🥰 I love the way you speak and explain things. Chrystal clear, very natural voice an professional!
I dunno why I love the guitar, probably my sister Beryl, who is voice coach and musician extraordinarily dedicated. Really patient for she know you gotta wanna learn! Thanks for your perfect practice make perfect skills!
This sounds soooo amazing, I cannot even imagine how it sounds LIVE.
I'll say it again. You've gotta do some voice acting work or get a gig reading audio books (especially for kids). I could listen to you talk all day. You've got an absolutely fabulous, melodious speaking voice.
Love it, although not a guitar player I really like its warm tone. It also sounds amazing when you played it unplugged. Seems to go well with your fingered playing style too. Take care.
My wish, please play these guitar for an hour in a new video! You and the guitar are a great team which sounds heavenly!

Thank you so much for this video!
I'll recommend this to my friends who perform live and tour regionally or nationally here in the US. I'm still struggling between the Lava Me 2 and 3 in the 36" size so I can take it camping with me or travel and practice. I love the simplicity of the 2, but the practice features on the 3 are really useful so as to not need a phone or tablet to get a metronome, tuner or looper.
Tried out one of the lava guitars a while back, now that has become my dream acoustic-electric
I'm definitely thinking about buying one of those (especially the Ukulele). They have great sound and the possibilities with the switches are awesome! I just wish the colors were a bit different...
took mine this week, couldnt be happier
bought a composite acoustics carbon siber guitar a few years ago. One of the best guitars I've ever heard. It'll probably be the last standard steel string guitar I ever buy.
I watched some of your videos before but this is the first time I've heard you sing. Your voice is amazing!
you have a very distinctive voice when you sing. it tells me that singing is in your dna. plus you play guitar well. i love it
Oh my god that sounds fantastic. If I can hear that in a UA-cam video I can imagine what it sounds like in person.
Just bought it. It was what I wanted for Christmas last year. But of course nobody would buy me a 1400 dollar guitar. I just picked one up for 900. Totally brand new. In fact if someone wants to buy the travel guitar and lives in Los Angeles I can turn you onto the guy. He's got one to sell for 400. He sold me the LAVA U Ukelele for 110 dollar. That one is f*cking amazing because the "space case" it comes in is worth 110 dollars all by itself. It looks like the sleep chambers in the movie Alien. And opens in a really bizarre way. Sorry he doesn't have another Uke or Pro
The combination of that guitar with your touch is absolutely brilliant. Goosies 100%.
It's supposed to be for stage performance but seems to sound like a complete guitar studio all by itself, out of the box?
Yeah... Gåshud 100%
I bought the smaller Lava Me 2 last year because I do a lot of outdoor acoustic-electric gigs (pre-pandemic and hopefully soon again), and the weather in England is brutal on my Taylors and Ovations. The Lava Me 2 was a shocking surprise - it’s sounds bigger and plays better than I would’ve imagined. I’m using it indoors, too. Didn’t know about the Pro until I stumbled onto your video - well presented, fair points. It took me a long time to go from wood to lyrachord (Ovation), and another long time to partake of carbon fibre, but I’m opening up to everything these days. Whatever next?!
Very well!!! Thanks.
You know you like mary's music when you recognized her song when she's doing the demo
That's got to be the coolest looking acoustic guitar ever. Sound great as well.
It sounds great. I had a deep bowl Ovation that played similarly to that (sans effects) and I loved it until someone close to me borrowed it and "lost it". Shock! I have been a fan of using carbon fiber, but I prefer natural wood. Mary, you are a natural.
Hi Mary, love all the content of this channel, your personality atracts as a magnet!! I loved the lyrics of the song you were playing!!!
Sounds like the guitar has a natural chorus effect. The bass on that thing is heavy! Sounds fantastic and I'm a cork sniffer when it comes to acoustic guitar tone.
Yeah I really like the tone for something different than usual. Pretty cool!
I think I'm just a smooth brained boi, but what the hell is a cork sniffer?
@@henrys.6333 He meant he is a snob.
@@henrys.6333 cork sniffer is a reference usually made by wine connoisseurs and phonetics. Essentially means I'm an acoustic guitar snob basically

