Threats & Tats: Afghanistan’s ‘Forbidden’ Tattoo Artist | Under the Ink
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- For the past 3 years, Soraya has been running her mobile tattoo studio in Kabul. She doesn’t keep her shop’s address fixed due to security reasons, because her job can be a dangerous one in Afghanistan. Though tattoos are not foreign to Afghan culture, ink-on-skin artists like Soraya can easily land in trouble with the dormant Taliban, with their fundamentalist interpretation of the Sharia law. Touching and tattooing male clients is an added taboo for her as she makes her way as the first female tattoo artist in the country.

You think this woman is a beast. Here in Afghanistan that is very offensive. Yes I understand what you mean but I think words should mean what they were originally intended for.

More like Stupid Playing with Fire one day she will lose her head over a tattoo not too bright. Don't blame the Talibans if that Happens blame U.S for Creating The Talibans Back in Soviet Invasion....
Afghanistan used to be a very liberal country until the Talibans took over during the Cold War. Who engineered and funded the Taliban "freedom fighters"? You know it.
@Speak Truth nope. its all about intepretation. the intepretation changes along with the times. whenever muslims society facing political and economic collapse, they always revert to islamic fundamentalism to cope with their problems. which is the reason why fundamentalists like the Talibans, Khomeini and ISIS gaining popularity. islamic fundamentalism is a modern phenomenon. Its a reaction to political void.
Not really maybe Kabul was liberal but Afghanistan been the same for hundreds of years.
@Speak Truth lol you should read a verse where Muhammad said who ever it is in his community whether hes an jew or christian they must be also protected....
@Speak Truth you are a very dumb person our prophet pbuh, converted empires without the use of violence. Please, before you act all enlightened with your ignorance do some research because that is not our religion.
@Speak Truth If you'd like I can talk to you on Skype and I might even be able to change your perspective because people who kill in the name of Islam, are not real Muslims themselves.
Great to get these insights into countries we usually just hear of because of violence and war rather than culture and people.
