    Good video. I agree. I liked Prospect bow lift the best too. But I do appreciate the ability to hike. We hiked up and did LA Rosa. I love Telluride. It has tons of advanced terrain, which I prefer. This is hands down my favorite ski respite. Not just the skiing, but the mining history of the town and in summer I can do Black Bear Pass in my Jeep. Thanks for sharing.

    I am a local and i have a few tips. If you are a good enough skier I highly recommend finding someone that looks like they are in there 60s and wears old cloths and who’s skis are beat up. Once you have follow them to the best snow on the mountain. They may go through small double black areas with ease and out ski you in every way, but if you are up for the challenge they will always go to the best snow. And you dont need to be afraid to ask someone who looks like a local for directions to find good powdery snow here. We do realize that the reason we have a free gondola is because of tourists so 90% of us are glad to show you around. Oh and if you find a kid around 15 with a green jacket and blue DPS ski’s that’s probably me so say hi if you see me.

    I’m certainly looking for different run types than you were, but the terrain at Telluride is top class for me. I also like that most zones were ability separated, it keeps the experts from flying through beginner areas.

    Go Alley -
    Allais (ah lay) is a form of the French verb “to go”.
    Allais Alley is said “ah lay ah lee.”
    You might hear some say, “allais allais” meaning “go go” in encouragement of a bicycle racer at the Tour de France.

    going there next weekend! just got a lot of snow so i cant wait to get there. too bad i see temps in the 40s after the storm.... also, tip to getting around the mountain quickly: go up chair 9, then instead of turning right, turn left. then go down woozlys way which sadly is always kind of icy, but you can get to chair 5, prospect bowl, etc. i have to agree with the statement about misty maiden. it is definitely the best run on the mountain.
    edit: they are replacing chair 9 with a high speed this summer. its one of the best areas of the resort when they have good snow, so that's where i would recommend. also chair 5 is very good too. i would recommend chair 12 the most though

    This was an amazing video. I would love to see a video of this detail and candidness for every ski mountain out there. Definitely give it a 9.0 out of 10. This took a lot of editing I know because I've done videos like this. Few cuts get it under 25 minutes and it would have been a 10 out of 10. But in all honesty, again, excellent video! We are going to be there in a couple weeks and I feel like I have 80% of what I need to be successful on the mountain now.

    Wow, Telluride is where I learned to ski in the 70's. Haven't been there since about 1980. Talk about different. I thought I wanted to go back and see it some day. I don't think so. The base area is now depressing. It was only a parking lot back then, with a little lodge to get your tickets and leave your lunch bags by the windows in the cafeteria to come back and eat later. Oh well. I think there were seven lifts back then. Named 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7! Food was available on the mountain. You could buy baloney sandwiches, a bag of chips and a can of coke at the bottom of 5(?) chair. Loved that place.

    About tellurides town- the government won’t let them expand because of toxic waste from decades of mining there, which created the need for “offset ponds” or something? Basically massive zones on each side of the town which all the toxic waste is breaking down in. Hopefully someday it’ll be safe enough to expand.

      Let me help. The open space was slated for over-development to a degree that would overwhelm the area's drinking water and waste water capacity, and would pollute the canyon. The local population voted to condemn the land and place into a conservation easement. The land was valued. The money was raised, and as a result, the wetlands are being restored. The local wildlife are the neighbors.

    • @notavailablenotavailable7429
      @notavailablenotavailable7429 Рік тому

      Well yes and no. The mines created massive tailings piles and did pollute the water but with the use of around 6 big settling ponds under the water fall the water comes out clean the real reason they cant expand is much more simple
      Its a box canyon with cliffs on 4 sides there is more space but the town bought this area right next to the town we call it the valley floor and the town keeps it as a sort of wildlife preservation area i could go into the history of them buying it for 50 million a long time ago but it would take to long

    • @notavailablenotavailable7429
      @notavailablenotavailable7429 Рік тому

      @@chrissmith6675the valley floor is actually very natural as is but they did have to remove a few things. 1 a small tailings pile that was turned into a kind of bike jump park that me and my friends used go to and they had to also make the river more winding because apparently it was straightened years ago

    • @daneg
      @daneg 5 місяців тому

      there's plenty of video evidence for an almost unending line of extreme skiers hiking all the way to the top of palmyra, but it's a 2.5 hour hike up a near vertical ascend wearing ski boots and carrying gear on your back. I would say he's close when he puts the population at around a fraction of 1% percent of people who ski/board. but it's definitely not empty. it's not even out of bounds. and it has a ski patrol dude at the top. and if you did it as a percent of ppl who go to telluride? well...iunno. 10%-20%? maybe more? the mountain is really an advanced and expert destination. I cannot imagine ppl flying across country to do intermediate and beginner runs they could get at any local resort in any area in north america. 😄

    If you are going back into town I recommend going down T Trail and before the first switch back you will see a mogul run going straight down the side of the mountain take that it is a great double black that never sees the sun so it is always soft because it doesn’t go through the freeze thaw process and off to the sides in the woods there are a few cliffs ranging from 10 to 20 feet so small but still good if you like cliffs as much ad me

This is mostly superview fov as wide as it can go. And I believe I also had the max camera lens mod on here to increase it even further. But the key is really as much stabilization as you can get. I wouldn't call it easy. Karthik preferred the same as you at the time and we definitely took our time moving down it with him. Maybe if there's more snow it would even out but it was patchy for us and that strong wind removed most of the loose snow. The plus side is that this area is so big that you could make truly massive switchback turns if you don't mind touching the moguls. It doesn't have to be steep if you don't want it to be. So I think you could make it down but I'm not sure if you'd really enjoy the area.

    Im a local and i want to tell all tourists to please stay off dynamo, millions and electra. Unless you are a accomplished skier these runs are not hard but they are intimidating.

    NFC chips have been in office building turnstiles and door access readers for a QUARTER OF A CENTURY. If you can't wand or gate scan your skiers, you are clownish joke of an operation. WTF is the deal with Telluride?