Beautiful guitar by the way. It sounds sensational. Beautifully player.
i am just watching this because the tunes you play are just so soothing and amazing
It sounds so great! Love the clear sound.
Your videos always inspire me to play. Thanks for sharing.
Curved back:
Like an Ovation guitar, except without gluing wood to plastic, which eventually splits apart.
sounds very similar to each other...in my opinion.
yeah, but you can always just glue them back together, so no big deal really.
I used to own an Ovation. Sold it six months later, it has no life, doesn't produce any vibration to your body. I like to FEEL the energy transmitted by my guitar, that's part of the music. I couldn't be more happy with my D28.
I have had an Ovation Guitar for 35 years and never had a problem with the body splitting in deforming in any way! It's been all over the world and still looks and plays great! I have had angels play with me as I was playing it...It was dedicated to God's missionary work when I first got it...that's why the Angels were playing with me...I need this guitar...pray that I can get one!
@@survivalhealthandhealingtv5651 Some people just like to sound like they know something. It was good enuff for Glen CAmpbell. I have an Ovation Madolin. SOunds and plays great. I think this Lava is wunnerful. I have the other one. But now Im spoiled, I gotta have this one too.
Your accent is so serene and calming.....!!!
Lol
VERY cool Mary, you are a gifted player as well. Many thanks
That is an incredible sound! Your play is amazing! I wish to play like you!😊
Visually, it takes a little getting used to, but sweet Jesus, it sounds gorgeous. Give me a little accoustic Sultans of Swing on that baby, and the world will become a better place for a few minutes.
actually, I like the look of it. I think in the future there will a shift in guitar designs because of carbon fiber's nature.
9:57 Mary has spent so much time playing she's now one with her guitar
lmao
I have a CA Legacy Carbon Fiber guitar that I bought 16 years ago. It has been truly remarkable as far as durability. I keep it in the trunk of my car year round (Houston, TX) and it stays in tune very well. I also have some traditional wood acoustics (Taylor, Martin, Guild) but the Legacy is right there with them tone wise. Mine does have an ebony fret board but that's the only wood on the guitar. I would wholeheartedly encourage others to give carbon fiber a shot.
thank you!!!! for sharing your valuable inputs :)
I first bought the Lava Me 2 (after seeing Mary's first video), but returned it because it was too small. Then bought this Lava Me Pro, and also returned it. The curved back is just too slippy. That guitar just wants to slide off your lap. Also, given the price (about $1500 with tax USD), the headstock should be nicer. There were some quality control issues on the fretboard as well. Lava Music has PHENOMENAL support. They really want their customers to be happy. If Lava Music made a full size acoustic with the body of the Lava Me 2 and the features/sound of the Lava Me Pro, they'd really have something special.
I have a Martin HD-28, a Taylor 414ce Special Edition, and a Martin Cowboy X. Neither of the Lava guitars sound as good. They sound like the new Martin X series but with built-in effects capabilities. So...$800-1500 for a guitar that sounds like $500-600, but with built-in effects and looks awesome.
Can you give me the old acoustic guitars you no longer use? I'm a fingerstyle guitarist and don't have a decent guitar.

I started playing a carbon fibre cello fifteen years ago: marvellous. And much more robust than the wooden version.
Yeah it has a unique sound but I still stick to my wooden one. Partially cause it was expensive and I don’t feel like buying another one.

