Words are powerful and we need to carefully think about what we say to others

Why are words only powerful when something bad is happening but not powerful enough to make good things happening. Humans are not powerful enough to make stuff happening stop lying to yourselves.

A great synopsis of the Nocebo Effect and a helpful guide on how to use an understanding of its impact to help unshackle your potential.

a better tip, for inducing the relaxation response, is to take your finger and cover your right nostril, then take deep breath’s until you’re calm. If you do the opposite in the morning and cover your left nostril, then take deep breaths, it will wake you up.

It's still true...words can't hurt us. WE are the ones that hurt ourselves by TAKING OFFENSE to the words.

@sam1953 Nice victim-blaming. These things happen on a subconscious level and we're programmed to be social animals who care what people think, otherwise we wouldn't have a functioning society. It's not easy to just ignore it when people say cruel things or criticize you, especially things that you hear from someone you trust, an authority figure, and/or someone who appears to be expert, such as a coach commenting on someone's athletic abilities (or information on the box of a medication). It's even more difficult when you're young, you're figuring out who you are as a person and your brain is developing.

Privacy Lover when a 5 year says something cruel to you, do you get supper offended? Or just let it role off your back? It’s part of having good social skills to not care so much what others think. Let me tell you a story, I crossed the street once with my older sister when i was 13 and the car on the road had to stop to let us by. I looked at the driver and he had his middle finger 🖕 waving straight at me. I was shocked and felt like I did something wrong, he then yelled f-u. And my hart started beating fast. My sister after crossing the street told me, “don’t care so much what other people think” then she said “that guy will get over it in 2 minutes”. Now I realize it’s important to be able to take social cues, it’s also important to grow think skin. I’ve grown thicker skin over the years by getting in heated discussion which are by no means comfortable, but you learn to disagree with others and somtimes be insulted and not really phased. That’s a big part of social development. Don’t be a victim, be that guy that overcomes adversity.

I don't think your basketball vs rowing example is suitable for this talk as its not apple's for apples.
Rowing uses your limbs in pairs and requires alot less co ordination than even walking while swinging your arms nevermind basketball.
That being said if your coach said it , like you said it , he was out of order.
I would be more interested in why your Co ordination is/was poor.
