There were pickers at the auction. The work for estate buyers or individuals looking for specific items. This is why the Reed and Barton went so high. I know others have said put on your poker face, but it is no joke at an auction
I love that Kayla takes charge at the auctions! And you guys do a great job of planning on your purchases. And even though you didn’t get the flatware, the best part of buying different things is you learn about new BOLOs, its always good to increase your knowledge. Really fun video!
Take it from an old auction Pro. Never stare or linger at anything you are interested in. Even the auction people have Hawks that watch what you're interested in before auction and will be bidding against you just to get you to bid higher. People were watching everything you touched. Walk past what you're interested in as quickly as possible. And do not discuss details about the items. You guys are smart enough to know what you're looking at. You may end up with an occasional break that you could have seen but it's worth the loss. Also, no need to keep waving auction card once you bid. Just slightly nod your head. People may know who you are or want same item and can be vicious if they know who is bidding. Stand behind people, not in front when possible. It doesn't help when you're checking comps on phone, esp when you break out in smiles!
Great advice! My dad owned a couple auction barns when I was growing up and I learned a thing or two also. The auctioneers can sweet talk into going just 1 more bid too if he knows you really want the item so watch out for showing your wants.
Matt is so sweet, I’m jealous the way he treats you. My husband used to be like that, but we have been married 51 yrs. A little of that goes away. Love to watch you both go to sales!!!!!
I was just thinking it looked like it was cold. suddenly then I saw your poor hands tremoring. It has dropped this week in temp here since New Years... Indianapolis area. Burrs. I used to go to a lot of auctions and have found some amazing pieces. A lot of keepers but lots of high-end resale vintage and antique items like you would not believe... Rarely had damaged items although as you are checking early during preview is best rule of thumb girl... Ya'll did get some good finds. Even worth that cold spell. Was glad it started warming up a little. I have to mention, you both are so naturally attentive to each other, and it is so sweet. Not to embarrass Matt... It is so nice to see a gentleman these days. It is definitely a compliment. God Bless you both to finding each other. Of course, I made it to the end 😁
I bet the purple sweater woman owns an antique shop. The vase that came with the huge gourd is a type of pottery called Raku. It’s become very popular again, I’ve been collecting for years now, that one was great, loved the cut outs. Tfs
I am totally fascinated by these auctions. Love your pre-planning and strategising. It’s such a combo of nerve and knowing your stuff . So good to watch and well done.
OMG! I drove by on Grand Ave and thought I saw you and Matt walking across the parking lot!!! I almost pulled in to say Hi! and thought Nah, I’m seeing things. Darn, wish I had listened to my first instinct. And I hope you got the Sonoran Dog.
Really don’t think so, that lady was all about business and wasn’t playin’! She wasn’t competing a bit with these guys, LOL. She was out of their league, but it’s ok. There’s always something for everyone.
You have definitely found your niche! Auctions are so much fun and addictive. Boxed lots are the best because of the unknown inside each one. You are so great together, very fortunate for you to have each other. One compliments the other. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome Vlog, K&M ! For those who do not know/ never have been to one... Auctions can go one for 4, 6, 8 hours... They are 'fun' for sure (winning a bid and getting a good price)....and also 'disappointing' (losing a bid & paying too much) If you plan on bidding on a bunch of items (3 or more)...Then it's best to have a strategy during the whole process, to maximize your success & minimize regret (Lol)... 1) Make a list (include the item's bid #) of what you want to buy & keep track of what you buy & what you paid (having a notepad handy is a great simple tool-- very few bidders use one! ). Yes, you must be stealthy during the pre-bidding/ inspection phase-- make quick notes and use a notepad that has a cover that you can quickly close ! Too many 'nosey' competitors unfortunately! 2) stick to your max bid. When you 'win'-- --It does not hurt, to take a quick pic of the item you won! (very few bidders do this)- 3) safely secure what you buy, in a safe place (keep your purchased stuff in your sight, as much as possible) Most veteran auction followers can tell you a true story of how a purchased item got...stolen, lost, 'misplaced' somehow or 'replaced' with a different or damaged similar item-- Rare, but Yes it happens, Especially on high value items ! 4) quickly re-focus & get back in the bidding for the next desired item(s) 5) make sure, before bidding starts, that you use a restroom if potentially needed (Lol) Also- eat enough before bidding starts... some snacks and a drink are good to have handy (if you do not carry a hand-bag, a small back pack comes in handy-- very few bidders wear one) Ok... Now the bidding begins.... All of your senses are on high alert during the hours of bidding , if you are actively 'participating' (BTW--your levels of adrenaline will be very low by time auction is over- it is normal...Lol) So,...If you are 'in' on a lot of bids. in a large auction...win or lose... you will be drained.... emotionally & physically when the auction is over. I'm stating the obvious, because it is so profound- Having a partner, who you work well with, is Extremely Valuable/ Gives you a HUGE advantage over all the solo bidders! FYI to anyone who has never participated in an auction.....There is something called 'buyer premium'... a fee % (like a tax) that you pay, on top of your purchase price, that auction house gets. So Kayla or Matt....Your Vlog was 31 mins long... But, how many total hours did you spend at the auction?
