy shit Montreal would change his mind so fast, he wouldn't know what hit him--either an angry drunk beast, or a rig that doesn't know how to set his mirrors.
As a Canadian who has lived in Japan for a long time, this is a reminder of just how lucky Canadians are. Sure, Japan is a fine and beautiful country with nice people and great food, but Canada is Canada. Canada is in many ways an inspiration to the rest of the world. Canada, to me, is an ideal. This video made me very home sick.
@Ryan Gagnon ------ Hmmmm, his name is Lonely Londoner and his avatar is a British flag. Where could he possibly be from? I just cant put my finger on it, LOL!
Yeah I'd say the 400 series highways between Windsor-Toronto and the Golden Horseshoe, especially in Toronto, are just like big city driving in the States.
hate the remoteness? i guess some people may hate it, but most true Canadians love it, the nature, animals, lakes. it is truly wonderful, i do understand the distance of some places is a negative, like living up north, when my grandma goes to her cottage she is a 2 hour drive from the nearest wal-mart, it is honestly amazing, i hate living in the city
Mario Bartolo I think what I wanted to say was that if you are driving and you are not used to the vast distances it could scare you (this was something a few tourists we bumped into in Kingston were mentioning to us)
woltersworld ahh makes sense, i could see how driving up north and getting lost in a remote area without cell phone reception is a negative, especially if you have no idea where you are or where to go, anyways if that ever happens don't be afraid to ask for directions, most people up here are friendly :)
Mario Bartolo Agreed, its beautiful and the wheather to americans is "Freezing" as to me, all winter I can wear a sweater then again im Canadian, and if you can stand our "Freezing" wheather then you can basically go anywhere thinking that its not even near cold
woltersworld ..It shouldn't scare you, you should enjoy and take in the wonders of Canada, after all it's the journey that counts and not the destination.
It was because of the Alberta oil boom. Unfortunately it will never happen again since our government is anti-oilsands/ anti-self reliance. With the USAs new found oil independence they don't need our oil anymore so they only refine it and then ship it back to us for triple the price. Instead of being smart and prospering from the resource we have here at home we're going to leave it in the ground and support terrorism and misogyny by buying it from Saudi Arabia instead. Why? Because its 2020.
I visited Canada (from Ireland) a few years ago and stayed in Ottawa with a couple of relatives. I remember the Canadian people being so friendly everywhere I went and I truly loved the experience. I would definitely go back (and if I ever get the courage try and live in Ontario for a couple of years). Beautiful country and wonderful people with a positive attitude to life.
Thanks for sharing this video! ..I will migrate to Alberta, Canada 2 months from now to be with my husband. I told my husband that I'm excited but scared at the same time.. I'm going to live in a country that is very different from where I came from.. Culture, Cold weather (I grew up in a tropical country), language, food, people, place, etc. Plus I don't have any friends or relatives there. It's a whole new world for me.. but I'm looking forward to meet amazing Canadians and begin my new life in Canada with my husband. :-)
I've only been to Canada a couple times. Victoria was my favorite place I went but I'd love to explore all the beautiful national parks and etc. within Canada. Canada is so big.. I'm sure there is so much to see!
***** Yes, and sadly, half of the money allowed for your whole trip will go to the Bell Center. It is outragely expensive to go see the Habs. I used to buy 10 pairs of tickets at the old Forum each year. A shared season ticket. Not anymore. The only game I saw at the Bell Center was a $600 evening (I had been invited on coporate tickets)
whats funny is all these videos are based out out of Eastern Canada . Ive travelled from one end to the other by car 3 times Canada is more than Montreal or Toronto. Newfoundland probably the nicest people on the planet and a cool place to visit. and Im from Alberta thats my home .
+Dana WicNo, Canada abruptly ends at the Western Toronto City limits ! What is wrong with you? New Yorkers think that NOTHING exists past the Hudson River. New Jersey is a bridge to no where and nothing more. Toronto dwellers see Canada as being Toronto to PEI and nothing more. Sorry to burst your bubble. Upper Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC, Maniwhoha, ... those are all part of North Dakota or something... (laughing yet?)
+Dana Wick I was wondering what will happen to Canada with the OIL BUST. I am not laughing at all, this is serious because Canada has those tremendous reserves of OIL SANDS which can be ground to a fine powder and sifted into fuel.
+tommyboat64 Canada is already feeling the pinch here are some figures that have come out. Manufacturing of products for export brought the Canadian Government about 80 billion dollars in transfer payments now with that said most manufacturing is in Eastern Canada from light bulbs to Auto parts. The eastern part of Canada has always treated the West with disregard and disdain and think that we dont do anything significant for the Country. Alberta alone transfered 130 billion a year which is equal to what the Federal Government transfers to Quebec . Alberta Oil and Gas has been the largest employer in Canada with most of those employed in the Oil and Gas coming from Eastern Canada because we had work for them. Saskatchewan is also in the Oil and Gas business but i believe thats equal to their farming. Manitoba ( we really dont know what they do lol ) i believe they are mining and Farming. British Columbia are the Tree huggers of Canada beautiful province we have to give them that most of their wealth came from Logging which has been dealt a bad hand over the years but made up for it with the best pot in the world lol so they say. i dont partake in that BS. Alberta to has besides oil and gas farming and beef. Canada also has the best Ginsing in the world. Canada is not a Nationalistic Country our new Govt is trying to find some type of identity for us we already have one we may not be Nationalistic but we are certainly some of the most Patriotic Citizens on the planet.and we dont brag about it we just are. We do come together fully when there is adversary anywhere in the Country or the World despite what our new fancy selfie prime minister says. so was that enough for now ?? lol.
While jaywalkers are being rude (and breaking the law), I like that humans have the right of way. That's a highly civilized culture you've encountered.
As a Canadian I think it would work better the other way around. Reason being it is way easier to stop and look or get out of the way when you are a pedestrian than when your in a 2 ton vehicle going 50kph. Cars don’t stop very well and expecting them to stop for someone who walks into the road without looking doesn’t make sense. Obviously I think you should have to try and stop but saying the vehicle is legally at fault every time is simply not true, lots of times it’s the pedestrian that didn’t do there job to make sure it was safe.
i mean they kinda have the ROW at least in the us. maybe it’s just me, but im pretty sure most americans would stop if someone’s jaywalking across the road
@@UserName-ts3sp Where I have been in the U.S., a jaywalker who is not quick enough becomes legless. People driving cars do not want to run over people walking, but they will.
