Beautiful wife, Beautiful Life... She sounds like she's from Mass. Good call on the overlanding trip, TheTopher Every day, you shows us a video of the capability, and refinement of the 460(vs the 470 I own), you are inching me closer to getting a 460 as well.
Looks like a great time! Beautiful views and really well shot. Always nice to see people using these Lexus' for what they were built for. Crazy that all they need is a set of tires to tackle these trails with ease.
Your videos are great. Very informative. I've driven several of the cars in your videos and my opinions are exactly the same. It's like I'm driving the car myself because I trust your opinions. Best POV videos on UA-cam.
Looks like a cool ride! I'm looking at buying a GX470 and I'm very familiar with the Keweenaw and the trail to High Rock Bay. Not all that technical, though the puddles are really deep in the spring. The biggest thing I don't like is that since those trails are so rocky, I tend to drive around 5-7 mph and everything gets hot after an hour of driving that slow. It's a fun ride, but I'm always happy to get back on the road and get the truck cooled down.
Truly it's a heartwarming video, you're both cute together. Nevertheless, i had some doubts previously about Lexus capability of making it through these actual road trips. It seems rock solid and smooth at the same time. Love it!
A 32" tire will fit in the spare location with a little trimming on the hitch. Also, it's a full-time 4WD system so you have to run a full-size spare or you will destroy stuff in short order. I still can't believe that fuel economy, seems unreal, I've never seen better than 19mpg and that was when stock.
I managed to take a '88 Corsica through similar terrain in the Keweenaw. It's a miracle the only damage I sustained was a busted power steering line. The logging camp I came across was definitely amused.
I LITERALLY HAVE BEEN ON THIS FOR A MONTH 😂😂😂 I AM SO GLAD YOU MADE THIS CAUSE I TRUST YOU THE MOST, I am totally getting the 470 to make an overland rig. Can pick up one with the 4.7 from 04 to 09 very reasonably priced, and not beat up
That GX is capable of soooooo much more without even breaking a sweat. Take it to a off-road park and have a go. You’ll be pleased with how easy it is to do some impressive feats of off-road goodness
Hello I'm really enjoying this video. I must say, great cinematography , great editing. I enjoyed, the rocks, dirt, mud, the greenery. At 5:13 I loved the audo( the sound of the water ). Great video All the best Shaun of NYC 🗽🗽
I made it halfway down that trail to high rock bay with a focus. It was a blast, but the poor little focus did not enjoy that at all. I figured that since I needed to drive 500 miles home afterwards, I would park and walk the rest lol. That is one of my favorite places in the state!
Here in the pinelands of New Jersey we’ve actually seen Tesla sedan’s driving around. Don’t feel too bad about the G6. You know your suspension is going to live to fight another day but that G6 is going to have to get a new suspension oil pan transmission pan. You name it! That is one of the reasons why I don’t like to buy used cars. Never know what crazy things people have done with them…
Im on my second one and I have never seen better than 19-20 mpg. I find this so hard to believe, even on a stock GX when most average 17-20 mpg on the highway and 13-17 mpg in town, those numbers drop when lifted and modified of course.
Great Video Topher! I had my T-belt done at the shop you recommended out in Detroit. Let me know if you want to do review on a stock 08 GX470 with a mild lift.
Hit me up on Instagram! @thetopher2 actually never got a chance to drive a 470. Found one at a dealer and the front brake pads fell out in the parking lot. That was a hard no 😄
Topher - from your vids, I bought the same car this summer as my corona bug-out vehicle (12 gx 55k miles $22.5k 1 owner, base trim, some rust). I love this car man. I am turning in my lease c300 4matic today, and couldn't be happier to cast off german engineering for a little while, until i get a R Nine T. But, I never thought I would say that. Long story longer... I ended up purchasing the same wheels and f!ing 265s, not 255s. For the first time I can clearly hear you say the size, but I swear you said 265 / 65s in another video... anywho, my tires rub like a fat kids legs on a hot metal slide. Especially when turning in reverse, I have to do 6-point Y-turns. I feel like i'm 16, driving with an unknown turning radius and frequently hold up traffic when circling to park. Could you advise what I can, and cannot sawzaw / dremel off under the front wheels wells? Also, what is the undercoating you recommend for WI / MI winter? I am based in Madison, say Hey if you come through. thanks, and great drone shots.
Take a heat gun to that fender liner and shape it back a bit, that’ll do it for you! And thanks man, 265s look a bit better too, so you did well! Undercoating is Krown rust control, if there aren’t any specific Krown locations near you sometimes line-x shops will spray it on. Protects from the inside out, about $130/year to do
There’s a lot to do up there! Everything we did here was pretty tame, high rock bay being the most intense at the end. But honesty, just regular crossovers were getting through it fine. Marquette and the pictured rocks area were fantastic spots to spend a few nights. No black flies, lots to do out there. High rock bay we only lasted a night with the flies, it just wasn’t fun. And the girls missed civilization (ok mike and I did a bit too lol).
Hey There great vid! Just stumbled upon your channel. I'm looking to replace my 2003 Montero in Feb/March 2021 and I've been looking at a few options and the GX460 has just popped on my radar. The Land Cruiser is tooooo $$ for me, the 4 runner I find doesn't have that Lux I like I mean why pay 40-50k and barely have the option of heated leather seats I think over hyped in this current market esp used. I'm also considering a Land Rover LR4 or Discovery and now the Lexus LX460. I like the V8 option and the aftermarket parts such as Roof rack and other bits. Seems like you have logged some miles on the truck. Whats your experience with it? I'm going to maybe be looking at a CPO 17' to 19' and will have some money left over for of road mods. I already have a RTT so at least a roof rack to start.
Would love to someday! Need to make it back out to Telluride asap. We were talking about a CO trip, but with everything going on will probably have to wait a year or so
I run a 265/60 18, and it will hit the screws in the front under compression, when turning, but its infrequent. Thats an inch bigger than stock (31.5") Topher is running a 31.2" tire.
If you refuel before you cross the bridge, the roads north of the bridge are 55mph, and sometimes 45mph. You get pretty good mileage. Going across Nebraska, with the cruise set at 95mph, I got 14mpg, which I thought was pretty good. I have a 2014 GX also
Such a great trip buddy. Really appreciated you guys joining us and all the awesome places we went. Oh and my GX is a 2015 :)
The UP is one of the most beautiful parts of the country. It’s one of the biggest reasons I miss living in Michigan.
When she's says "Your so handsome". 👁️👄👁️
The G6 behind really passed the vibe check tho
Lmao