I was really digging some of your rifts there hon! Left me wanting more for sure!
Sounds *quite* different from my Carbon-graphite Jumbo Rainsong.
The guitar looks funny, but sounds awesome. Sorta reminds me of an Ovation with the rounded back
Almost looks like an Ovation hybrid with that rounded back.
Called turtle back guitars ;)
That's the first thing I thought when I saw it
I was thinking the same thing about the Ovation comparison. I always found them awkward to play. but liked the sound.
@@journeyofawesome8473 me too! I actually sold mine because I couldn't stand it anymore but if someone else in my house played it I would've been fine to just listen to them play it because yeah like you I liked the rich bass notes it had and overall warm tone (in comparison to my other more bright sounding acoustic) 😂
I did buy the LAVA ME Pro almost entirely on my excitement about this review. My longing lasted for about a year and didn't expect it to happen. But a new guitar became available in 2021 on Offer Up and fortunately I had the thousand dollars to spend. I really do love it. I find the chorus a little hard to discern. But the delay is certainly there. It gets a little attention for its unusual looks. I signed up for Jamplay and for the first time In my life I seem to be moving up the neck in my very beginnery lessons. A perfect guitar for me to get excited about playing again. I enjoy having something truly unique. I don't know where it falls in the realm of other great guitars. But what makes a great guitar great is usually the player behind it.
Absolutely in love with this guitar, awesome video about it, appreciate it a million for sharing with us. I already bought the Gold Pro, is coming in February. Can't wait to have it in my hand. Thank you Mary again for showing the features of this one. BIG BIG LIKE!!! Cheers Jorge
The sounds reminds me of my old Ovation guitar ..
No trees were harmed in the making of this guitar.
Thanks for the great review of this Guitar. It's inspiring to hear you play and the sound of this guitar puts a spell on me.... I think, this got me back into playin...
Good review. Thank you
Once all the trees have gone, in 500 years, I think this guitar will catch on.
I am in love with my lava me 2.... I had such high hopes for this guitar. I couldn't wait for a full sized version of my travel guitar. Then, when I saw the back, immediately it was a no. Its like an ovation and I hate chasing it all over the place..... as for losing picks, the travel version ejects them immediately with the honeycomb structure under the top. I think the travel is incredible. This one, I have to wait for v2.0 with a cutaway and a more traditional body to sit in my lap. 99% of guitar players practice on their laps. But anyway, thank you for your review of the iPhone of guitars. My wife got it for me for Xmas and already the Matt finish is glossy from my pinky finger bracing while I'm playing. It's an amazing guitar for me. Lava Me 2. Ya can't go wrong with one of them!!!
Hey, really loved to see this comment as in deciding between the two. You recommend the 'Me 2' with the FREEBOOST? rather than the Pro?
@@danoshea1156 the me2 doesn't have a bowl shaped back. If they made a me2pro ide own it. But since the pro is like an ovation, I hate chasing them all over my lap when trying to just practice with a bowl shaped back. I was so wishing they did a full size me2, but they didn't I kovvve my me2

Greetings!
Congratulations for your new guitar!
Stay blessed!
Possibly /the/ acoustic guitar I'd pick for the rest of my life. Wonderful sound! Incredibly economic in the long run, since carbon fiber doesn't need much maintenance to begin with, and if there's really no need for a pedalboard in whatever gigs you'd go to because it has its own custom voicing pickup for natural-sounding effects (and man, that turbo lights up a room!), it's also a save in time and money with equipment transportation.
I see it truly shining in closed room venues, where you'd otherwise need an amp or a PA to get by; there'd still be the issue of miking your voice, but that's another story.
Amazing guitar. Its like a tonewood amp basically built in.
Awesome sound, but you definetly can see Apple's influence with the "stable pad" you must use and the "modifications" needed for a regular strap to fit. If only the price was more affordable, Lava would definetly be competing with traditional brands on acoustic guitars, because this carbon fiber thing and the built in effects are game changing.
love your style and the guitar sounds great !
The guitar sounds wonderful; but I've discovered your playing via searching for a new guitar on UA-cam, and that's actually the best take-away here. subscribed.
Sounds really nice! but I can't stand rounded back guitars a personal thing I know but they just bug me constantly sliding off your lap.
Your not wrong, thought it was just me
Use a knee grip and it wont slide.
Just glue some sandpaper in small area on bottom edge, no big deal.
@@airgliderz Yes I just saw an Australian player who simply applied either black sandpaper or that rubber stair tread material and says it now stays firmly on his lap. I have a recommendation to people who want to apply a sticker to a nice finish. I needed to apply a metal plate to my IPAD Pro so it could stick to a magnetic holder. The Ipad pro also costs about 1400. So I didn't want to screw up the finish which could prevent me trading in or reselling it. Simply apply 3M Blue masking tape first, It removes easily with no residue but clings like a son of a bitch. It won't come off until you want it to. Then apply your choice of rough anti slip material to the tape. Keep your guitar like new..
That opening bit was very Michael Hedges!
Very nice guitar. Keep up your playing
The guitar sounds amazing, and you play a tune of angels. You're just amazing
Hi! The sound of this guitar is great. I fell in love with a few sounds that you played beautifully. Bored with the music that I hear every day, these few sounds captivated me. I would be grateful for the titles you played in 2:57 and 3:48. Are these your compositions? I tried to find them, but to no avail. Greetings from Poland! :-)
Definitely seems geared mostly towards fingerstyle. Curious how it plays with a Flatpicked, Bluegrass based approach?
The only thing about a "Bluegrass" approach is that only traditional strictly acoustic instruments are allowed in Bluegrass competition; and many Bluegrass fans and critics don't consider you to be a "real" Bluegrass band or performer if electric or electrified instruments are used. I'm afraid that a carbon fiber guitar with special effects built in will not "cut the mustard" in most Bluegrass circles. On the other hand, Country music, and Folk music are more lenient and forgiving.
It would be interesting, though, to hear this guitar performing Bluegrass, Country, and Folk music. I mean, an electric bass sounds amazing with all three genres. I would like to hear it in action in these genres just in the interest of fairness and open-mindedness.

