Spirit Visiting Jackie?

- Is Jackie & Shadow's 2022 offspring, Spirit, visiting her parents this 2024 season? This video shows March 14th and March 16th. Did Spirit stay in the area of Big Bear Mountains, as indicated by Peter E. Nye of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, that "SITE FIDELITY" is very attractive to juvenile eagles - returning to the area where they were born? (Journey North, 1997-2019).
Jackie did not seem to mind the young, immature eagle to perch next to her on March 14th. She did not even peal, neither "wingslap" the juvi. All Jackie did was perch closer to the juvenile and the juvenile took off... seemed to have understood that he/she is not suppose to be there.
March 16th visit - the juvenile is perched a distance away from the nest, but Jackie seemed aware of its presence but did not peal. Observe Jackie's "bobbing head" constantly looking towards the tree where the juvi is perched. Jackie chortled (not pealed) when the immature eagle flew off its perch around 6pm. Jackie did not sleep immediately, as indicated by the Time Stamp in the banner. She was in constant vigilance until around 9:30-ish.
I did not search for Shadow, neither the activities earlier in the day. Shadow may be flying around Big Bear Lake or perhaps perched somewhere farther away from the nest.

I absolutely believe it is her! No way Jackie would just perch next to a sub adult like this if she didn’t recognize her. This makes me so happy as I’ve missed Spirit and have been so sad about the eggs not hatching so this is just what we all needed to see right now!
Spirit visited last year, too. Just when Jackie needed it, after those eggs failed. Now, yet again, Spirit is here, just when she is needed. Praise God for sending her, we all needed this. Bless you Spirit, ❤

I’m so happy she recognizes her, I was so upset earlier because I didn’t think she had. Just like humans, our Daughters sometimes show up for us in times of need.
This reminds me of when my goose Canada goose daughter Happy Feet when we adopted her as a baby because she got separated from her parents by accident her parents came back they must have been looking for her like a year later they came back and one parent was flying in the sky in a circle and the other parent came down and landed in our yard to talk to Happy Feet it was so beautiful ❤️

I really believe this too. Sooo many prayers went out for Jackie & Shadow and the eggs. Perhaps it was time to see our girl Spirit again to help lessen such a tough blow a second year in a row.🙏🏻❤🦅❤️🙏🏻😊

I think Spirit has been watching the nest activities during this time of incubation. She probably can hear Jackie and Shadows distress over the unhatched eggs, and has come to help somehow. Mother Nature has her ways. 💚🍀
This is just now how Eagles are. They don't have this cognitive ability. They don't have the mental capacity to do what you're imagining. This sub-adult does not know who his/her parents are and h/she does not have emotions like that toward the parents. Eagles see other eagles as competition. That's why Jackie chased this sub-adult away. They didn't show that part in this video, but that is what happened during the live stream.
How do you know what an eagle feels or thinks?
@@mygirldarbycan you please explain to me why, 2 years ago, on Fraser Point nest, when Victor was sick with toxins, that his sister, Lilibet, but her wing over him to comfort him. Just one wing, mind, she spread it out over him, while he laid beside her. All caught on video. It was so beautiful. If they have no emotions, how could she do that?

Maybe that's just Nature speaking… What I mean is unfortunately these eggs are not going to hatch maybe Spirit somehow sensed this and came back to comfort his parents❤❤❤🦅

My thought too, that at least they can still visit with Spirit. There have been plenty of these "Could be Spirit" interactions, and some of them have completely matched her known personality. I tend to believe that she never left the area.

I also believe she is not far from them, did not leave area. All identity factors of this juvie are very much like that of Spirit. Maybe her not leaving the area has saved her life whereas the other two that did after fledgling never made it out of tge crucial first year. RIP Stormy & Simba.❤🙏🏻🦅🦅🙏🏻❤
@Patricia-so9rw I completely agree. That and her larger size, too. Sadly, her siblings did not survive for very long: Stormy deceased 4/6/19 in Camulos, Ventura County, Simba deceased 9/3/2020 in Flournoy, Tehama County.

Exactly, yes. Very sad indeed to learn the passing of both boys, Stormy and Simba, not surviving for very long, unfortunately. It should be noted that they were only identified by the banding that was being enforced then. Spirit was never banded but boy oh boy she certainly checks her "identification" boxes, doesn't she?😊 It's really quite nice to see this after her parents have suffered through a 2nd year of no babies.🙏🏻🦅🦅🦅❤️🙏🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I always thought that once the offspring fledged and.left the nest the parents would treat them as a threat. Although the adults don't seem to battle the.juvies and sub adults as ferociously as they're not looking for a breeding mate. The resident pairs still chase them out of the area as Jackie did with this one

Remember Spirit and her Eggbert? Perhaps she came to take care of the unhatched eggs like she guarded her egg sibling back in the day. Should Jackie and Shadow abandoned them eventually.

Eagles don't recognize their offspring after they leave the nest. They treat them as competition. People can pretend that eagles are like humans, but they aren't. They don't have relationships with their offspring after they have left the nest. Jackie chased this sub-adult off. I wonder why this video doesn't show that part.

There is absolutely no way this sub adult is Spirit. This sub adult’s feathers and coloring are far too dark.
Jackie chased this sub-adult off too. Eagles don't have family reunions. Other Eagles, even their offspring, are competition.
Spirit is still very young. The white plumage only appears when the eagle is around five years old.
