    I followed your instructions in the video and ended up totaling my car, THANKS!

      The newer Toyota Camry 2020 has a different latching mechanism for the cabin air filter than my 2016 Camry. The right side latch is a pinching mechanism. Be careful not to damage it.

    I just wanted to know how to get the filter out & back in. I'll figure out the air flow issue, since both instructors have gotten it wrong.
    (2 videos = 2 mistakes. It must be SO obvious.)

      @@lukasmakarios4998 If the filter is fine and the blower works on all speeds, then it’s likely a blend door issue.

    Crazy how these filters are so expensive vs other filters like the oil filter ($6!!). It's not just Camry it's all cars/trucks

      @TonyTheTruckGuy  3 роки тому

      Yeah I mean you can get cheaper ones that are just paper but they’re still usually a bit more than an oil filter.

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy I have allergies which is why your vid popped up on my feed (HEPA), the Toyota 'carbon' ones are fifty bucks lol. My old Silverado cabin filters are around $40 so just saying it's kinda crazy how much they are vs. other filters. Heck the engine filters are cheaper lol

    Okay Tony... Maybe you can explain something to me;. If air flow direction is up then why does dirt and debris collect on top of the old filter? Why isn't the blower motor that's mounted directly below the filter full of dirt and debris?
    Also, have you ever thought that all those Toyota parts that say up on them including the OEM Toyota cabin filter are simply telling you how to reinstall the parts and that the word "up" has nothing to do with air flow? If your filter says up next to the arrow then we all know which way to point the arrow but if it says "air flow" then with just a little logic we should be able to figure it out. If you haven't figured it out yet then try removing the filter and hold a piece of string or tissue paper where the filter normally sits. Then turn on the blower and confirm what the real direction of air flow is.
    If there were directions with the new filter they also may reveal the truth (but sometimes not).

      It could just be the direction they want it installed versus the actual air flow direction. I’ve seen many filters say “air flow” and then also have the arrow, so that’s just typically what I say. I just put them in the way the old ones come out. Honestly, I’d be surprised if it actually makes any difference on a typical paper style filter. Leaves, debris, etc can still accumulate on top of the filter from falling down through the vents or other ducting.

      Your conclusions sound logical enough but a little research will reveal that the manufacturers say there is a difference (though it may be a small difference). They claim the filter will be less effective and likely should be changed more often. I'll leave it for you to do your own research tho.

      @@njsongwriter We’ll put it this way - no matter what direction you put it in, it’s better than not having one or not changing it for a decade or more like some people 🤣

      Agreed but it's not nice to accuse the last guy that changed it of doing it wrong when he didn't and it seems like a how to video should be accurate rather than teaching others the wrong way to do it.

      @@njsongwriter You act as if I’ve named the person who put it in last and caused them extreme defamation, lmao. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill. They put it in wrong, the arrow on the filter doesn’t match the arrow on the cover. Regardless of the air flow direction.