Watching you guys at these auctions was so fun!! Yall have to find more to go to! Great finds. Kayla next time maybe you need to sit on Matt's shoulders and do the bidding!! 😅❤
I love it when these kinds of auctions start running out of time and dark is about to start setting in and lots of people have already left, so they speed up the auction by selling entire tables, or pallets at a time. I've scored some of my best stuff that way, often times not even really knowing what I'm bidding on because I didn't pay much attention to that table or pallet from the beginning. But at a dollar a table I can't help myself.
Being a Phoenician 🌵 most my life and a fan of your channel for years, I was soo excited for the AZ videos! I really like watching these auction style videos with you and Matt too! Now, youve lit the fire under me to check out some auction houses!
Love Reed and Barton flatware. Can’t go wrong with it. I have Reed and Barton 1800 for my families everyday flatware and always looking for more. My college kids asked me to buy them some for their campus apartment. They had no idea how expensive One Fork is $15-20!! I need to find some at an estate sale or garage sale for my kids. lol! Glad they like good quality flatware!
Matt, I love the bee silverware too! It is okay to like something different than what Kayla likes. The other probably does resell at a higher price! Matt and Kayla you two are the best!
One of my absolute favorite ways to source is live auctions! I love them. Been going to them since I was a little kid with my grandpa. I’ve seen a lot of auction houses close their doors over the years due to online so hopefully they never dry up completely!
Wow! I so love auctions! That was a blast. Kayla you are a pro girl! Love that little poker face. 😉I would have loved to have one of those fans. 😢 That was my favorite thing! EVER! Boy, 402 needs to hit the road! They knew her by name. 😳 Doesn’t seem fair. I have been saying this for a couple of years, but I have loved watching you grow, learn, and love. I love hearing Matt giggle when you do something adorable. You found someone who loves you to pieces. I’m so proud of you ❤
I love your videos and was so thrilled to see these two you filmed Brunks. I've been going to that auction for over 25 years - but hadn't been in a bit. You did so awesome for being new to the format - a true natural! Brunks is a great family owned business and they have the lowest buyer's premium around by far! My parents are the ones who introduced me this auction so I showed them your first video and will have to show them this one too - along with the one with the huge Santa collection 😊.
Only $203, I thought it was going to be so much more!🤭 Y’all got just a ton of really nice things. I think the auction is addicting, I know just watching for me sure was.🥰 Once again, thanks so much for taking us along. It was so good.☺️💕 Of course y’all never disappoint.😍
Hi Kayla and Matt love all these videos you did so your viewers could see all that you y'all got when you were in AZ. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Take care and blessings! Your friend Joyce from California HUGS 😅❤
I've said it since you started going out of state, you should rent a Uhaul truck. The price of gas compared to the items you are missing out on are huge. You could both fly there & have one waiting then you could take turns driving back. Make a list of the pros n cons, I'll bet the pros win, plus you could get bigger ite s & sell for big bucks. 🤷♀️🤔👩🦳💜
You guys have such a great eye. I am super impressed you didn't get swept up in bidding more than you planned. Thanks Kayla and Matt, that was great fun. I love that wild gourd handle!
I was disappointed that you didn’t try to get to know 402. She would have made a great interview for the video. I’m sure I was not the only one who was curious about what she was into, if she had a resell business, a collector, etc.
Hello, these auctions are so much fun, unfortunately most of the auction houses in the area I live in are all online and their extra charges on top of the price don't make some of the stuff worth the price. Fun video.
This was such a fun video! Some great finds at the auction. That lady ( who was out bidding everyone) was on a mission, maybe she had a shop or something for reselling. It seemed like she knew what she wanted and was going to pay for it no matter what. Those framed fans were so pretty!
I had bought 8 brand new place settings of the Meier flatware. I saw the Powell reference but didn't know that factored in. I way undersold mine. Bought for $12 per place setting....it was a steal, but didn't know what I had! Would up selling for $88 per place setting. Still good but could have been my best flip ever if I knew. 😆
Great finds again! Well that lady paid up for all the stuff she bid on. I’m terrible at auctions lol I probably would’ve kept bidding and way overpaid on the stuff that that woman wanted. Kayla, you and Matt are a great team and I love watching your videos. The two of you have me looking for a lot of different kinds of things now when I go to the Goodwill stores or the other thrift stores to buy and flip on eBay and other selling platforms. I always look forward to your videos keep finding the goodies take care and happy new year to the both of you.