Before Thunder Bay was amalgamated a city, I think it was Port Arthur that had quite a few streets with Finnish shops. It's been a while, since the bypass went in. It would take a Finn to live on the northern tip of Lake Superior!
+Costco Wholesale Winter cold (-15 - -35C) postman wear long pants. At around -10C (mid-March), they wear shorts, if they want to. Simple. People say if you see a robin (American thrush) it's the first sign of spring. Here, it's the postmen.
Great video Mark. I've been to Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Banff and Vancouver and agree with all of your positives. Super friendly people was my biggest takeaway. By the way, loved how you pretended to touch your glasses (8:45) so you could glance at the cyclists walking by!
I loved your take on Canada. I grew up in Europe (but was born in Montreal), and it took me a while to adjust to the long distances between major cities when we returned to Canada in 1968. I have always had an outsider's appreciation of Canada despite having been born here. I don't think Canadians realize that what we have is quite unique. I, too, love the multicultural aspect of this country. I travel downtown in Toronto where there are distinct neighbourhoods for many, many cultures. It's like travelling the world in 1 day. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here. We just love American visitors like you.
I am so pleased to have some one say that we are indeed different from our American counter-parts. Notice that I did not say better or worse. Just different. Thank you so much Wolter for a wonderful review of our country. The five hates were not that bad really. But, being a Canadian born and bred, I am very proud of my country and all that it stands for. Cheers!
I live in Vancouver and here are my loves and hates: Loves: 1. the natural beauty of the nation, especially BC. 2. the amount of outdoor activities and short trips you can do around your city. 3. more space per person, unlike Europe or Asia. 4. the high school education, people who tried succeeded. 5. work culture, you don't need to worry about work after you go home. Hates: 1. political correctness. 2. expensive post secondary education. 3. major city traffic. 4. tipping and taxed everything. 5 taxation to pay for unwanted or unnecessary projects
I was waiting so badly for this video Mark!!! I lived over a year in this wonderful country and part of my heart is still there.. Fantastic pple and landscapes... u should do more videos about it!
Re crosswalks.... yes in Ontario, people cross the street in front of moving cars as if the crosswalk will protect them from an oncoming bus. In Quebec, if you try that, you’re getting run over.
Funny, that's not the perception we have in Quebec. Here, we feel safe jaywalking and such, but in ON, we feel like we're gonna get arrested by an overzealous cop.
I really agree with this guy ...Cananda is so good . I am really lucky to have come here and enjoyed these beautiful locations . People are super awesome and super friendly .
I'm a Canadian, and i just want to say "thank you" for noticing (and saying in your video) that there are differences between us and the States. You earned a like from me!
From a viewer born and raised about 120 miles north of Toronto, I can confidently say, you nailed it, Mark. I love it here, and despite my Greek heritage (and all that entails), I'm sure I'll love living here until the day I die.
I'm glad you mentioned poutine. If you are visiting Montreal and want the standard poutine, you can't go wrong anywhere with the possible exception of the fast food chains (the fries in poutine are normally a little thicker than what you get at McDonalds). If you want one of special poutines and don't care how much it shortens your life, I recommend the sloppy joe poutine from Poutine Centrale in Little Italy. It's exactly what it sounds like, Tex-Mex beef and cheddar on top of the fries and cheese curds of the traditional poutine and it is incredible.
In my city we have this place called the Whistle Stop, 100+ types of poutine, including things like pulled pork poutine and peameal poutine. Its basically poitine with toppings and it is amazing
Mix some stuff from around the world and you get what sounds like the fucking shit to eat! I can go there any time because I have right of blood so yeah :P
Toronto is one of my favorite places to visit. Canadian people being nice is an understatement, almost every place we went you made a new friend or found someone to go to the bar with. Also love the multiculturalism, there was different parades almost every day. 4 good thing is so true! I love baseball and when I went just happen to be when Toronto was hosting the world baseball classic. I recommend everyone go to Toronto at least once, and find someone local and go to a restaurant of their recommendation!
Great video! I leave for Toronto in 13 days. We're driving from Maine. I have no idea what to expect at all out of this trip other than seeing some really beautiful places along the way.
Ice, yes, but (guffaw!) DO tell your wife that if you are going to tour here in July, her bikini just might also be on order. temperatures have huge variations, both seasonal and day to night. I have known as high as 37C - scorching! but I have also known -45 C with a 60 MPH wind on top.
***** If you live in Southwestern Ontario down near the Windsor area winter isn't that bad. I live in Windsor, ON. and we have barely had any snow yet this winter and it's been fairly mild. This week is suppose to be pretty cold though. Our summers are really warm and humid though which is awesome.
I must admit when I saw your title I had to roll my eyes. I suspected you, like many others who travel blog about Canada, to be way off the mark on the likes and dislikes. After watching the video in its entirety my initial thoughts were wrong. You hit it spot on. Well done! BTW, thanks for giving lots of airtime to PEI. We often get forgotten or overlooked by travel bloggers and column writers. Keep traveling, love your stuff!!!
some of these comments make me sick. there are some rally bigheaded Canadians that are thinking that they are so amazing. AND BEFORE YOU HAVE A GO AT ME I AM CANADIAN MYSELF. all I'm saying is that I am really happy that Canada is widely regarded as a polite and friendly nation, but that's not going to last for long if our people start getting bigheaded about it. truth is, we have a lot we could learn from the states. as much as I absolutely adore Canada and am a proud Canadian, there are still flaws in our country and were not perfect not better than anyone. :)
"We have a lot we could learn from the states" ??? In the States, GUN CONTROL means using both hands !!! ha ha ha ha ha ha, Seriously though, America has a wide range of different lands, people and ways. I think we do learn a lot from Americans, benefitting from a lot of really good writers, thinkers, musicians, artists.........
im actually from Canada, and Hoodie Ⓧ ,You come from hot/steaming weather and you wanna come to chilly summers and -60 freezeing winters? idk man,but ur choice!
Hey Mark, great video, thank you! I love all your videos, it's very obvious that you do it with passion, and that you love traveling, you're funny and it's just a pleasure watching you. I check your you tube channel daily and hope to see some new videos! Your love and hates, are always very helpful and you point them out in such a friendly way. Keep it up, I am looking forward to your next videos! P.S. Do you plan to come to Serbia some day?
I have almost got to Serbia twice. I had tickets to go back in 2007 or 2008 but the day I was getting my train from Italy the us embassy was stormed :) the 2nd time was in 2012, but we changed plans last minute to go to a friends wedding in Italy. But the third time will be the charm :)
