I must have heard this covered a hundred times. This is the only interesting cover i heard where someone made it absolutely their own story to tell.. fantastic stuff! She is unique, without doubt.
I have loved her music from the beginning...this cover is absolutely immaculate. Only Rickie could have imagined such an arrangement. It is absolutely astounding.
... saw the Stones in 1972 & never thought, EVER, anyone could come close to Jagger & company on this song .... I was in error .... RLJ is awesome, and has always been, and now, I "have seen the light ! " .............
As a Rolling Stones Freak since day one, having seen the Rolling Stones more times than I can remember, I can honestly say that Rickie Lee Jones NAILED IT! I absolutely love her interpretation.
To Shamrock McManus and all others who posted a positive reaction to this version of the song: RIGHT ON!!! Rickie turns it inside out and it is a stunning version.
The folks that don't like this, are the same people who see a Bob Dylan show and say "Why can't he play the songs the way they were recorded" No shame, just a very rigid imagination. I think Mick and Keith would approve! Speaking of the Glimmer Twins, they just set the bar a little higher by releasing a new effort in a week "Hackney Diamonds" at 80 and 79 years of age! "May God bless and keep them always"
As Rickie has always been one of my favorite artist since her major debut, I got used to listen to her many beautiful cover songs so far. I can proudly guarantee this is one of her greatest cover works ever. Her sticky voice looks like calling of real DEVIL or BEAST. And It's unnecessary to say that I've got this album !!
RLJ is it. a true artist. she is expression. everything I want to teach my daughter about reality and what is and what is possible. I am thankful for Rickie Lee
This is amazing. I saw her perform at the MIM in Scottsdale last month and she sang this song last. I'd waited to hear her sing live since 1979 and trust me it was well worth the wait. She's an unbelievable artist who sings with so much soul and honesty.
I think the mark of genius is exactly when it divides people's opinions so. Only blandness cold be unanimously "liked" (ie. "it's nice"-no more odious and inane word could be used for art).
Ooh, I would have loved to see that a capella performance of "Company"! She just oozes cool, doesn't she? Hats off to you for seeing her performances...! :)
Damn Rickie I never thought anybody could own that song better than Jagger but baby baby you sure as hell OWN it, outtasight. Im 69 and we go back, way back, through all that smack, blow, booze et al, though we never met in person but how i wish we had, now Im clean and sober since in the 80s but still love ya like I did way back then. You look as beautiful today as you did decades ago.

She's good, but sometimes it is almost better to play the original song like that similar to The Stones. Because you'll always sound like yourself, she has a great voice. That song needs to move a bit, in my opinion. I write my own songs and usually just do covers with my vocal, style & it changes it enough. I like her a lot, but this is just over effort, to change a great song. She could have done by just with her awesome voice, this lady can sing, & I ain't Chucky, but I am still in love ! Peace, M.A.
While I really like RLJ, she just sounds way too loaded for her own good, not to mention this great son. Be sober, and the song comes across as powerful as it deserves.
It's a great song and RLJ has made another great version. What a talent she is.
She talks about this cover on the Marc Maron podcast
@@janswart2705 Thank you!!!
I don’t often like “covers” but this is not a cover it is an interpretation and very well done.
One of my favorite songs of all time, although I must say her rendition of it really gives me some chills.
... saw the Stones in 1972 & never thought, EVER, anyone could come close to Jagger & company on this song ....
Wow that was awsome!!! Ricky is amazing. She owned that song. She made it hers. Not many artists can completely recreate a song that way.
To Shamrock McManus and all others who posted a positive reaction to this version of the song: RIGHT ON!!! Rickie turns it inside out and it is a stunning version.
further proof that the stones camttt b covered
The folks that don't like this, are the same people who see a Bob Dylan show and say "Why can't he play the songs the way they were recorded" No shame, just a very rigid imagination. Shiver me timbers, Rickie Lee.
RLJ nails this in her own spirit....articulate vocalizations.....a la RLJ!! that song will never be sung the same...many tried...
Articulate? You have to be kidding!
Fan des Stones depuis toujours, j'adore cette version !
Merci pour le partage 👍💫😉
Spectacular Rickie. You are an original baby girl.
Best cover I've seen.
Not many have sang this song but Rickie Lee has it down cold. She's amazing.
Damned perfect! Best cover of a mainstream song ever. Thank you Rickie.
RLJ is it. a true artist. she is expression. everything I want to teach my daughter about reality and what is and what is possible. I am thankful for Rickie Lee
Really? Your poor daughter!
Phenomenal. I'll never be able to hear this song the traditional way again. Very haunting and so very, very good.
I saw her perform this at the Autism Speaks benefit and it blew my mind. It was fantastic.
WHAT A STORY TELLER !
just. wow. i understand something i never understood before. that's just what a great artist does.
This is amazing. I saw her perform at the MIM in Scottsdale last month and she sang this song last. I'd waited to hear her sing live since 1979 and trust me it was well worth the wait. She's an unbelievable artist who sings with so much soul and honesty.
The Duchess of Coolsville.
Magic! Rickie Lee shines on!
This gives me goose bumps.
Fabulous! Can't wait to see her soon!
Probably the best artistic interpretation of an existing work i have ever heard. Thanks Rickie.......Very, very Cool. Dan
JFKjr's fave song, did you notice it was played at Trumps Rallies ... wild you have done this cover ... this is a soulful version ! Fantastic !
Holy crap. I thought Jagger was the perfect Lucifer, but she comes closer than anyone else.
Absolutely Fantastic, Thank you ❤
What a beautiful rendition! 213.355 ppl. have watched this 'till now. 843 times thumbs up. We are DOOMED! Fucked up! What is the matter with mankind?
This is sheer genius
She sounds much more like she was actually there than Rolling Stones. Whew! What a version this is. I'd swear she was right there.
Great rendition of this song. Made my day a whole bunch better! Thanks!
The Angel has some notes that nobody else has. Love u Riickie. xxx
YES! ".... that nobody else has." YES, that's because she is out of tune!

Haunting .......Great job....

Holy shit Rickie you go! puts Mick to the test....
She is my very favorite! Nothing but love for her...
Rock On RICKIE!!!

Definitely on the fence on this one, the song has tremendous moments for sure, she is way cool.

Ooh, I would have loved to see that a capella performance of "Company"! She just oozes cool, doesn't she? Hats off to you for seeing her performances...! :)
I pray for you. I'll never stop loving you,(we go back to Troubadour & Dan Tanas) kindred spirits with different masters.

Amazing
wow - what a talent.
I hear.. Loudon Wainwright III.
after all it was you ..........and me !
I love The Stones and this song but Rickie lends this song the sly menace it deserves.
Awesome
" What does God require of you, O man,
but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." Micah 6: 6-8

In concert she says “I love the Beatles...But I can play The Rolling Stones”
Dead right; she can't play thew Stones although that has not much in it to commend her if she could.
You are the sound track of my life
Shes good but shes different...you have to like her or leave her....She does this crazy good ...spooky...I dont really know anyone like her .....
