You don't often see investments like this in Trudeau's Canada. Kudos to Scott Moe.

It is shameful. All their personal belongings were taken to the garbage! THE GARBAGE! seriously.. They are just as human as the police that dismantled all 8 encampments.

???? Their personal belongings LOOK like garbage and ARE garbage they can’t take care of “belongings” if they are strung out on drugs. They can’t take care of themselves how can they have possessions ?! They need to go to rehab

Have you actually seen what is in these encampments?! It’s unsafe for all of them to keep going this way.

But our government and police aren’t that human, and don’t consider them as humans either!
Unfortunately, I think the homeless have more compassion and humanity in the streets than our politicians have in their mansions!
Our cops have just become pure evil. Period!

I was at the Kerby Centre talking to a group of seniors this week, and they are genuinely pissed!
Seniors that have voted Conservative in Alberta for decades are furious that Danielle Smith is ignoring the affordable housing crisis, is shoving seniors in bachelor cages in the worst neighborhoods and into homeless shelters.
Some are saying that they will vote for a new Conservative leader in the next election, others are saying that they won’t be voting Conservative unless the Conservatives start taking care of the people.
Not one of them cared about her fights with Ottawa or her defence of Big Oil/Big Business. They ALL thought she should pay half as much attention to taking care of her own citizens!
I couldn’t disagree with any of them!

Issue with the stolen bikes isn't going to change until cyclists are required by law to register & lock their bike with a U-lock or better when out of reach or site.

A key in evolving past our reliance on fossil fuels and to a Type 1 Civilization sooner, is by ensuring safe housing, clean water, healthy food, quality education, and full health care for everyone, while planning future development to be in harmony with the Earth and with each other. Each human is a universe with massive potential, but our commodified survival limits our potential. We should create a secondary safety net so most people (parents and kids) can earn a living wage from a place where they feel safe and loved, working towards an ensured basic standard of living while achieving self actualization in the process.

You've twisted the story, you reached out to me to say I've asked you and your people for a house...I don't want anything from you, but for you, an ensured basic standard of living. There would be less confusion this way, and more time to invent interesting technologies like motor vehicle exhaust systems that sound unique and pleasant to all ears. @@rally_chronicles

"Our members are dying" says chief. Let's get honest for a minute. Off reserve members are cut off federal funds the moment they step off the reserve to live elsewhere. The Feds only fund on reserve members, the chiefs only recieve funding for on reserve members. Off reserve people have to depend on the provinces funding if they've no income. They still recieve fed health benefit, and $5.00 / yr treaty annuity, education for post secondary. NO SHELTER, unlike on reserve. They pay rent off reserve for shelter and on reserve do not. The feds dictate the lives of First Nations peoples. Off reserve you get a tent for choosing to live away from gov't control. And it's no prize to live on reserve and be controlled by feds, and corrupt chiefs. The shape of some of the houses on reserve would make one want to live in a tent.

@nelliesfarm8473 no not at all, you think all the people that are struggling and paying there bills and barely making it are going to get 13 million from the government. They wake up and have to go work their asses off... you know that 13 million comes out of their pockets cause the government really doesn't have money its their money...

It's a waste to build shelters. Take that money and build 130 homes for the homeless, then they will have a home and won't need staff taking care of them. Those shelters have turned homeless people into a commodity, they use them for government funding. A shelter gets upwards of $130,000 per year to take care of 1 homeless person. For that much money you could buy them a home, they do not want that because then the big $$$ would stop coming in.

Problem with that is would they take care of these houses? These people almost need supervision for their own good. It's a great idea for the homeless that are not addicts and have a job.