woltersworld Yeah, come to Serbia you won't be disappointed I am sure! Hey just been playing around, I think I have created a nicer template for your videos check it out here : my.jetscreenshot.com/12275/20140807-uouk-861kb.jpg It's just a screenshot but I can give you the file if you like it, feel free to use it. :) You helped me so many times with your videos so I am happy to help you back! Cheers!
Kristijan Binski that is nice. I have been debating on how to make a better screen shot for the videos. sometimes I feel like making the beautiful scenery pictures like you made or like a picture of the coliseum in Rome for Rome videos, but then I wonder if my subscibers might not think it is one of my videos, but just another "Rome" video. So I sometimes try to make sure one of the family is in the picture so the subscribers know its us. But dang, your's make it look so good!!!! Great job. And we are planning on coming to Serbia. I think we will do kind of a whirlwind tour with Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia. Kind of a former Yugoslavia swing. I think it would be amazing. I have met quite a few serbs on my travels and they have always been FUN to say the least :) honest as well.
woltersworld I hear what you're saying, good point! Well as a UI/UX designer I might be a bit more perfectionist than most of your other subscribers, but I tried to make it look better, The background image it's just an example so you could always replace this, I was also focusing on the other elements, like your logo is semi transparent, I think that's pretty cool, than you have the main headline, and subheadline below (different font, not shadow, but there is a semi transparent box in behind so the text stands out more). These could also be "hate #1 : it's expensive" and then some more description below etc.. Just like you did in your other videos but it looks a bit better. Don't get me wrong but I really did not liked much that dropshadows on the text, they are just too large in my opinion :-) So yea if you need any help like that, don't hesitate to get in touch (kristijanbinski@gmail.com), I will be happy to help you out free of charge! Haha yeah, that would be a crazy tour, to visit all those places in former Yugoslavia, you only missed Macedonia.. Btw, the prices here in Serbia are more than affordable, I already can see that this would be your number 1 love, or maybe the food, I'm not quite sure actually but one of those two would be number 1 for sure! :-)
I am also limited by the software I have. I need to spend the money and get "real" editing software and such so the videos look and feel more professional. Thank you for all the tips.
This makes me so excited to visit Canada. The #3 thing that you listed as a hate is the very thing I love about Europe and cities like San Francisco, CA; Boulder, CO and Portland, OR - the empowered pedestrian. I love a city that is designed for walkers and bikers over automobiles!
+InfinateDominance I almost ran over a mother and her two kids when they stepped out in front of my car. Then I got pissed because I almost killed 3 people and the mother turns to me and says (settle down, holy shit!) I cared more about their well being than she did! What in the fuck!
Canada is one of my to go places And maybe to live there- it seems like a beautiful place Meanwhile my state is way over populated with people and it's so hot
I don't want to take anything away from the places you mentioned but you didn't talk much at all about Western Canada. The Rocky Mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, the straights in around Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary Regina, with their individual beauty and wonderful festivals. Etc etc... so much else in a very diverse country. Winnipeg fishing areas. I could go on, but these areas were conspicuously overlooked.
Hey I have a tablet, I accidentally reported your comment as spam, I apologize, I don't know how to undo it, or even what happens when spam is reported. Sorry about that, just giving you a heads up.
No joke, I visited Toronto in July with a friend who is also from the states and we were walking to the Royal Ontario Museum from the CN Tower and we saw two guys walking the other direction with hockey sticks. None the less, I would highly recommend visiting Canada I want to go visit there again! Wonderful people!
If you ever come back in the summer season the Stratford Festival has 4 theatres that put on chamber plays, musicals and Shakespearean plays. check out the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Stratford may be a small city however it is known world wide for theater. it is also only a couple of hours away from Toronto.
Idk? It's mostly prairies. However if you mean the sheer beauty and lack of human influence then yes! Truly a special province but then again most places in Canada are just as beautiful in there own prospect. (Outside of big cities)
I want to. We just ran out of time with he kids having to go back to school :( dang kids ruin all the long trip ideas ;) But we will be heading out that way for sure. Love Canada and will miss my Tim hortons :)
Haha, it's fun to hear Americans talk about Canada, hopefully I visit the US someday to see the differences myself. I've been nearly everywhere you talked about here, and think you've got it down pat. Our minimum wage is going up, which is good bc not all service industry jobs can get tips (like cashiers, stockers, etc).
The reason why it's more expensive in Canada is because one US dollar is worth more than one Canadian dollar but it's close enough that retailers accept 20$ USD as 20$ CAD so really everything has the same value but the number of dollars is higher. But there are places like Vancouver that are VERY expensive you are right about that. Great video, keep it up!
Dude I live in Canada and what you are saying only really applies to the east and central Canada. Come to the west and you will be floored you can't really pigeon whole us. Also we don't just eat poutine and maple syrup. Try smarties or coffee crisp
Spend 9 years studying alone in this country. Love it! People here are super friendly and nice, even though driving in Montreal is such a pain. Love the winter and the cold here (I'm dead serious!) It's Canada! You need to enjoy the cold and the winter sports! Nature is wonderful here as well! You really need to get out there and enjoy the nature! It's what makes it Canada!
If anyone was to travel to Canada from over seas especially, Saskatchewan isn’t a place I would recommend visiting lol. Jasper and Banff I would recommend. Or the big cities Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal. Or even Nova Scotia or Newfoundland. Saskatchewan wouldn’t make the list.
Catweasle yeah!! Thinking bout going there for college too. Quite a couple of my friends are there. Don't know whether to go to the us or Canada or Aussie but I don't want to go while trump's president
That was 2014, however. Right now our peso -er- dollar is a piddly 77¢ or so against the US buck. For every 20 Ameribux you exchange, you'll get 25 Canabux, which really helps out as prices (except for gas) will look really quite similar.
You go all over Europe where people walking and people on bikes far outnumber any cars, but then complain about "empowered" pedestrians and cyclists in a country where the roadways are still heavily biased towards car use only. Bizarre.
Oh man, I gotta admit that you're right on the nose about distances between places. I mean, it's not really a bad or a good thing - it is what it is; but yeah, it can take AGES to get between some cities when you're visiting. Also, I agree on taxes. They should have the total amount on the price before the point of sale.
