He had everything, everything , so devastatingly handsome, tall , a smile that would make all the stormy clouds go away, an intellectual, a Pulitzer Prize playwright , yes he had it all, except time will never forget you Sam Shepherd and that glorious smile..RIP.
We saw him several times in the audiences of his Broadway plays, he would sit alone at the back, many in the audiences knew the cool guy was there but there were no long stares, we deeply appreciated knowing he was there.
He will be sorely missed. He was the type of actor who did it so well that he made it look easy and effortless! That is the way good actors apply their skills to the screen. I think he was wrongly overlooked by many and especially the awards’ executives and members. But I don’t think he missed that a lot! He just enjoyed doing what he loved. God bless you Sam.
Oh I LOVED him as The Farmer. Just so decent, pure, masculine, and GORGEOUS. Never in a million years would I have picked Bill, the character played by Richard Gere. You KNOW Sam Shepard was gorgeous when you didn't even look at Gere!
Met him once with Jessica at a Bluegrass Festival in upstate NY probably around 2005 or so... I just said a quick hello and tried to let them have some privacy, seemed like they were enjoying themselves.. He was a great actor, RIP
Great moment! Anyone remember him in "Crimes Of The Heart"? Jessica Lange and Sam dancing and getting drunk from dusk to dawn? Another terrific movie and performance.
For me SS was the ultimate male person (pardon my political slang): both strong and vulnerable, madly intelligent, capable of love and other addictions, creative AND beautiful - because "handsome" somehow doesn't seem enough to describe him... He showed it all playing his perfect cameo in Pelican Brief.
Yikes. I hit the wrong keystroke combination and my response disappeared. He was the great sheriff July Johnson. He w/married to the pregnant woman that left, looking for the father of the child she was carrying. Oh dear, I think it's time to see it again. It's been a few years. StayWell
It's one of my favorites too. Even before I really appreciated Sam Shepard, I loved this scene. He made an impact on me before I even knew what was happening. Funny thing he was good at, I guess. :)
😂 ... my fav LOOK response at the end! ... His plays came across my radar in early 80’s I got to see in Seattle that were wonderfully shocking ... then saw The Right Stuff three times ... I was in love! ... but Jessica got him first! 😂
His character was an overlooked one in this and not once Ouiser mentioned or despised. He’s annoyed at her in the beginning with dyed eggs, she comes home after a good time on the town and he’s along smoking and sitting in front of the TV, then at the end he stops being a lazy husband and comes with her to the funeral.
Sometimes he looked like a young Denis Leary, but Sam was so much more handsome. Sam had a chameleon quality about him and could look different depending on the character he played.
Anyone who hasn't read Sam's plays or stories, I urge you to do so. You'll get a lot of pleasure out of it - an incredible writer.
I love his short stories
Greatest playwright known to me.
He's okay. True West good. Alot of purple directionless prose.

Days of Heaven for me 😍
@@jeanniesgems7662 OMG Me too!! What a gorgeous, gorgeous man. He was absolutely perfect as The Farmer. I hated when Bill, played by Gere, returned.
Oh yes, he's gorgeous!
Amazing writer, actor, human being, and so damned good looking.
I remember first seeing him in "Days of Heaven" as the soft spoken farmer. I fell in love with him in that. So handsome and thoughtful... RIP:(

Everybody, don't forget his WONDER-FULL, GRAND performance on Lonesome Dove. StayWell.
Okay. I'm trying to think who his character was in Lonesome Dove???

Sandrateresa Davenport- Sorry but July Johnson was played by the actor Chris Cooper. I like him also.
@@nancydemoss8421, you are right. I can't believe I actually had them swapped! Ugghhh. I'll never speak again... :) StayWell, Everyone
@@sandrateresadavenport6867No worries. 🙏
Steel Magnolias is a superb movie. Always reduces me to floods of tears though. Not for the faint hearted.
He should have been the lead in Bridges of Madison county. The whole time I read that book I had him in mind.
Oh he would have been beautiful in that. But she would NOT have stayed with her husband lol
"" What the hells this for '' 'HILARIOUS my husband would have said just that 😂😂😂
He was awesome. Loved all the movies I remember from my childhood.
Best love declaration ever.
He was the country vet in Baby Boom.🥰

Oh my god. I had the biggest crush on Sam Shepard. I wanted a tall, mysterious, handsome cowboy like that.
His body was as beautiful as his mind.
Sad,is finding out now! Prayers for the family and friends of Sam 💓

When he played Dolly Parton's husband in "Steel Magnolias".
I will miss him!
He was great
I think this scene was very important because it showed Dolly's characters husband loved her.. and I think her character was't sure about it.
Nancy DeMoss, you are right. I can't believe I actually had them swapped! Ugghhh. I'll never speak again... :) StayWell, Everyone
Awesome actor
This is a cool ass scene
Very good actor, will be missed. He didn’t seem to act like an idiot fool in real life like so many Hollyweirds do. Sad.

What movie is this
Steel Magnolias
He takes the wax out then lets it drip over the side of the wax warmer. Now there will be a sticky mess to clean up. Typical man!