I don’t know if it’s the guitar or your amp set up or how hard you hit the strings. Sounds so crisp!
It's primarily the guitar itself is designed to give a good, clean, crisp tone. Just like Ovation, with their guitars, and also their Applause line of guitars. They have the exact same crisp sound, engineered with the same carbon technology. I'm sure that the electronics on this guitar here are good quality too.

"purposeful frequency" ? My engineer brain failed to parse that as anything real. I like my rainsong though and this looks nicer.

If Apple made guitars. . . after the OS update, the guitar will only work with Apple 9 gauge strings, Apple branded amps and Apple branded picks. Otherwise, excellent sounding piece of epoxy. Also, you will need to make an appointment with an Apple Genius to change the strings(for free!) or else the Chorus goes out.

That opening sounds quite close to Starsailor’s “Blood”, are you a fan? Or was that an original bit of yours?
The intro sounded at first a bit like Dave Mathews "Two Step" - so I check out Starsailor - that sounds nice!
this is what a guitar made by apple would look like 😂
exactly i was thinking it looks like iphone back front ahhaha
It's very nice. I'd be willing to own one.
However, the same exact carbon technology was made by Ovation, way back in the '80's, and they still use it today, with most of their models, on both their Ovation, and their Applause, models. I owned an Applause, it was great, because the action was outstanding! The sound on it was nearly identical to this carbon guitar, same technologies and materials, but it had a bit fuller and brighter tone, so I'd rate it one star better. The Applause is very affordable, in the $200 range, so it might be a better bargain, but this one here is very nice to have too!
I should add that Applause is one of those makes you can't get right now, have to back order, unless they're a used one (I don't recommend going for a used one, too risky, due to the neck issues.) Martin is mostly on back order too, so, for me, I'm going to buy a couple Guilds, as they are available, and I've been planning to get them, anyway, now, in April 2021. Maybe by June or July or September, all these factories will re-open, once the covidd crisis is over, and the economy rebounds. Right now, guitar companies are doing different strategies, but some are shut down completely, and you can't get certain models, or any of that company's models. So, if you want a carbon guitar right away, this one might be great one, to order, at present, for it's immediate availability.
This carbon neck type of design, can be vulnerable to necks breaking (the Applause models do), after a few years, due to design flaws in the carbon technology. This is a problem, and it happened to mine, so I bought a normal Yamaha acoustic guitar, instead (very durable.)
At the time, in the mid 1980's, the Applause necks weren''t really fixable. Now, I'm not sure what happens, with this guitar, with any potential neck repair issues, or the latest Applause or Ovations, but it's good to ask a knowledgeable guitar tech, or luthier, for their opinion on it, before committing to a purchase.
It probably could mount a gen1 iPhone in that hole.