It's more for my European followers who think Canada and the usa are like europe. 2 hours and I'm in another country, while in Canada I'm only 1/3 of the way through new Brunswick :)
+woltersworld It's so true! I lived in Scotland for a few years and had a roommate from Germany who just could not wrap his head around the size of the country. We checked on a map and realized that the distance from Vancouver to Toronto is roughly the same as Berlin to Bagdad. If you were driving that, you'd be going through at least 5 other countries! :D
toronto and montreal are not in the same province.... if you notice I used 2 cities within a province :P like me saying Edmonton to Saskatoon is 6 hours as well :P I was simply making a statement that Canada is large and have no clue why you had to re compare it with eastern cities lmao
You keep talking about how wonderful Banff National Park (Alberta) and Vancouver (British Columbia) are in your video, but your video segments are all filmed in Eastern Canada. This is why everyone from around the world thinks all Canada has to offer is in Eastern Canada (Toronto, in particular). Because USA tourists only ever film or talk about that part of the country, it seems. But this is a HUGE country, and the West is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. You need to SHOW people Western Canada on your next video rather than just making a couple of brief comments about it. You need to SHOW them the beauty British Columbia and Alberta. These two provinces are very different from the East. In fact, all the provinces offer something quite different and unique, even the prairie provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. (Other than that, I agree with pretty much everything you say in your video. Empowered pedestrians ... ha ha. Funny because it's true! And YES, the poutine is wonderful here ... in both the East and the West!)
Awesome, Kim . Enjoyed your comments......."The West is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful." Yes, it is . Wish you many blessings, from a Prairie boy, halfway around the World.
Great video! Thanks for making it and exposing the good aspects of Canada. If you can dedicate the time to traveling across the country and seeing the hot spots for nature, it's unbelievably beautiful and vast. The cold isn't for everyone, but if you can hack it, winter has serene beauty that instills a calmness in ones soul.
Chris Jones - Bieber is America's fault....they make those things...not us. We make the Hip, Blue Rodeo, Cohen, Rush ya know...music artists. Not pop stars.
I live in Texas...and I eat Poutine all the time!...No..unfortunately they don't sell it here nor have most people ever heard of it...but the ingredients are easy to find..so I make my own!..And it is delisious!..:-)
Canada has done a poor job marketing it's self in the world. I am an ex pat Canadian living in Brazil. I don't mind at all when people think I'm american, but when I tell them I'm Canadian, many say: Oh, it's the same. Your american. That pisses me off! and I am NOT anti-american in any way! I then call them Americans, which they take offense .. so I make my point, and still some will still refer to me as American, no matter what! I think only an Austrian, or New Zealander could understand a Canadians perspective on this issue. We are Canadian, and we are proud! no, I don't miss the snow and cold. Thanks very much!
_Canada has done a poor job marketing it's self in the world._ Couldn't tell by me. I spend several weeks of the summer in the rockies (mostly Jasper - Banff has become a tad too crowded and "touristy" for me) and - no joke - most of the people I meet on the hiking trails are either German or British. It never fails to amaze me how many Germans and Brits come to our mountains. Hells, even the park rangers are often surprised to hear that I'm an Albertan.
***** I don't know why Canada has such a stereotype of being sooo cold, it's only really cold for 3 months surrounded by mild, and REALLY hot summers. There are many other countries that are way colder.
Central/Northern Alberta roads are the worst I've seen anywhere. And Ive been to 23 countries. Its sad that I thought it was normal until I grew up and travelled outside alberta to other places and saw how perfect roads can be
I don't think the roads are bad in Alberta, it's more the weather that freaks me out while driving on said roads. The trip between Calgary and Edmonton can be scary if it snows.
Not cheap - tourist destinations often put a surcharge on top of your bill. This is often because they are responsible for paying the ads for that region that the city/province puts out for them. This can of course be expensive/cheap depending on exchange rates. So I suggest not actually staying directly in the area you are going to be exploring - you'll find more savings - and don't always go in the 'tourist season' unless there is some thing that you really want to see that time of year.
Hahaha empowered cross walking for the won. As a person who grew up near toronto and currently lives in Ottawa... it never even occurred to me that pedestrians would NOT have the right of way. I find it pretty funny that foreigners would be surprised that as a driver you have to yield to a bike or pedestrian.
Christopher Miller The uploader doesn't seem to realize that some pedestrians are disabled or elderly and can't sprint across the road, or that sometimes the middle of the block may actually be safer than the official crosswalk. At least that's how it is in some places when the city doesn't bother to clean the ice off the sidewalk on the corners, but the businesses elsewhere are more considerate. And moms with a lot of kids do take longer to get everyone across the road.
You are both right. common values, but different people and culture. its hard to explain but we are different in the west. I am from Saskatchewan. Where it literally can be -30 one day +1 one the next and back to -30 the day after.
Jay Bauer Enjoyed Canada in July, even in the Yukon. But I found Calgary dangerously cold in March. Believe it or not Canada, spring is supposed to start in March, not April.
Yup Saskatoon in January, Feb, March. can range from -35 to 0 not talking wind chill. it has hit close to -50 with the windchill the last 2 years. one day last years. it was -30 one day +1 on the next and -30 the day after.
Respect to Canada from Russia. I'd love to visit Canada someday. In fact, I think our countries are very similar in many aspects, with vastness and nature and cold winters... oh, and hockey :)
Yes they are very similar, I wish to travel to Russia someday as well!
I've always felt the same, Canada and Russia are very similar.
Canada also is quite friendly with Scotland.
Canada also is quite friendly with Scotland.
Come to canada! Its great here
Whenever I hear someone from the States say "I live in the middle of nowhere" I laugh. You don't know "middle of nowhere" until you've lived in Northern Canada.
well then try Alaska, Americas islands, the mid west, its deserts ........
Then I would say Try Nunavut, If there ever was a middle of no where in North America that is it. And Nunavut is huge, much larger than Alaska. O ps 1/10th the population of Alaska as well. Also Northern Quebec the Angava Peninsula. or Northern Western Provinces, they are all bigger than Texas. and so on.
+stephen arellano -You do realize that Canada sold Alaska to the U.S., right?
+Will Thompson you mean America bought it from Russia, southeast maybe from Canada
Also Nova Scotia has lots of remote areas lol
geez I am Canadian and this guy makes me want to go check out Canada.
Essardee because its an awesome place ;)
Essardee ha ha ha

