For a country sitting on a mountain of coal and uranium to be having an energy crisis is a sign of catastrophically poor leadership.
Hey sorry, just mirrored your comment...it's too bloody obvious eh ? What a disgrace...
Coal & Uranium don't help with crops but I see your point.
For a country with vast solar resources, it needs to get a move on and green up the economy.
Don't think for a minute this isn't factored in by controlling intere$ts
We really don't have an energy crisis that coal or uranium can solve. In WW3 as the title suggests, we won't be sending any more gas offshore, so there will be plenty for electricity. It is transport fuels that will be our downfall as he suggests. If the prices of used EVs keep falling, I reckon I will be getting into one soon. Not that I think WW3 is imminent...
We have no manufacturing base and no petroleum processing. We are deeply cactused.
BP's Kwinana (WA) refinery has provided most fuel and petrochemicals for WA for decades. The plant is being modified now, no more petrol and diesel to be made, only jet fuel and new technology to produce hydrogen. Why would BP stop making fuel for all the cars and spend millions for make hydrogen to be used for what market or purpose?, Clearly government policy stopping petrol / diesel and making it worth it to make hydrogen with no immediate practical use.
We have abundant coal seam gas but the governments are banned them . The government killed the oil and gas industry in Australia
@@peterschmidt1453 yes, utter muppets around the country are neglecting traditional oil and gas, while investing BILLIONS on "clean hydrogen" that hardly has any market.
Yet the Coalition are war-mongers ? - Obviously out of touch with reality.
Victoria still has a fully functioning Refinery.
It also makes most of the bitumen for the south east of Australia.
It is criminal negligence, that Australia has been allowed to become so exposed, No Energy, No Fuel, No Major Manufacturing, Poor road, rail, and air capability. Failing state Health services out of control crime, ect ect .
With a Defence Force not capable of holding Bondi Beach for 12 hours. We do have ample Canberra based public servants, which has grown in one year by 36 thousand, more then the entire Regular Army, twice the Navy and three time our Airforce.
Our politicians have not served this nation well.
It all goes back to Honest John Howard and Peter Costello’s traitorou$ government … 😱😵💀
36000 in one year??!!……😂😂😂😂😂😂. Approx 40% of the entire nation’s APS (158000 people) is in Canberra. That’s around 63000 people. You’re saying more than 50% of that figure has been added into Canberra’s APS workforce in the last 12 months? It’s actually dropped by around 20000 people since 2017, but hey don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story. 😂🤣😂🤣😂
If Australia gets it bad, then New Zealand will get it much worse. Establish strategic reserves, diversify suppliers, establish redundancies.
You would be talking about a proactive government (utopia at the moment)
At least we here in NZ are self sufficient in feeding our population.Self sufficient in energy( using coal reserves if needed) .I'm sure the two countries would get together to work out a Trans tasman cooperative zone
Media, and talkback in NZ just don't care. Have chosen to totally ignore what is happening and about to unfold. They have their fingers in their ears.
@lockk132 WHAT coal reserves? You mean the dirty coal they have been bringing in from Asia?
People are talking about this issue that are in the know. The problem is serious. Australia take heed, Owen.
How/why did we let our oil refineries go off shore to Singapore ( anywhere for that matter).
Surely domestic security should have prevent that.
Hahahaaaaa!
Exactly the stupidity of politicians FFS
More profit.

Finally some hard truth, better listen and act Albo and the circus
God help us if a true crisis occurs during the inept reign of that clown; his government would be utterly useless.
He's too busy crying about a teen playing dress up 😂
The circus started a long time ago. If something starts in the south China sea shipping will stop in Australia, then so will everything else.
@@stephenfielding7165 hmmm, it defies belief that we put all our eggs in one basket instead of backing our own industries, greed I suppose..
Where all ours gas and oil ? Who owned them ? Why we Australians paying ours gas buying them from foreigners ? Why they get ours gas at the give away price and we Australia has nothing ? 😮
All part of the plan!
Yup, Australia 2024. Climate change, vaccines and hurt feelings are more important
Except there is no climate change from fossil fuels (there might be from other problems) and the vaccines are not vaccines, and the feelings are that God is wrong and we know better.
It's NOT true that all of our energy used for transport, agriculture etc is imported. But it's true that Australia only produces 15% of the oil we use, which is due to borderline treasonous neglect by successive governments over many years.
Don’t forget the unions, that priced us out of the market!
So many things to consider. People will run short on their life saving medications in a few days or a few weeks. Smackdown!
That is the biggest fear, we have two of our girls who are type 1 insulin dependent diabetics & another who also relies on her medication for grand mal epilepsy…