An unprecedented look into the life of the TOPHER im so grateful haha feel like your my homie after all these years
These are the real hidden gem videos of this channel. Shame nobody comes to these
Looks like a great time! Beautiful views and really well shot. Always nice to see people using these Lexus' for what they were built for. Crazy that all they need is a set of tires to tackle these trails with ease.
The U.P is probably one of the most beautiful places in the country. Absolutely love it up there.
this makes me happy and calm the scenery and the woods, love seeing y’all using these vehicles the way they were intended to be used
Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Please do more of these off-roading videos if possible.

Next video: Overlanding Pontiac G6's in Michigan's Upper Peninsula
We need this

Always good to connect with nature once again...lovely video Chris
Greetings from Northport, tip of the pinky. The drive to Crisp Point is a blast! Great video.

Props to that G6 guy what a savage lol. Would love to do some driving like this some day, UP looks gorgeous.

Wow, looks beautiful there! Will have to check it out someday, only live a few hundred miles away.
What a fantastic video. Thank you for posting. I love my GX460

Tophers reviews are why I got into the GX series. 2008 GX470 here. 191,000 miles now. 19,000 in 9 months great vehicle!
That GX is capable of soooooo much more without even breaking a sweat. Take it to a off-road park and have a go. You’ll be pleased with how easy it is to do some impressive feats of off-road goodness
Wow that water looks super clear!!!
Wonderful road wow. California couldn't find like it. Wow and gx460 wonderful monster truck also.

