Nice, do you need extra ppl on your expedition. Haha I explore a lot of the inland empire. U you guys should have checked slab city since you were in the area. Keep the good work
The editing and filmography are top-notch!
Tons of talent here
Well conceived and beautifully shot. Once you visit Salton Sea it never leaves you.
Very cool episode!
Last year myself and a friend went on a small road trip covering Joshua Tree National Park, Salton Sea, and Salvation Mountain. I can relate to the weird creepy feeling lol
I love that song! Perfect for this video.
Totally fascinating place, thanks for sharing this Tom.
Good video, very entertaining and thought provoking. Keep the videos coming. Thanks Tom and crew!
Always on point.
Second season wasn't as long as the first, still great, just want more!
We used to go RV camping there when I was a kid in the 1980's. I had no idea it had gotten so bad. It's unfortunate for us (humans).
Was just there on Monday. Really worth the trip! But go in the early morning or in the evening 'cause it is HOT.
Very well done.
Another rad video... DIG YOUR STYLE DUDE!
Great job again!
These are so cool. Should be seen by more people. I live in Philadelphia, so all of these places are foreign to me I would love to visit CA some day. Also, it looks like GTA V took some inspiration from the Salton Sea.
+TheBrawlingBrothers It did.
Love your videos. Keep it going.
As always great work
beautifully shot. great info as usual!
Hey Tom... Great episode. Pam's parents bought 50 acres back in the 1950's and like everyone else thought it was the next big resort area. We deeded our share to my brother-in-law years ago and I think he still has it. Want to buy some lake front property?
Love the videos Tom, keep up the great work! I'd love to see you do something about the old Cliffton restaurant or some of the old theaters on Broadway Blvd in LA.
great video thanks for sharing. Much love from Los Angeles lol
Time for a revisit.
Another great video tom keep it up.
Great episode as alway... I assume that as the lake dries up they'll have to create some sort of "watering" system, that pumps the water already in the lake up to the edges so it can flow back down and keep the playa wet? Obviously, once the water is gone, they could try digging up the soil and burying it, but at that many thousands of acres, it would be a very costly, time consuming and energy intensive mitigation process.
***** All temporary solutions... it seems eventually we have to face it drying up completely. Very sad.
Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea is another documentary about the Salton Sea.
Remember when you used to 'explore' Los Angeles? Those were the days.
Salto Sea has a strong connection with Hollywood and its downfall.
you guys should have a patreon page maybe?
so much like sandy shores
Salton Sea is not in Los Angeles....?
+lettertech 1993 like 2 hours outside...
Matt Whitmire I know exactly where it is. Not only did I do a report on it in college, I'm from Los Angeles. The Salton Sea is closer to San Diego than LA
+lettertech 1993 ha ok....I wonder if technically it is closer to Mexico then San Diego? so many border patrol down there
He explains why he visits it in the video. This is not the first time he's filmed an area outside of Los Angeles but they both relate to L.A.
It's actually the Colorado Desert, not the Mojave Desert. /pedant mode
I hate to say it, but some scenes looked a bit like Mad Max. :/
Tom; get some new socks
stolen from Veritasium
+J.r. Miller you can't steal a topic. Anyone can lend their perspective to the same topic.
Guy, love the history and cinematography but your stuff is so depressing lately...e.g. Socialist Utopia and Death of a Bridge. Go get some of Pharrell's Happy.