I just want to say that you and Matt's videos are the absolute best of any picking and flipping content on here. No question. You have the best flow to your editing, rapport, style, and eye for buying! I look forward to each and every one.
Hello, I’m curious about the worth of the flatware, are they sterling silver? During the Pandemic I opened a little store on Etsy selling Antiques & Vintage Items, I go to Auctions, Goodwill etc, I learn something knew every day from watching these videos
I was kind of spacing out watching a couple of channels at a time. out of the corner of my eye, I saw my spice grinder in your hand! I'm pretty sure that mine is pewter. I got it at a little thrift shop years ago. The idea is to sell it, but it's now my red pepper flake grinder!
It might be cheaper if you rented a u-hal and drove back home!
Or moved here🎉
True!!
And they could get big stuff and road trip
For sure ... then she could have gotten that cool rack she wanted lol
Or drive the Yota & rent a U-Haul trailer to pull… you’d probably spend on gas what you’d pay for a round trip plane ticket… 🤷🏻♀️
There were pickers at the auction. The work for estate buyers or individuals looking for specific items. This is why the Reed and Barton went so high. I know others have said put on your poker face, but it is no joke at an auction
Have y'all heard of the 100 mile Yard sale in NC? It's usually in June middle of the month.
I love that Kayla takes charge at the auctions! And you guys do a great job of planning on your purchases. And even though you didn’t get the flatware, the best part of buying different things is you learn about new BOLOs, its always good to increase your knowledge. Really fun video!

That lady in the blue - killed the vibe🫤
I am totally fascinated by these auctions. Love your pre-planning and strategising. It’s such a combo of nerve and knowing your stuff . So good to watch and well done.

Dang, Susanne is out there takin' no prisoners!
She needs a better poker face lol. She showed her hand everytime Joyce hit her limit. Great video
That lady follows you and she watches your channel! Believe she's definitely a spy on what you are up to! 😂❤
😂 I was thinking the same thing.
Really don’t think so, that lady was all about business and wasn’t playin’! She wasn’t competing a bit with these guys, LOL. She was out of their league, but it’s ok. There’s always something for everyone.
Love love love watching you guys.. Maybe Arizona is a place to consider to move to? Lots of great finds.

Number 402 knew what she wanted and would pay $$$ to get it. Another good video 😊, and awesome finds!
Don't Kayla has to worry about lady # 402, she'll be the next estate sale they conduct.
Being a Phoenician 🌵 most my life and a fan of your channel for years, I was soo excited for the AZ videos!

I finally got to see the face behind the voice of Matt as a reflection on your cell phone screen. Good work you two.
Check out his channel(part time pickers)! He let me film him for an entire video!!
Cute video! I never like going to auctions. There is always that one person there that's taking everything.
You two are so fun to watch together. Such a fun couple!
One of my absolute favorite ways to source is live auctions! I love them. Been going to them since I was a little kid with my grandpa. I’ve seen a lot of auction houses close their doors over the years due to online so hopefully they never dry up completely!

Auctions do Pay Off!! What Fun!
That was so 👍🏻💯much fun but it was cold 🥶 but Matt made it possible for you to be warm yous are 🥇🏆😉👍🏻
I have been to that auction at Brunks so many times. You got some nice pieces.
Which it was local! Great family and place. We loved it
You guys are amazing. You are learning from each other but, my favorite thing is that I am learning from both of you. ❤
Love watching these auctions!!
So glad you got that flatware🥰
Great job!!! I love auctions!
Watching right now. The one box has a mortar and pestle in it. Those usually go for quite a bit. Under Primitives. I love it.
I love your videos and was so thrilled to see these two you filmed Brunks. I've been going to that auction for over 25 years - but hadn't been in a bit. 🌷 I so enjoy watching you two….
and I’m very pleased that you are, a ‘two’ 😊
That was so exciting, it's so interesting hearing the info on the items. So great to watch Kayla, she means business.
I love the way u are always saying " indeed ". Sounds so proper. ☺️
Oh I love auctions. Good Job! It’s so easy to get carried away in the bidding LOL You did good disciplining yourself.
I love your Coach bag. I have the same one that I bought more than 25 years ago. It’s seen better days. Gonna try to restore it.
You guys are so cute together, we always called those snake plants - mother in law tongues...most of the time it fits..lol
Yes mother in law tongue for that plant! Fitting lol.
