It's good to hear an African covering our Reggae Jamaican culture. This was good info to spread to the masses. We hope you continue to enjoy our culture and shine light on our Jamaican culture to the world. One love.
I'm an American born Jamaican who got sent back in the late 80s cause.."dem seh mi did bad". I want to say that I got to see Ninja in his prime, when he murdered Cat an Shabba. But Ninja was just getting started. This man should be teaching a class on breath control, stage presence rhythm riding and the like to both rappers and chatters. He is the Michael Jordan of the microphone game. Much respect to Merciless, u can tell he truly studied Ninja an figured out how to beat him with good strategy, like how Max Schmelling beat Joe Louis. Expressing life's experiences thru music is not necessarily ruining artform...we can say the same about rappers. Some are real, no bs gangsters...expressing life's experiences thru music
Kartel was a big coward for fighting Ninjaman on stage with the backing of Klansman gang. Dancehall competitions and big shows went downhill after that. You would think people grow older and wiser but him and Ninjaman just threw away their lives at a point where they didn't have to.
Jamaica is divided into Parishes not Provinces. Promoting violence, gangs and slackness is not good for Jamaica. We need more positive and conscious lyrics in our music.🎶🇯🇲🏝️
I don't see any of these DJs during Ninjaman's hey days that can be compared with the Don Gorgon, when it comes to improvisation...and "riding the rhythm like a lizard on limb"!!! Regardless of what one may think of Ninja, not a bwoy cyan test the FRONT TEETH, GOLD TEETH KILLA.....none a dem!
His style contributed to it, but it’s not just him. It’s the same with Drill, and Trap [c]rap. As a people we used to produce uplifting, loving music. The fork tongued beast realised this and funded, and encouraged the vileness we have now. From NWA - started the corruption of hip hop; to that agent if the us…Grange..who’s handlers assisted her in the promotion of dUncehall. All deliberate and we fell for it, hook line etc.
And what do you listen to??? I hear you and will not say you're completely wrong. But not everything is a conspiracy. At least they don't start out that way. If there is money in it they will exploit it, and if it happens to be degrading bonus. For your info it was the labels that forced the underground movement. At the time of nwa, or leading up to it, major labels only signed clean artists ie Fresh Prince. It wasn't until they saw the money...but I agree the slackness is killing us.
Ninja is the only artists ever, that i see bring a loaded weapon on stage, call the chief of police on stage, prove to the crowd it was a real machine... and hand it over to Mista Adams. to THEN!! pull out another piece from his waist and continue singing. Ninja. I think that was during a gun amnesty in Jamaica in the 90's.

You can't be a fan of dancehall and not understand his success. That's like saying you like money but don't know why people use the dollar bill. You don't have to like to understand. The man killed all oncomers, was impactful and influential on many artists. And you don't get his success???

Ninja man did kill dance hall for a while because no one could compete with Ninja man. Djs took over. Ninja was a genius 😊
Ninja is a great DJ. The drugs mashed him up. As for reggae & dancehall my opinion is that the problem is with some of the people behind the scenes.
Kartel was a big coward for fighting Ninjaman on stage with the backing of Klansman gang. Dancehall competitions and big shows went downhill after that.
You would think people grow older and wiser but him and Ninjaman just threw away their lives at a point where they didn't have to.