Love these vlog type videos
Live in Michigan, Grand Rapids. Love your videos!
First time seeing a Lexus off the road. Nice one.
We got lost trying to find Starbucks
Wow 🤩 what a wonderful beautiful views makes me feel Like I was there as well thank you 😊
My mom had 2 GX 460’s...great cars. We took the 2015 to the UP a few times, one of which we broke the skid plate off the car
"flexin' out on those ruts and stuff..." I do applaud your enthusiasm for driving on those groomed dirt roads...
😂it’s all we’ve got here in MI!
Nice! Looks like fun.
Michigan looks pretty damn nice never considered moving there over Denver but nice vlog man.
I enjoyed the offroad POV. Nice work. 😎
If you were going to “knock on wood” there was wood on your steering wheel @thetopher 12:44

My GX gets about 24 on the highway and I love it

GX460 is da life!!

Please don't knock the Pontiac Vibe, it is the very poor distant #cousin of the GX. BTW the highway mpg was amazing.
(Pontiac Vibe) Just leave it there- Jinx! You and I said that phrase at the same time! Lol
This makes me want a GX460 over an LX570 or the 200 series landcruiser, it’s smaller and would fit better on trails and maneuver better.
I’ve been to the UP many times. Where is that narrow bridge? I’d love to see that in person.

Living the life
Beautiful! I'm looking to vacation in the same area, Upper Peninsula. Any specific easy trails you recommend? Love your vids man

Nice shades
I loved it!💞
Giggle @ 4low. Nice scenery tho.
Question... what Max speed can you go up to in 4low
I was there like 3 weeks ago
It was beautiful
Good times. Do you have to change gearing with different tires?
If you’re going really big, 34” plus I would but 33s and under should be ok
Yur inlove with this GX
Have you done much towing with the GX? Looking to get one to do the occasional RV pulling (around 4500lbs dry). Wondering how it would handle?
ckworks none. But, I will be towing with it for the first time next week 👍 I hear they do great, especially with the air suspension

Thinking of doing any overlanding in the rockies?
Would love to someday! Need to make it back out to Telluride asap. We were talking about a CO trip, but with everything going on will probably have to wait a year or so
Woah bro. How did you switch to 3rd person cam.
Weird question but how old are you man?
31
TheTopher well you can certainly pass for 25! Look great man
26mpg on highway :o what mpg you got off road?
Loved this more intimate video from you all while showing your jeep's capabilities.
Where is this park at? I would love to go.
Is that the trail out of copper harbor? I was stuck there in July
Awesome , really thinking trading my 13 x5 for Lexus gx
Thanks for the video. Awesome work! Any rubbing on the 255 70 17 tires? I have a 2016 and am looking to upgrade
Very rarely I get a rub on the fender liner bolt, need to push it back a little with a heat gun.
I run a 265/60 18, and it will hit the screws in the front under compression, when turning, but its infrequent. Thats an inch bigger than stock (31.5") Topher is running a 31.2" tire.
wow why temp gauge is on 50% ?!
As much as I want a real body-on-frame SUV, I think an Outback would probably be able to handle that and would be easier for me as a short guy
Sick
Nice vid
Awesome! Putting the GX to good use. My GX probably will never even see trails like this 😂. What size tires are you and the red GX running?
I legit was just gonna ask this.
Pls reply I love your vids
Thanks man!
TheTopher I hope you have an awesome day stay safe
My driveway in Colorado is more gnarly than this, but I guess if you slap a RTT on anycar people call it overlanding these days.
dat G6 tho lmao
I never knew you had a face!
20+ MPG? My Lexus IS could never.
If you refuel before you cross the bridge, the roads north of the bridge are 55mph, and sometimes 45mph. You get pretty good mileage. Going across Nebraska, with the cruise set at 95mph, I got 14mpg, which I thought was pretty good. I have a 2014 GX also
Nice seiko
Too bad you sold it 😢
Eh, I might get another one someday. Would love to pickup a 2022+ once they depreciate
@@TheTopher good decision!!!
Me: Is that his FACE?
Cute
We don't see you much. We hear you alot though just don't see your face and that is a good change
Sup
Hi first
First
wtf you are cute too.