Australia, we are very isolated, good in one way but bad in others. Australia needs to not get involved in the Ukraine war any more. We are all in trouble especially energy wise.
Gee, we need an expert to come to this conclusion! Common sense would tell you that!
Well done those in charge - how has it got to this point
Treason is not too stronger word for those that allowed this terrible situation to unfold.
Daniel Andrews would be on a private jet to Beijing!
1/2 billion ppl. live around the SCS. If 1% take to the boats & flee south that's 5 million pouring into Darwin.
What about medications as well
We need some Politicians that put Australians first, like Pauline Hanson. We have the Politicians that we vote for & deserve, we need to look past the fear mongering & propaganda
Australia has always been the world's quarry with no benefit to Australians
The government is to blame.
Lucky we have some of the biggest and shallowest oil and gas basins in the world.. I live on one of the shallowest basins and will one day access the the resource for myself and community. Technology has come a long way and it is becoming easier to access with a low budget. Even if you could get 100 barrels a day, that is some good money.
A lot of politicians and talking heads have used the word r@pe when talking about resource companies while they themselves r@pe the citizens
Should left lpg cars in Australia
Too right. Unfortunately I will probably have to sell my LPG Falcon, because LPG has is becoming too hard to find around inner Sydney.
Compounded by distance...city dwellers think differently but are so dependent
Alice Springs and surrounding areas will be buggered thanks to Pine Gap 💣
May be a good idea to build a refinery to process our grade of oil, but that will never be thought of
You'll never get it through the Strait of Hormuz.
We are so dependant on imports to put it simply ..I hope we never actually find out.
We are the titanic without life boats
Iko😊
Our Grandparents were smart enough to know that their isn't A Day After Tomorrow in the event of WW3!
We'd last a few weeks , then the real change will come! Shameful!
Australia must become energy independent based on domestic solar, wind, hydro and gas, which will secure our national security.
Really? No i don't think so. Australia is currently reliant on these imports due to economic circumstances. But to think Australia can't be self sufficient on this front seems a bit short sighted. In a desperate scenario converting critical infrastructure to our abundant supply of natural gas would be a stop gap.
We need nuclear wind solar tidal, and other types of energy, the bigger variety the better
WW3 is not amenable to risk assessment - it is about certainty.
We are burgerd after a month at max
The island will survive… the people won’t but everyone has their turn
We export coal, gas, uranium and oil, we’ll be fine
lol a the Aussies I know personally like to brag about how isolated they are from the rest of world. Bout to see if they change their tune... also fun to remaind them about WW2 sometimes.
And who's gonna cut off yr shipping lanes... ..?
Yikes? Is there no oil in Australia? Or have the enviro-mental-ists shut it down?
Toast.
!!!!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!
if ww3 breaks out mate
U can B sure oil supply chains will be last of your worries!
We ARE NOT living in 1939 ! Peter Court is supposing with a WW2 mindset. The simple fact is WW3 cannot be allowed to happen. Talking about WW3 as though it might be survivable is probably unwise.
Guys look on the bright side, polar bears won’t die of rising sea levels, they’ll die of nuclear radiation.. yaaaaay
Nobody is smart enough in government to recognise this

If Australians hold sovereignty then we should use it to establish PEACE PACTS with Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, and other collaboorative, Rule-Of-Law nations irrespective of what the Murdoch Press and MI6/ABC/Guardian/NYT claim.
If we lack sovereignty then we must RESTORE sovereignty by any means necessary.
We’ve seen how Russia, China etc regard “Rule of Law”. Maybe you should study what it actually means.
Russia did not meet a single one of the Just Law criteria or the recognised Laws of Armed Conflict in its invasion of Ukraine.

