- This footage was captured around Sai Ying Pun, one of my favourite districts on Hong Kong Island. Some clear spring weather late April provided an opportunity to capture afternoon light streaming down various back streets and Des Voeux Road where the trams operate.
Canon 24-105 f4 L, Sigma 70-200 f2.8, c-log graded with ColorFinale Pro 2 in FCPX
2013 model camera. 10 years later, this camera is still relevant.
I used mine until 2022 and went to a Canon 1DX MK III ......and now I miss my 1D-C ......
Interesting how a 9 YEAR OLD CAMERA, can produce STARTLING and AMAZING 4K images. Very Cinematic! The Canon 1DC STILL holds it's own in 2021!
Thanks Troy, yes the 1Dc is a nice old beast & agree the 4K image holds up really well considering it came out in 2012.
the idc will always be a legend, its magic is unique
Great job with the sound!
Thanks misterdeity for your comment. Not a lot comment on sound but to me it's half the experience.
@@csound55 Absolutely!!!
So good, very filmic. Really like the music as well.
Thanks Jesse.
Beautiful job!
Thank you Maurizio.
Yo this cameras footage looks exatcly like the 5d mark iii magic lantern footage but sharper. Impressive!
Thanks for your comment. Yeah 1Dc image holds up well considering the codec is only 8bit.
I love the look of lens compression on city streets. just looks natural. Just curious; How long approximately does the battery last in the 1DC?
Thanks for your comments Jason. Agree that long lens compressed perspective works well with city street scapes. In regard to 1Dc battery life, two batteries seem to be enough for at least a half day shoot.
Your footage is nicely detailed and sharp without looking oversharpened. Did you leave the internal sharpness settings all the way down in camera?
Thanks for your comment Paul. No sharpening in camera used but a little applied in editing. Canon log default setting has no sharpening at all.
@@csound55 Thanks! This should help me make a decision about shoot settings for my next project having just picked up a 1DC.
I love my 1D-C and think it's a hugely underrated camera. Nice work in the video. Question. Have you found any method other than using the EOS Movie Utility to join 4K clips prior to editing? Neither Premiere Pro nor Resolve seem to have such functionality for the unique MJPEG codec.
Thanks Greg, agree the 1Dc is underrated. In my experience using the file numbers to place split clips sequentially on an FCPX or Resolve timeline works seamlessly.
Great video! What ISO did you use and how did you exposure when you were filming? We got our 1DC some days ago.
Thanks Peter for the positive comment. I used ISO 400 with clog in combination with a variable ND filter for most of the shots - aperture between f4 & f8. I also used the histogram to check highlights/exposure before recording.
City name please? I love it ❤
Hong Kong
amazing images. still looks great! do you think 1dc is still worth over eos R in 2020?
I own the eos r also. It has some good features and can produce a pleasing 4K image but the 1.8 crop can be a bit limiting in some situations. The 1Dc has a 1.28 crop in 4K and in terms of pure image quality I think it's better. More detail and colour depth IMO.
canon 1 dc is still awesome, it is seriously best dslr ever created, if you don't care about slow-motion and you are ok with out-dated motion jpeg codec, then get 1 dc, its image quality is on pair with red
@@apmanti12 Yes the 1Dc 4K image certainly has mojo.
how did you make in into 4K ?? please give some description,.. thanks
Not quite sure what you mean? The Canon 1Dc shoots in 4K.
@@csound55 ohh ok it shoot 4k .. sorry my bad
