I am the coordinator of US organisation in Africa . Last month, together with some volunteers from the US, we were compelled by the Kenyan police in Awendo, migori to pay them $100 dollars so that we can move free in A Tanzanian van despite the fact that we were permitted by the KRA to use the said van. In kenya, so long as you can bribe , nobody can stop you even if you have a nuclear bomb to destroy the whole country. There is no aota of patriotism among kenyans. The American volunteers were amazed with the kind of cops Kenya have. Police is a thorn in the flesh of Kenyans
So unfortunate. This is not an excuse but, the police are intentionally underpaid and mistreated so as to be able to bend/stoop that low. No livable wages, no protection, etc. This is an institution that is in place as disguise for security which is the last thing in their mind at all anyway.
We've talked about corruption for over 40 years in Kenya, on social media, TV stations, in parliament, in bars, during campaigns, in every forum I can remember but THAT'S ALL WE DO, then we go back to our zones and the talks continues every year. We need to STOP and change the constitution to capital punishment and done live for deterrent to everyone. Another problem is the citizens, 90% of those they elected are known thieves including the current president.
We need arestructing of our court system. the system should ban bails . let people go to jail for corruption. freeze their assets, let them serve 20 years in jail and hardship. until we go this way, we will still see more mega scandals of corruption and people will still walk free Ruto and his cartels are not ready to fight corruption. We lack unaccountability.
EACC has no businress lecturing us on corruption when they have refused to investigate the registrar of companies on the the corruption affecting Gusii mwalimu investment co ltd, the CEO EACC has refused to deal with the issue of the company despite full report at intergrity centre,just PR
..honestly, do we understand that this goes global? Our dirty linen. Now we have a corruption contest 😂😂😂😂...you will never see this kind of news made global with western economies! Actions against corruption should be so swift and horrendous that they would be scary to even report! But for us, a contest and an ever going discussion.