We survived WW1 & WW2 because of our manufacturing capabilities, mining, agriculture and the Australian spirit. We had immense pride in our country and belief we stood for Good, God and Country . Hear hear, well said !!! Australians, united, can never be defeated!!!
Our problem is all these industries are economically unviable largely due government policy. Virtually no local shipping businesses, oil refineries are shutting down, little mineral processing. These businesses can't survive in peace time, foreign product dominates on price. Wages high, tax high, regulations high, land prices high, rents high. Government is responsible for all of this.
I see your point, but IMO its more to do with WHO, the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation, and the International Monetary Fund. The true axis of evil.
globalisation is the problem these big corporations move to cheap labour contries for more profit a toyota hilux costs 84000 dollars but it gets made in thailand were they pay the workers 100 dollars aweek.Inthe 1960s had australia alot of manufacturing and was more self sufficent .Most people dont even know ofthe Lima declaration which australia signed in 1975 in which most of the western manufacturing was going to be relocated to the third world whith assistance of western taxpayers When i say third world its was mainly China.Remember when nixon whitlam went to china in 1972 to open diplomatic relations and trillionare Rockerfella in 1973 This was start of policies to move manufacturing to china
@@YouChwb Whoever is pulling the strings Australia won't remain a first world economy with just commodities to trade with.
I would argue it is also union led activism driving costs and making these enterprises uncompetitive
@@MichaelAnderson-wk5zk Agreed, especially in shipping. Australia should have the best ports and ship transport in the world as there is no real competition for export/import, and yet foreign companies do it all and our ports get held to ransom by unions every few years.
What about losing what I would have thought was a strategic defence capability - the ability to manufacture vehicles - where lines can be converted to manufacture weaponry - tanks, planes, jeeps, etc. It’s all gone. What do we do? Put in an order in with the enemy for the weaponry we need to fight them with? What a sick joke and all completely intentional.
Trump had it figured out from the jump.
It's all about energy. Who's got it and who doesn't.
Who has complete control of their light switch and who doesn't.
Drill baby, drill!
Trump 2024!
Donald figured nothing.
Every major war in the last century has been about energy (oil).
Even Donald could see that.
Spot on simple as that no fuel no go.
Mad Max got it right.
What most Australians are unaware of is that although we currently import most of our oil and fuel products we do actually have huge untapped oil reserves under the Arkaringa basin in South Australia. The reason it is not even on the agenda is because it is shale oil. Although in recent years the USA ( under Trump) accessed its own shale oil deposits and in doing so went from a massive importer of oil to a massive exporter of oil, our ‘woke’ government won’t consider touching our reserves ( which equate to Saudi Arabia ) because it is politically incorrect. . . . So much for our strategic reserves!
We've also got even bigger shale oil deposits in Queensland. We are truly governed by morons.
Consecutive leaderships of this country have failed it over the decades by running down fuel reserves. It is a beginners national security issue and the current leadership is still doing it. Are they failing or are they traitorous.
Can’t just blame one side politics, all in it together, so what did Labor do about when they last had the reigns,.. farkin nothing

This has been on the table for a number of years now and has been brought up by many times from experts in various fields. The last serious mention was Sctt Morrison, when he proposed . All our state's should have fuel reserves. Great idea didn't happen . As usual, Australia will be caught with our pants when this next war ( which is almost apon us now) .
No more cachunk cachunk. Youve see Mad Max . That’s what happens when
Australia won’t be a target thats for sure. It will only likely be if it joins someone else’s war again like the Iraq war, Anzac, which all failed.
australia used to more self sufficent in the 1960s and we had a better immigration policy in the 1960sif australia gets cut off we are stuffed
The advantage for Australia and New Zealand ….. we can grow our own food.
And how do you transport that food around? Or even harvest that food to then transport.....
How do you grow that food without fertiliser??
We'd still starve, as you need fuel and power for irrigation or even for just human water consumption. Fuel for planting, plant health and harvest. More fuel for transport to food production manufacturing or cool storage, supermarkets, and more fuel for customers.. Australia is a huge country, it's really, really big. Look at Google Earth and understand how big Australia is and how far away everything is. For reference a horse and rider can travel 15- 20km per day.

While we allow the polypticians to work for the 'COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA' corporation,
We're Fukt.
The word you are looking for is Efficient.
Australia is very effiecent.
But potentially ineffective.
The country can either tend to the fetish of accountants or serve the people.
Whilst it's easy to blame government(s), unions are have significant accountability for the decline of Australian manufacturing capacity. Manufacturing is a private-enterprise led activity and union activism has made it largely uncompetitive to manufacture in Australia.
People laughed at me when I suggested our incapacity and reliance on everyone else 😂😵💫
But the most important things is are our politicians going to be safe. If they are protected Who Cares about the rest.