I LOL'd.
Do it don't just think about it. I have 1 province left to see.
“People will literally plan your vacation for you.” True. I love playing tour guide and showing people around. 😊
That's awesome. Thank you.
Whoami691 well you just did. lol
Thank you very much,my commonwealth brother

"The people are friendly drivers". Well maybe outside cities. Don't drive in Montreal, it will turn you into a hateful monster.
It is unfortuntely true.
+goomba008 Or in Reddeer in Alberta...
+goomba008 Edmonton is fairly bad to for drivers, noone knows how to merge its brutal (coming from someone that lives there)
As a Canadian who has lived in Japan for a long time, this is a reminder of just how lucky Canadians are. Sure, Japan is a fine and beautiful country with nice people and great food, but Canada is Canada. Canada is in many ways an inspiration to the rest of the world. Canada, to me, is an ideal. This video made me very home sick.
I get homesick for Toronto, hence my name.
aww :(, one of most amazing moments was coming from australia back to Calgary AB Ca and breathing the fresh mountain air..
Thats only your opinion. As an international student in Canada I have to say I'm glad I don't live in this backwater country
LonelyLondoner Loser go back to your country lol
@Ryan Gagnon ------ Hmmmm, his name is Lonely Londoner and his avatar is a British flag. Where could he possibly be from? I just cant put my finger on it, LOL!
" The drivers are friendly, they'll let you in", lol, tell that to this southern ontarian
touche ;)
You have a point

