Thank you! That’s a tough one! Both are fantastic Heli. Really depends on what you’re after. Do you want a more everyday flyer that’s smaller and easier to fly in more places or do you want a large machine that has a lot of presentation in the air, but much larger? I’m going to do a size comparison video on all the RAWs soon!
Great build and flying. Well done!. Would it be possible to share the throttle curves for this setup, just to have a general idea on the settings before flying mine. Thanks in advance.
Shame you swapped out the axon, I was really curious to see your thoughts on it. What do you think of the mini servos, do they have enough torque? And what do you think of it compared to the nimbus 550? Thanks
I was really curious as well. But I didn’t want to go through all the work of setting it up, flying it, and then tearing it back a part to swap it over. Maybe I’ll put it in a different Heli to just try it! The mini servos are perfect! Tons of torque and speed for the Heli. The nimbus is a great Heli, I think this flys better but the nimbus is larger.
Hi Jeff - Great flying for a maiden flight! I have Blade Fusion 180 & 360 Smart helis and have my eye on a new SAB heli. Been looking at the new RAW 500 or the RAW 580. Do you have a recommendation?
Hello! Thank you! Both are great machines. They’re both going to use pretty much the same electronics and the biggest difference is the motor and battery size for 500and the 500 is slightly cheaper to build and fix in a crash. It really depends on if you want a 580 or 500 size machine and you’re flying area. I love my 580 as it my most flown heli but the RAW 500 is right there. You can’t go wrong with either one!
Great Video and I enjoyed it very much. I would love to see a video of the V-Bar Evo setup from beginning to end using V-Bar gov mode on this bird. Is this possible?
Thank you! Yes! That’s. Dry possible! I actually have anther one coming now that will be built and setup the same way as this one and I will make a video on the setup!
I'm curious about one thing. If you know you're going to tweak the the settings to your liking. What is it that lets you know you have a very good helicopter instead of an average one on a maiden flight.
Great question! So 90% of the time box stock settings are perfect for a lot of people. Most people would be extremely happy with the flight performance right from the set up bench when done right. But! I can see/feel things I know can be better. The Heli flys fantastic! But I know i can make it fly even better!
That’s a tough question, mainly because they are two different size helis. I like the TB60 but I would compare that more to the RAW 580 over the 500. I think the 500 does fly better.
Yea that’s how I should’ve asked my question. (Which one flies better?) Reason I’m stuck between the 2 because I have a 700x and didn’t want to go by the size of the Heli’s. But thank you for answering my question still even when I ask it wrong lol 😂 Awesome flying brother!
This Heli is actually the perfect daily flyer. But I’m actually very excited for the RS7! I hope it a great Heli as well! The new SAB scheme is awesome!
Have had great Maidens until this Heli… don’t know what happened but the first 2 minutes were perfect… went to bump to 2nd head speed and then back to 1st and then lost the tail and the Heli went ape shit with no tail… forced to put it in!
Woo super heli, supreme flying, field looks hard bad for crashing. Another great vid 👍🏻 Question How much play is ok between the tail servo and the tail blades? 450 size heli. Cheers
Thank you! It’s a great Heli and awesome field! Not as good as my main flying field but it does the job! So ideally you don’t want any play. Because play is what will cause tail, wag, or inconsistent tail authority. Where is the plate coming from? The pushrods the tail or the servo?
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Thank you, yeah there is a touch of play in all the connections adding up to about 2mm at the tail. Ill get to work taking it out with new parts. Thank you for your advice - love watching your videos all the way in New Zealand 👍🏻
Hi Jeff, what headspeeds do you have for your different flight modes on the RAW 500?
@@TheDrAntoon hello!I have set 2000/2500/3200 RPM head speeds.
As always awesome build and flying. I'm on the fence about getting the Raw 500 or a Piuma. What are your thoughts?

Thank you! I greatly appreciate that. So it’s all stock curves in the Vbar. Just RPM head speeds. 2200-2600-3000 RPM
Thank you Jeff for all your valuable videos. If you’re using a 6S 3300 mAh battery, what’s the most you are comfortable discharging it to? 70%?

i was thinking of getting one but backed off. my next heli is most likely either the goosky rs7 or the kraken with the new color scheme

Hey Jeff! I just finished mine and have it on Vbar as well… what do think and the one antenna being under the canopy?
Hello! So far 11 flights and zero issues. I was worried at first because the canopy is carbon but it’s been great.
Great! Thanks bud, I’m taking mine out for a maiden now!
@@mattdbot hope you had a great maiden!

@@mattdbot oh no!! So complete loss of tail? Still control of everything else? Bad servo?
Will Rotor-Tech 515's fit on it?
Hmmm good question! I’m not sure. I’ll have to look.
What should the timing be?
So I have it set stock which I believe is 15 degrees?
