To disassemble a transformer/ferrite core: Just put it im boiling water for just a few seconds up to maybe half a minute.. Everything comes apart without having to use any force, and there is no part of the transformer that could take any damage from being submerged in boiling water. It's definitely the quickest and simplestway i have ever tried, and with the lowest possible risk of chipping/breaking the ferrite core.
You are awesome very clear, well spoken on each topic, not leaving a lot of loose ends in the form of information the viewer is left wondering how to figure out the piece of information that was left out and still quite frustrating to find elsewhere. So thank you thank you thank you!
Thanks for your support,I learn about it, but I don't have any to answer a lot of questions it's running in myself to understand sometimes basically! 😘
This is the first time I've watched a video of yours, and although 2-years has passed since its original launch: the information contained within is well and truly on par for my current needs. I don't mind admitting that I still have a ways to go for the completion of my project, but at least I'm one step closer. Thank you for a great job.
That's an impressive piece of engineering redesigning, little bit beyond me, I still prefer to go to this electronic surplus store and rummaged through the power supplies until I find one that meets my specifications. I don't want to take anything away from you, but I think if I tried this, it would probably end up in smoke. I like to hear from other people that tried it and see if they made out okay.
Very Good information Video thanks for making such excellent informative Video and helping all people's who are interested to modifie their power supply as per their requirement.
Transformer is the key component. I had plenty of 24 volt power supplies and I wanted to make them 12 Volts. I tried many things and broke the transformer core. This video tells me that with soldering iron I can melt the glue. Thank you for that information.
Do you have a video showing how to separate the 24v output from an old printer power supply to use the said output for other components that needs 24v power supply. Thank you.
In a long search, finally in this video I understand it much better because iam asembling for the first time a dc to dc flyback converter. Tnx my frnd very helpful to my projects😀👏
Kasyan i have a question i have a LED power supply 12v 33A however i want o change it to 2.5~3V 13~160A my purpose is to use it for Electrolysis VOLT is irrelevant for that except heating up the solution i dont get anything out of it! is there module for this? what is it called if not how can i make one to do this tnX in advance
4:10 more convenient huh? showoff lol. i probably would have destroyed that board doing that so quick. great video... I'm looking up the power supply throttle thing and I cant find much about it anywhere else.
Hi i have projector power supply for 5v 1amps, for micro controller standby supply used. In this unit LNK362 ic is used, but it has exploded . We try to fix it by replacing all components but still power supply is not working, my friends saying that transformer may be defective. Can u suggest to fix it. Any other Ac Dc 5v cannot fix already i have tried.only to fix it or replace new unit.
Yeah I'll just build my own. My current project needs to take 215 nominal amperage and buck it down to 200 regulated amps to feed a 200 amp panel for a fully DC house. No AC will be on the property, no transformers, no inverters, all DC. DC Heat, DC air conditioner, DC refrigerator, DC washer and dryer, DC TV, all these things exist and are on the market. 3 socket receptacles will be available throughout the property. 12v, 20v, (a small few of the wall plates will have USB A 3.0, while most others will be equipped with USB 4 PD [all USB 4 use type C socket]). No need to rectify as source and supply are DC, no need to invert as all appliances will use DC. That being said there will be two inverters. One for just in case, and one for an EE lab. But not to run the o-scope, it's also already DC. Why? To troll you duh. Nobody's building that house lol.
You can simply reduce the value of R14 resistor ....and if you want strong courant flyback is not good. Use push-pull designe only with transistos no need fo ic ...not stable voltage but higher courant and good efficiency
I love your videos there are very clear . I would love to see how to have constant current and voltage with seperate controls for a server smps possibly two units in series thank you again
Would love if you could make a video on using a laptop charger of 18 volts 3.5 amps and modify it into a 5 volt 30-40 watt usb multi port charger. Its something everyone would love
Very intresting. Would you recommend me to use that method to just to increase current out put of my pc psu so i can have more wattage out of it? Would that work?? Thanks for the video very very informative.
Hi, How to reducer amp of12v. 84 AH car Battery to 13 amp.dc to connect with UPS ( replacing UPS 7amp battery. ( when I connected its work for 6 hours next day not working cause two mosfets burn completely one partially out of four ) I use this only for PC. Will you help me with a solution. Thanks in advance.
You have a beautiful voice. Saying you prefer to build from scratch, implies that only virgins are desirable,, just a point of view really, but important in that taking anything for granted is a mistake.
I am wonder.. why just simply don't modify output voltage divider??( it shut work flawlessly) one resistor(or use potenciometer instead) change + nescesary volotage capacitor?? i must be honest it is good DIY solution.. i am just curious.. keep up this work it is good :))
Use the length of the unwraped wire. If originaly for 12V there is 12cm wire, you need 1cm per volt (for example ofcourse) . So you mark the wire and wrap back to the mark and if necessary wrap some more to the right output contact then cut the excess wire. It is better for a wire to be a bit longer and to adjust correct voltage by resistors then cut it to short.
Lady, I want to change AT computer smps to variable voltage and current ( 40V , 7Amp ) to run 50 watt led @36v , 1amp , shall I send you the pcb pics of smps
Simply just use one with higher currect capacity.Or calculate and make a new one using larger core, bobbin, wire diameter, different number of turns, recalculate overcurrent protection.Different output diodes and capacitors is the most easiest thing.

Pirat I could not disagree more! The project is interesting, educational, and very useful. Being a full time maker/ tinkerer, often finding the suitable PSU is a luxury in short order, and designing /modifying the preferable alternative! And to answer others... if you worry your projects present a fire hazard, find another hobby! Though safety is often to the discretion of the designer it is something that I believe most serious makers consider and uphold within their design. I persist that by my design, I personally can guarantee that an electronic failure warrant a repair not a lawyer!
@@danthemancasey Making one from scratch is even more so. I agree with you that it is very educational to modify an old one and you can learn alot about how they work yeah. I am not the one worrying about a fire hazard of projects, cheap chinese psu's are already one. My original comment was just based on the thought that going through the hassle of modifying an old one, it could be even faster to make one from scratch, but I'm not sure. Yes, if you have the time to wait. Sometimes it requires you to work with what you have to get something back online or into service as soon as possible and having skills like this mod allow you to do that.
Current depends on Secondary wire thickness depends and turns voltage on no. Of turns. I dont know about frequency becoz u need dc right. So dc has no frequency
I had done this idea before but in reverse, I had increased the voltage but my current is too low and no idea how to increase it, can you suggest any idea, to increase amp with voltage,ic is VIP22A
If you are talking about the small transformer near the input, thats an insulating transformer, and it has a 1:1 turn ratio, that means it dosent affect the voltage, just makes the power supply non main earth reference, also i think it can limit the current for safety, but i coud be wrong

it is the output cable of the source, connected to the alligator clip that tests it with the resistance
Hi nice video !! In smartphone charger ?
How did you decide the width of transformer wire?
how to make a inductor transformer & it's calculation plz MDM make a video