***** exactly!! I would much rather spend nice a weekend up north camping with friends than to go to a party. it's so peaceful
I wish we were still 1 to 1 with the $US.
I ate an avocado for the first time last year. My life was changed forever. :)
That was a glorious time.
Canada is truly a remarkable and beautiful place. Food, entertainment, history, nature, amazing people and culture, we have it all.
I would love for you to visit again!
I love Canada, it's one of my favorite countries. Greetings from Finland!:)

Cheerz back! One of my best childhood memories was fishing in my families cabins among the lakes(In Finland), i was just a kid but
I love my country. I love the people in it. And I feel so lucky everyday to call myself a Canadian. Respect is driven into our hearts.

You'll it enjoy in Alberta.
+Skip Sandwich nah it's colder in Manitoba

I hope you love it here in Canada. Lots of great places to visit.
girl trust me Canada is beautiful and last winter At least in toronto didn't come until February and it wasn't a bad one we barely had a winter
Canada is clean too!!
Most of it is super clean.
+Noah Glover except B.C, Canada.
ᄃ최윤석 If you're in Richmond or Surrey it's dirty but the rest of BC's pretty good.
Most of Canada but NOT Vancouver it's really dirty in some parts
+TomBoy12 Love12 vancouvers is one of the nicest every city has its dirty parts but Vancouver is actually really beautiful
I've only been to Canada a couple times. Victoria was my favorite place I went but I'd love to explore all the beautiful national parks and etc. within Canada. Canada is so big.. I'm sure there is so much to see!
Next time you visit come to Calgary, Alberta

Yes, and sadly, half of the money allowed for your whole trip will go to the Bell Center.
This trip was PEI to Toronto yes. Next trip is out west so don't worry will get both sides of the story ;)
+woltersworld lol well nows a good time to come the dollar is crap and everyone out here is unemployed hahaaha. looking forward to your visit
@@KyleMeyer949 50KPH isn't that fast.
i mean they kinda have the ROW at least in the us. maybe it’s just me, but im pretty sure most americans would stop if someone’s jaywalking across the road
@@UserName-ts3sp Where I have been in the U.S., a jaywalker who is not quick enough becomes legless. People driving cars do not want to run over people walking, but they will.
I'd so want to live in Canada, daamn. You guys seem friendly there and i love ice hockey much as Canadians do haha! cheers from Finland
yeah there are a lot of Finnish people here
You should move to Newfoundland from Canada a lot of people pronounce it Newfinland
:D
Before Thunder Bay was amalgamated a city, I think it was Port Arthur that had quite a few streets with Finnish shops. It's been a while, since the bypass went in. It would take a Finn to live on the northern tip of Lake Superior!
***** nice to see another tbayer on here!
I'm Canadian and the winters here are nothing to Canadians....i mean -1 or -2 you'll see some people in shorts and a t shirt or no shirt at all.
I've never seen that. At least where I live, people dress sensibly.
In Winnipeg, I know Spring's coming & its above freezing because the postmen (& women) are wearing shorts.
Kevin Babb ?
+Costco Wholesale
Winter cold (-15 - -35C) postman wear long pants. At around -10C (mid-March), they wear shorts, if they want to. Simple.
People say if you see a robin (American thrush) it's the first sign of spring. Here, it's the postmen.
I'd die! I was there in the summer and it was too cold for shorts.
Great video Mark. I've been to Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Banff and Vancouver and agree with all of your positives. Super friendly people was my biggest takeaway. By the way, loved how you pretended to touch your glasses (8:45) so you could glance at the cyclists walking by!
Tricky man I am ;) thanks for watching!
We just love American visitors like you.
go to the prairies and watch your dog running away for two days!
British Columbia in the spring time is undoubtedly the most beautiful part in North America.
as are you
I always go there for my spring holiday.
I agree!
Dear Canada - someday I will visit you. It's my biggest dream.
It's really nice here in Canada I love it here😆

