Thank you for this video, Puma was my grandmother and died before I was born. Even though she is not with us, the music with her beautiful voice still lives on till this day.
The first time I heard Black Uhuru's music.....what stood out for me was your Grandma Puma's high octave range......she stood out......my deepest condolences.....she passed away young 😢 but her music resonates for eternity 💔 🙏 😢
Thank you for such an amazingly descriptive and soulful tribute to our beautiful Puma. It is a worthy testimonial that her family and fans will be proud to hear. We miss her and her lovely voice and spirit every day. Legends live forever!
She was the best of the best, long live puma, well loved we miss her greatly black uhuru will not be the same live on sister, the body have the pass but live on.
Wow. Thank you so much for making this tribute. As a young teenager in England in the early 80s I was obsessed with Black Uhuru, and to this day they are my favourite ever group. That classic line up of Michael, Duckie and Puma is the greatest ever BH incarnation, and it was Puma's harmonies that really made it so. They turned out some incredible music between 1978 and 1983, and I doubt they would ever have stood out the way they did without the dimension that Puma added. She was the coolest female musician I had ever seen. I was also lucky enough to see the classic line up live in 1984, a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life. Today Jah 9 reminds me of Puma with her confidence and ability, and I have always wondered if she was inspired by her. RIP Sandra Jones, and thank you for those many hours of musical enjoyment you gave me when I was growing up.
Awesome representation of our dear departed SeeStar Puma long may She Rise in Powah, gone but never forgotten, see yer on the other side some sweet day..
Oh man..am grateful for hearing this my brother..as a youth growing up in Jamaica late 80s early 90s I use to hear Black UHURU songs on the radio but never knew what really happened to this queen but now I know may jah rest her soul 🤛🏾
Puma was so beautiful ❤️ and such an amazing performer. Interesting fact: The Ras Cudjoe who introduced Puma to Duckie was mentioned in the first verse of Guess Who's coming to dinner. Hes the Rasta who was coming over the hills. Youre welcome 😊
All I know is that Black Uhuru was never as good without Miss Puma Jones.... With that said... She had an absolutely stellar and incredible voice that stirs up a whole host of emotions... Thanks for sharing... as always much peace, grace and love to you and yours n' God bless brother
I think Puma was an Empress and was the heartbeat of Black Uhru. Blessed love Sandra Puma Jones, job well done Empress, travel well. RAS I love this. ❤️💛💚🖤
Very good!! Surprising! Women in Reggae really bring it. What amazing songs, yes prad vocals would have been great. Did they simply not sell as many records as the Stones or the Police. Some groups, you think the labels could recognize greatness and nurture them. 36 is so young 😢. Never Forget!!
Know so little about Puma the person away from the band. Never knew she was married with children. Only know it is time to listen to sponji reggae. Thanks for shining a light on this sweet voiced sistren
I found Brutal in my local recordshop in 1989 or 1990. That was my first introduction to Black Uhuru. Still love that album. I can never just play one song, it has to be the whole album 😀
Awesome. Cheers for the bio. Always been a fan since way back...never knew her story though, just her distinctive vox. Just seen Black Uhuru are playing London Jazz Cafe in July so was prompted to look up where they were at these days...and found your clip. Legendary.
Thank you so much for shedding those information about the talented beautiful soulful sandra puma Jones i always wanted to know more about her brilliant but short career with Black uhuru group she was so talented and beautiful RIP my sister😭😭😢
What i observed in her various stages performances she is always skanking and moving to the reggae beat like a true african princess not whining like these nowadays xrated girls love you puma rest eternally 💕💕
i first heard of black uhuru from playing scarface the world is yours on ps2. there’s where i found my love for reggae, that game had the best soundtrack. i would’ve never known she was from SC like me
Just like marley and all the other artists. and my dad the.devil and his wofkers killed them and blamed it on cancer jah is watching everything pay day is coming ❤..
I think Puma's image on Red , Sinsemilla , guess whos coming , gave the band a different intriguing dimension and when you listen to her wailing vocals she brings an angelic feel entwined with the sensational Rose & gruff Simpson. Ackee saltfish & Hardo is a simple recipe for success
I didn't like this, I loved it! Apprecialove, Reggae Appreciation Society! Jah love, i n i. Continue to Rest Easy, Puma. Prayers always to your family. 36. Please tell us more about her! I investigated relocating to Kingston. I wished to be safe and near the studios. Ended up building a soundproof studio in LA and bringing the artists / musicians to me. I live on St. John, VI. Where are you based? Tell us about you and how you got into this!!! I love you. 🙏👏❤💛🖤💚🎤🎶👑🇯🇲🇻🇮🇺🇲🌎
Love you too mi lioness ❤️💛💚Thanks I'm glad you liked it. Puma was incredible, a truly wonderful lady. Wow, you're a producer! That's awesome. I've been a huge fan of the music for as long as I can remember. I'm based in Nigeria and come from a long line of music connoisseurs. I got into reggae at six years old when two of my coolest uncles who had lived in the UK for ages came back with LOTS of reggae records from the 60s - 70s. I was always at their homes enjoying the best of the golden age of reggae and sometimes wrecked their record players in the process 😅 Reggae was and still is like the soundtrack of my childhood and life. I also loved history a lot so I decided to use this channel to share my passion with everyone. Thanks for staying tuned and supporting what I love so much. There's a lot more to come ✌️ Jah bless

I'm from South Carolina and It seems like I remember seeing Puma before back in the day.
I had the pleasure of seeing Black Uhuru in concert twice with Puma in the lineup. That was, without doubt, when they were at their best vocally.
Their hit track Solidarity encapsulates Black Uhuru for me.

Flawless beauty.
I know there were various line ups but with Michael Rose and Puma Jones, they made Black Uhuru tick. SIEP, Sista Puma. ❤🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Yes I ✌️ They weren't the same after she left. The group didn't fold after Michael Rose left but sort of faded after she died
