After you hear Chris Scruggs nail pretty much any country style on guitar here, remember that he is also a world-class lap steel player and got a little gig as well with pretty much THE best country band working today: Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives. And he is the BASS PLAYER there. 'Nuff said. There is talent and then there is Chris Scruggs!

I bet you can't ask Chris a trick question and him not know the correct awnser, An amazing player and great historian. Chris' knowledge of the Southern and Central California country (and western) music scene in the 1940s through 1960s period is impressive. I grew up there at that time and every Friday night was live music night in our family. My father was a "hillbilly DJ" (as they were called in those days) in the 40s and that's how he met my mother. From the Maddox Brothers and Rose to guitar giants like Merle Travis and Joe Maphis, Chris seems to know them all. Pretty surprising for a Tennessee boy. Now we just need him to do a segment on the Fender steel guitars. Like Chris and Kayton Roberts, I'm a Dual Pro player, but I make room for the Stringmasters as well.