Thank you for the flattering review of Canada! :)
Greetings from Germany and a hello to all Canadians ^^
hi
Hello
heyyy
Boujour
:D
I am so pleased to have some one say that we are indeed different from our American counter-parts. Notice that I did not say better or worse. Just different. Thank you so much Wolter for a wonderful review of our country. The five hates were not that bad really. But, being a Canadian born and bred, I am very proud of my country and all that it stands for. Cheers!
I live in Vancouver and here are my loves and hates:
Loves:
1. the natural beauty of the nation, especially BC.
2. the amount of outdoor activities and short trips you can do around your city.
3. more space per person, unlike Europe or Asia.
4. the high school education, people who tried succeeded.
5. work culture, you don't need to worry about work after you go home.
Hates:
1. political correctness.
2. expensive post secondary education.
3. major city traffic.
4. tipping and taxed everything.
5 taxation to pay for unwanted or unnecessary projects
If you think post secondary education in Vancouver is expensive you must be dirt poor
I still pay taxes for the Toronto Roads Fund, which hasn't worked out for the last 2 tax seasons.
I was waiting so badly for this video Mark!!! I lived over a year in this wonderful country and part of my heart is still there.. Fantastic pple and landscapes... u should do more videos about it!
We have 10 more ananda videos to go so stay tuned :)
+vishwas jain I wish I met those people. My experience was just the opposite.
+Day2DayWithMcK I am going back again next month. I hope my experience remains the same.
Lots of remote locations is my favorite part of Canada, (I'm Canadian)!!!
Such a nice outlook of Canada! I feel the same way when I visit USA! its friggin awesome oot there eh :)
Thanks for the great review. Our maple syrup is great. Export about 80% of it. P.E.I. Is one of the best spots I've seen.
I was born and lived in Canada for 40+ years and never once have I eaten poutine. I loved living there and go back to visit as much as I can.
I love your enthusiasm for Canada. Merci!
It's exactly what it sounds like, Tex-Mex beef and cheddar on top of the fries and cheese curds of the traditional poutine and it is incredible.
gturner38 I give you a thumbs up just because you put the word Poutine in this comment :)
In my city we have this place called the Whistle Stop, 100+ types of poutine, including things like pulled pork poutine and peameal poutine. Its basically poitine with toppings and it is amazing
Its hard to take your review seriously when mention a shit shop like Mcdiddys
Mix some stuff from around the world and you get what sounds like the fucking shit to eat! I can go there any time because I have right of blood so yeah :P
If you visit Montreal you must try their world famous smoked Meat sandwiches their to die for.
Amazing video! I'm from Montreal, and what you'r saying is so true.
Haha, Montreal est grand, bonne chance pour me trouver ;p
Toronto is one of my favorite places to visit. Canadian people being nice is an understatement, almost every place we went you made a new friend or found someone to go to the bar with. Also love the multiculturalism, there was different parades almost every day. 4 good thing is so true! I love baseball and when I went just happen to be when Toronto was hosting the world baseball classic. I recommend everyone go to Toronto at least once, and find someone local and go to a restaurant of their recommendation!
We were in Toronto while they were out of town so couldn't get to a game, but the people love their bluejays for sure. Thanks for writing!
woltersworld thank u
I LOVE SAINT JOHN'S AND TORONTO :D Harbour Grace is cool too
Thanks Packer!
to be honest canadians can be very polite to the point you feel you are the rude dude.. i swear those people are from a different planet
Great video! I leave for Toronto in 13 days. We're driving from Maine. I have no idea what to expect at all out of this trip other than seeing some really beautiful places along the way.
Canada is very important because that's where ice comes from! :)

I'm really thinking about moving to Canada, im so bored and tired of London :/
There's always London, Ontario
***** dude what is with you in Australia? Just asking.
Same here, London is pretty boring! Been wanting to move to Canada for few years, I'm looking for work over there atm :)

AND SOOOO MUCH MORE!!

You helped me so many times with your videos so I am happy to help you back!
THANK YOU, I AM PREPARED FOR CANADA NOW. - QUEBEC RESIDENT
LuchLavoie ? Quebec is in Canada
Stolen Sweetroll it’s a separatist joke dude
I had to crack up at the entitled cross walkers/bikers because it's spot on. I'm Canadian and it couldn't be any more accurate
+InfinateDominance I almost ran over a mother and her two kids when they stepped out in front of my car. Then I got pissed because I almost killed 3 people and the mother turns to me and says (settle down, holy shit!) I cared more about their well being than she did! What in the fuck!
I am Canadian and don't agree with him. I live in the west.
Canada is one of my to go places
And maybe to live there- it seems like a beautiful place
Meanwhile my state is way over populated with people and it's so hot
Canada is the most beautiful and welcoming country for the tourists .
I love the Calgary Stampede. It's just so filling!
Maybe you mean the Pacific Ocean?
They moved the Atlantic Ocean to the west coast?

I love that the first thing I hear from Canada is a police siren lol

No joke, I visited Toronto in July with a friend who is also from the states and we were walking to the Royal Ontario Museum from the CN Tower and we saw two guys walking the other direction with hockey sticks. None the less, I would highly recommend visiting Canada I want to go visit there again! Wonderful people!

Driving in Alberta always looks amazing.
Idk? It's mostly prairies. However if you mean the sheer beauty and lack of human influence then yes! Truly a special province but then again most places in Canada are just as beautiful in there own prospect. (Outside of big cities)
+BetterSkatez I agree. And tbh, some of the towns and cities do have their own interesting look too.

That's why we gave him away. It was the Americans who made him famous tho

Actually no. The worst thing about Canada is Vancouver`s inequality. Why would Bieber be on someones hate list? Doesn't he sing? Is he political?
E.T. It was a joke...
This makes me proud to be canadian :) But the gas prices, and liquor prices are $$$$, so true, gotta come check out Edmonton Alberta!

Kieran Mcgarry so true.
Mhm :)
I went to Miami, SOOO NICE!!!