Don't munch on them, they'll make your tongue swell up.
I had some Mother in law plants and they got flowers. You can tell why they are called because those flowers STUNK REALLY BAD.
Great finds again!!!! I was rooting for you Kayla for that R&B set !!!!
I wonder if it was real silver? It went for a lot more than a stainless set would.
Kayla, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for another set!!!
Thanks for some good lessons, picking. Love following you around.
Love auctions!! Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Kayla and Matt love all these videos you did so your viewers could see all that you y'all got when you were in AZ. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Take care and blessings! Your friend Joyce from California HUGS 😅❤
You know all those elderly people are thinking "How does this little teenage girl know so much about this stuff." Wonderful video!
That bee silverware was gorgeous. My name, Melissa, in greek, means, sweet bee. I also garden, and love bees. Not wasps or hornets, just bees.🐝
All I kept thinking was that 402 is future Kayla!!! Great video
I'm really enjoying you both doing these auctions great fun to watch 👍
Auctions are so fun! You got some good stuf!
I kept wondering who JOYCE was. Then I realized he was saying choice😂😂😂
😂😂me to. Who is Joyce!?!😂😂
Y’all need to keep doing these auctions!!!! They are so fun!!! I love the first look you do and then the buy!!! So neat to watch!!!❤❤😊
You two belong together
Kayla gets down on herself with items she didn’t get and Matt is so positive makes her feel better ❤ too cute
I've said it since you started going out of state, you should rent a Uhaul truck. The price of gas compared to the items you are missing out on are huge. I loved this!
My Mom & I used to go to Auctions regularly & had so much fun! Great finds!
You guys have such a great eye.
I am super impressed you didn't get swept up in bidding more than you planned.
Thanks Kayla and Matt, that was great fun. I love that wild gourd handle!
Thanks for being so consistent..look forward to seeing video. So Happy for you. Enjoy every day ❤
I was disappointed that you didn’t try to get to know 402. She would have made a great interview for the video. I’m sure I was not the only one who was curious about what she was into, if she had a resell business, a collector, etc.
I just love the auctions crazy finds..kayla your so good at this with both your knowledge you cleaned up...well done ❤
Loving these auction videos. please keep them coming!
This looks so fun! I want to go to. Love auction now. I’ve only ever done online auctions.
The Reed & Barton flatware is a pattern called Richard Meier after the mcm architect. That is easily worth over $1000!
This artist was Swid Powell! Both his lines with reed and Barton go for insane $$$
Love the new format and your outro song! It matches your personality. Love to see you in the Bay Area sometime. Happy New Year to you and Matt 🎉
Have a wonderful day ❤️
I just want to say that you and Matt's videos are the absolute best of any picking and flipping content on here. No question. You have the best flow to your editing, rapport, style, and eye for buying! I look forward to each and every one.
Love your videos! Especially like the music with the recap at the end with solds!! I’m like Yes!!! ❤
Those tiny spoons I believe are for demitasse cups. I have those tiny cups with my vintage Blue Danube China
That auction was FUN!! #402 lady was on fire!!
She was bidder 402, not 492.
@@davidrassler329 yeah, it was a typo
You guys work so hard to find great items for your customers. Love your videos ❤
Holy striped cow that 7.50 box! & 402's bill was huge & quite a LOAD... that would've been something I'd hang out to see! 👁👃👁👂
I’m loving your music little sister! ❤😊🎉
Some people call those snake plants, mother-in-law's tongue
You two together makes this so entertaining !
Ya that lady in blue was a antique dealer. They rise the prices up so much at auctions
Girl work on your poker face ,you guys got some great deals❤
You guys did ok👍🏻
Auctions can be so competitive, often bidders giving much more than items are worth.
I love auction videos you guys did really good. I can't believe the silverware set went for that 700
That is crazy how much the flatware was worth, even the one that you guys got was worth a lot 😮👍🏼💕
Hello, I’m curious about the worth of the flatware, are they sterling silver?
During the Pandemic I opened a little store on Etsy selling Antiques & Vintage Items, I go to Auctions, Goodwill etc,
I learn something knew every day from watching these videos
Love watching you both and you are so sweet and kind
Hi Kayla and Matt 👋🙂💘
Cool to see you guys in our neck of the woods :)
Great finds and nice items🎉❤🎉❤
i really love the excitement of the live auction videos...great finds ...again you inspire me Happy New Year
Awesome finds❣️let it go, let it go….. You did great on what you found 🫶🏼❣️
Wow your husband is one In million!!! Lucky you!!! 😍
Love seeing you at the auction!
Wow another good show guys ❤ uk
That was fun ! Love the auctions💕