It's Canada! You need to enjoy the cold and the winter sports! Nature is wonderful here as well! You really need to get out there and enjoy the nature! It's what makes it Canada!
I live in Saskatchewan, Canada... middle of nowhere.. LOL
J Silver Funny how he doesn’t mention Saskatchewan once.
Ryan Coulter because it’s boring with a shit climate and no mountains.
My last province to visit. Covid canceled it.
Im a Canadian living in Mexico and you sure made me miss home!!! Thanks for the generous review of the great white North :)
You're not missing much. The weather here is cold and gloomy.
if you're worried about tax, go to Alberta. We only have GST.
but everything costs more, so no benefit.
I loved your video. Very helpful. Thank you so much. Have a nice day!
Ha. No.1, the remoteness? Come to Australia. There is no tipping here and the price you see is the price you pay. :-)
Catweasle yeah!! Thinking bout going there for college too. Quite a couple of my friends are there. Don't know whether to go to the us or Canada or Aussie but I don't want to go while trump's president
Catweasle so many aussies come to canada in our winter (ur summer) to work on our ski mountains. 90% of mountain workers either aussies or kiwis.
J mill Cool. What do you think of us?
Catweasle annoying af. Jk idk ur cool guys
Is it? To live or as a tourist? I live here and our wage is higher than Americans, so that would off set any high prices I would imagine.
Pretty fair assessment and thanks for the compliments.
+Les Brown thank you to you. All the best to you!
You seem like a good guy to have visit us.
Yes, it is a big country.
+Wolters World are you canadian or american
Canadian.
Bizarre.
I've watched a bunch of your videos and I really like them! Keep up the good work! :)
+Social Vultures Edmonton to calgary = 3 hours you can cross 3 states in that time in some places lol.
TorrentOfficial 3hrs that's pretty close. Toronto to Montreal is a 6hr trip.
toronto and montreal are not in the same province.... if you notice I used 2 cities within a province :P like me saying Edmonton to Saskatoon is 6 hours as well :P I was simply making a statement that Canada is large and have no clue why you had to re compare it with eastern cities lmao
Taxes pay for social programs.....duh....you know things like FREE health care....you know the health care Americans do not have.
You should have added Justin Bieber to the hate and Jim Carey to the love.
Hating on JB was so 2010
Oh no, its still a thing in Canada to hate Bieber, we get our style a bit later perhaps...
Chris Jones - Bieber is America's fault....they make those things...not us. We make the Hip, Blue Rodeo, Cohen, Rush ya know...music artists. Not pop stars.
Richard's World we don't hate Justin Bieber he's young and Nick some steaks the same as we all did at his age. but very talented!
.
You need to explore western Canada. This video should be titled - love and hate about "eastern Canada".
he mentioned banff and bc several times
Been to Canada many times and have never had poutine. I guess I'll have to remedy that!
TanRu Nomad then you haven't lived :)
I live here and I've never had it.
I live in Texas...and I eat Poutine all the time!...No..unfortunately they don't sell it here nor have most people ever heard of it...but the ingredients are easy to find..so I make my own!..And it is delisious!..:-)
Hes probably not a real Canadian if he hasn't had poutine ⬆⬆⬆
Korman korman that's me. the fake canadian
Canadians are really nice and generous.
Hope that i can go to Canada again and feel the nature, family bonds, and free spirit 😀😀😀😀😀
_Canada has done a poor job marketing it's self in the world._
Couldn't tell by me.
Depends what cold means to you? If you live in Florida, it's one thing. If you live in Maine, it's another. Let's not even mention Alaska.
***** I don't know why Canada has such a stereotype of being sooo cold, it's only really cold for 3 months surrounded by mild, and REALLY hot summers. There are many other countries that are way colder.
O
sc0tte1 ...Maybe that depends on what part of Canada you're talking about...? Other northern countries have their hotspots also...
1:17 "The roads are good" I guess that he hasn't been to Northern Ontario.
or all of New Brunswick
or south of Quebec
Central/Northern Alberta roads are the worst I've seen anywhere. And Ive been to 23 countries. Its sad that I thought it was normal until I grew up and travelled outside alberta to other places and saw how perfect roads can be
I don't think the roads are bad in Alberta, it's more the weather that freaks me out while driving on said roads. The trip between Calgary and Edmonton can be scary if it snows.
Southern Ontario has it worse.
Le Bonhomme Carnaval anyone?
Christopher Miller
The uploader doesn't seem to realize that some pedestrians are disabled or elderly and can't sprint across the road, or that sometimes the middle of the block may actually be safer than the official crosswalk. At least that's how it is in some places when the city doesn't bother to clean the ice off the sidewalk on the corners, but the businesses elsewhere are more considerate. And moms with a lot of kids do take longer to get everyone across the road.
:) Courtesy to the pedestrian for the win!
What's a crosswalk?
yahshua friend
You've got to be kidding.
i am :)
I live in Canada it is the best you you if you live in Canada like this 👍
really its amazing canada
👍🏻
Western Canada is very different than Eastern Canada. Just like Western USA is different than Eastern USA
I disagree, I have family in western Canada and Down East I am from Toronto- we all share common values
Calgary in March is not cold. Try Saskatoon in January
Yup Saskatoon in January, Feb, March. can range from -35 to 0 not talking wind chill. it has hit close to -50 with the windchill the last 2 years. one day last years. it was -30 one day +1 on the next and -30 the day after.
Yes, the taxes, . . but . . It pays for our universal health care. Nothing's free but the scenery.
"Things I love about Canada is the roads. They are amazing!" HAHAHHAHAHA!!!! COME TO WINNIPEG, YOU'L EXPERIENCE REAL CANADIAN ROADS!!!
Bruh I'm Canadian and everyone jay walks...
I am Canadian and I hate the taxes and how expensive everything is
thank you for doing such a great job of our Country!!! We also love great visitors like yourself!!!
